Great course!
Lots of challenging holes that make you
Play a tee shot a must work your shot to get around.. great all around value!!!
Extremely disappointed
Beautiful December day unfortunately I booked a round of golf here. It was going to be a challenge to get in 18 extremely hard to do when you only get 9 holes in 3 1/2 hours. The staff should let golfers know they are this backed up.
Bonus Late November Golf
Wonderful weather this day with virtually no wind. Our group had an enjoyable day except for somewhat slow play ahead of us (two complete turtle foursomes that had 2 holes open in front of them and putting everything out like it was high season!....the greens are minefields idiots) but still finished in slightly over 4 hours. Not too many leaves and the course was surprisingly dry. A few muds ball here and there....putting was an adventure but this time of year who cares.....you're out on the course in November. I can see why folks have been complaining about the green conditions this season.....they are in pretty rough shape with lots of ball marks (many not repaired) and sketchy grasses/bare spots.
One of my pet peeves about this course is that they have uneven large and smaller rocks in the ground that you have to traverse over to get to tees and green sites right next to the cart paths. Complete turned ankle busters, slippery and now it's even worse because in high traffic areas somebody thought it would be a stellar idea to install even smaller pebble rock/gravel that's easily kicked around everywhere....so if your ball is near those areas watch out because you could hit your ball (and a pebble or two) and put someone's eye out. You really have to watch your step - extremely dangerous and it gets old getting out the cart to reach the tee boxes and greens.....and it does slow play.
All in all fairly decent for the time of the season. Halfway house closed until next spring so stock up before heading out because this course doesn't come back after nine. This is a fun track to play but it gets too way too much play and over the past several years conditions have significantly deteriorated in all areas. Several years ago before those idiots at Billy Casper Mgmt took over this was a solid 4 plus experience.... now just a 3 star minor plus.....Casper Mgmt doesn't know how and doesn't care to properly maintain green sites at any of the courses they take over. $30 value weekday, $40 value weekends. Gird yourself for extremely slow play because of numerous water hazards....this was the first time I think I've ever gotten around this track in less than 4.5 hours and normally it's a 5 hour plus slog.
challenging convienent well maintained
price was right . only the par 3,s were easy. par 4,s and 5,s seemed to be a little more challenging then the average course . pace moved along nicely and the halfway house was still open. if there was anything to complain about there was a billion leaves to contend with on fairways
One of the Worst
The course conditions were ok. The leaves are always In play this time of year. The greens were fast and some worn out. The layout is horrible. You are playing on top of other holes which is a great challenge but dodging other golfers shots not so much fun. The part that was most upsetting was the pace of play, and operations. There is no reason people should just magically appear In front of you in the middle of front or back nine. We will not be going back again.
Nice layout
Found the layout enjoyable, this is a course where the missed fairways can cause some serious challenges. Great course for the price. I would like to play this one again.
The course was great
The course was in great condition. We went to 18 instead of 2 but then realized the hole numbers were on the rocks. Staff were very friendly.
This course sees a lot of action
Very busy course. Some wait from hole to hole but overall not the worst. 4 1/2 hour round easy. The course shows a lot of wear and tear. A lot of divot marks in the tee boxes, divot marks in the fairways and unrepaired ball marks on the greens. The rough was also a little thick which made it hard to track down your balls even when standing right over them. Bunkers we're in great condition. The course layout is very fun and challenging. Staff was excellent but didn't see the beer cart all front 9. There is a halfway house you play past on 3/4 holes so we stocked up then starting on hole 7 or 8. That was a little strange. Good food and drinks in Edge restaurant.
Nice Course, but Slow pace
We played the course on a Saturday afternoon. Waited on the tee at every hole and on second shots on every par 4 and 5. Our round took 5 hours. The whole course was backed up, so the delay was not attributable to just one slow group. The ranger apologized to us for the delay, but was unsuccessful at moving groups along. The course is challenging and well-groomed with water on many holes. The water does not come into play with reasonably accurate shots except on the first hole. Despite GolfNow's claim, the carts Do Not have GPS and have not for two years. Fairways are fairly wide and playable. The rough is thick and deep. Probably better to play this course during the week.

this course is awesome I like the length of the course , it's challenging but not discouraging!
Great Value
My wife and I played this course on the Wednesday after the 4th. We teed off around 8:30am and had a very enjoyable round. The course is in pretty good shape and the pace of play was great. We only had to wait one time and that was when a twosome cut in front of us on a hole. What stood out to me was how friendly the staff was. From the proshop, to the starter, to the ranger. Everyone told us to enjoy our round and thanked us for coming out.
Overall I think it was a pretty good value!
Wow...
...scenic, challenging, and enjoyable! One of the best courses for the money in Chicagoland.
