About
Bonnie Brook Golf Course, known amongst locals as simply "The Brook," is one of the most popular public courses on the North Shore. It has even been ranked as one of the top 50 public golf courses in the Chicagoland area. Designed in 1926 by James Foulis, the course has a classic feel to it with challenges that have withstood the test of time. The layout sprawls across a scenic natural landscape accented with gently rolling hills, tall native grasses, and sparkling lakes. The north branch of the Waukegan River also meanders through part of the golf course. The Bonnie Brook layout offers enough of a challenge for advanced players with narrow, tree-lined fairways and subtly tricky undulations throughout the spacious greens, but it is a round that is player friendly enough for any skill level to enjoy.

The Jewel
The Jewel of the North Shore never fails to provide a great golf experience. Even for late November the course was in top condition. Greens were excellent and fairways were pristeen. People come from miles away to play the trac. No wonder why..
Best kept secret in Lake County
A course that is perfect for every type of golfer - you just don't find many of these types around. I love the history of this Club - and it has alot of charm. Unusual layout with only one Par 3 on the back night - only 3 total. It has numerous tee boxes that allows players of all skill level to play. It is a challenging enough course for me to play from the back while my son-in -law and daughter can play the white tees. Another great sign is that it isn't fill with water hazards where the novice player loses 8-10 balls a round.
Fun set up on holes - outstanding greens and locations for pins that bring false fronts into play - forcing you to hit towards the middle of the greens on some of those front pins. On 9 and 18, you need to stay below the hole in order to score. Good location of bunkers and the course is well maintained. What I also love about this place is the way the locals and regular players treat this golf course - they respect it and treat it like a private club.
I play BonnieBrook, Thunderhawk and Sheperds Crook on a regular basis. These are 3 unique courses and they are all excellent. What I love about the Brook is bringing family members out here to spend time with them on a course that is fair for all of us when it comes to skill level. I cannot take them to the other two - too hard.
Only negative is the driving range. It is a bit short and the quality of the golf balls are beyond bad. Trying to work around the little creek should be looked at in order to flatten this facility out a little. It is an eyesore to a great facility. At least you do have one here - Shepperd's Crook doesn't have this. Would also be nice to have a chipping green but I know room could be an issue. Shrinking the putting green and locating this between that and the driving range could be an option.
Regardless - this is the best thing going in the town of Waukegan - just a fun place to play. I really love this course.

Fall golf
Fall golf at its best. Conditions were great for fall. Barely any leaves around which made the ball easy to find. Always a great course to play.

Decent Course!
With 70 degree weather we decided to get a round in. Wanted to try Bonnie and it was was a good decision. The course was is good shape. The Greens were aerated recently but it really didn’t affect the putting. Pace a play was good. The layout was ok. Lots of holes really close to each other but not too bad. The price was great $35 for 18 and cart. We would ply again.

Great Fall Conditions
The course was in great condition for the Fall. Special mention to the groundskeeper for keeping the course and greens in great condition. Friendly staff greeting golfers and staff who were considerate of golfers while they were working.

A wee Bonnie walk
Had been told that the greens were to be aerated Nov 3 but arrived to find they already had been. Overall , greens not a good as normal but not as bumpy as you'd think. Course was in great shape for as late in the year and number of rounds played there, Kudos to the course for their great maintenance efforts.
The wind was up so the course played longer and harder.
Good course to work the ball left and right on.

Wonderful Golf Course
Our first time at this course and surprisingly a great course. Course in great condition considering most other courseS are hard and dry. This course is absolutely fantastic! Greens in great condition. Perfect 18 holes with 2 par 6s in the front and 2 in the back. Challenging holes with trees on the left and right side of the fairways so best if you are able to hit straight down the fairway. Water comes into play In some of the holes. Impressive golf course.
