Plan on 5-6
It is clear the new management really haven't changed the poor attitude at prarie Isle!
The pace of play is now solidly accepted at 5-6 hours per round, very frustrating and when brought up to the ranger the reply was nothing we can d about it.
The course layout I like, the greens were actually in poor condition, but the overall value for the experience is not very good, coupled with the overall we really don't care if you play here or not attitude in clubhouse - this attitude is experienced on check in...
Been playing it for over five years, several times a month, but I just can't give them my money anymore, it is far to frustrating to play a round with 1-2 groups backed up on 14 of 18 holes.
Prarie Isle really charges a lot when compared to better courses in the area and does not supply a "welcoming, please come again" experience - try somewhere else, your value will be better.
Excellent experience
From the moment I got to the course you could tell it was a good experience.staff was friendly, course was in great shape. True test of golf. Will be back for sure
Great course
Great par 3's, great par 5's, bent grass tee to green, course is very fair. Par 4's 12 and 13 are spectacular.
great course
very nice challenging course in excellent condition, elevated tees, nice views great course and Tyler has the place running beautifully!!! can't wait to be back thanks guys for a great round!
firm and fast
Conditions were very good,
Greens were true and fast.
this course gives a great feeling to be playing it
nice course to play with some raised tees and some raised greens quite hilly on some holes which makes it fun to play! very well landscaped makes it a pleasure to play.
A windy but warm day at Prairie Isle
The course was in good condition and well presented. A number of 'water holes' were really attractive and all greens were true and fast with just the odd bump due to un-repaired pitch marks. On the back nine, there were 2 really tough hilly holes through the undulating woods and narrow fairways - a true test of golf. Very enjoyable day all round.
This course plays long
Prairie Isle provides a great round of challenging golf. From the white tees Prairie Isle covers 6255 yards for 18 holes and feels like it plays long pars at almost all par 4 and 5 holes. Many of the par 3's are island greens or have water to get around and many of the holes have water. Prairie Isle offers a very nice balance of 3, 4, and 5 par holes. The course offers a variety of settings to not only challenge you, but provide for a diverse golf experience. This is a well maintained and very scenic course that gives a secluded feel with very few houses and roads once you start play.
Prairie Isle
Challenging but not overwhelming. I hope I play better next time. Love the layout.
Prairie Isle Golf Course
The Good: Very well-conditioned parkland layout in northwest suburbs of Chicago, Prairie Isle is all golf and no hassle. Strong layout is relatively benign on the front and meanders through woods and hills on the closing nine. Great Par 5's, some strong dogleg Par 4's, and interesting Par 3's. Nice fairways and large, smooth greens. Nice putting green. GPS on carts. Good value at around $70 during peak season, but even better specials during off-season and twilight.
The Bad: Limited clubhouse amenities as there is no banquet or large restaurant area, and no on-course restrooms. Poor signage on the golf course. Poor driving range only has a few stations to hit into a net. Staff is friendly enough but no on-course service and pace of play can become a challenge during peak season.
The Verdict: Prairie Isle is a fun, sporty layout that won't break the bank. Classic target golf with few houses impacting the experience. Don't expect luxury, but expect to have fun!
Best Hole: The closing Par 5 is a whale of an uphill hill that bends around a large oak.
Recommend this course to all golfers.
I love the trees & hills on Prairie Isle GC! It's quite challenging a course for me and my son. We picked a perfect day to play and I love coming back here. We joined a couple of older players on the back nine and this made it all the more enjoyable as they were kind and quite charming. Overall a great day @ Prairie Isle!
Private course type tees & fairways
Having always enjoyed playing this nice layout, we were very pleased to find the course in the best condition we'd ever seen. The greens were a little too firm but putted true. Course maintenance crew should be highly commended for excellent job of providing Private Course type experience and a visually appealing vista.
Course is OK
The golf course itself is not so bad but this golf club does not have enough golf carts. We had to wait for 20 minutes to get golf cart.
At the turn log jam
As a two some, but behind a few foursomes the front nine moved along fine. However at the turn we noticed two groups, a 3 and a 4 some jumped in front of us. I went to the pro shop to find out what happened, but the gentleman I spoke with was indifferent to my being somewhat upset about this. Apparently the 2 groups took "a long break" at the turn, then jumped back in, at everyone else's expense. Not fair! Many courses limit the time spent at the turn to get a snack, apparently not at Prairie Isle. I won't be back! Too bad, it's a nice course that I've played many times, but 5 to 6 hour rounds, forget it!
Surprised
Layout was fun/interesting. Holes had variation. Some narrow, some more open. Nice elevation changes. Not a hit it as far as you can track, rather, you stop to think of the upcoming shot. I liked that.
Conditions were very good. Tee boxes, fine. Fairways, very good. Greens in great shape. Not too many unfixed ball marks and rolled true. Not fast but not slow, either.
All around a great experience. I found it to be truly enjoyable. I would definitely play again. One of the better courses in the immediate area.
Slow play and they don't care
Played on a Sunday morning. There were 2 or 3 groups of very slow players that held up the whole course. I called the pro shop from my cell phone to ask for a ranger. Was told they did not have one that day and that we should play through. You can't play through 3 groups. Ridiculous and Frustrating. 5:30 hours for 18 holes.
quality course
This was a fun course yet challenging due to elevation changes and the fact that you have to pick a landing spot for most tee shots. Its not just grip it and rip it for every hole. Fairways and greens were well maintained. The only downside was that they forgot to give me a scorecard.
surprised
Played first nine in 2hrs 20 minutes played 10 an 11 took and hour and we left.
