River Run Golf Club in Ocean City is just minutes away from the beach. The golf course has different front and back nines that make for an interesting round. This Gary Player design starts out across a wide-open landscape before moving on to more tree-lined terrain on the backside. The tighter back nine is tougher than the first nine but overall it's an approachable golf course. The player-friendly layout is gentle enough for beginners with medium-sized greens that aren't especially difficult and generous fairways that offer plenty of room. There is modest bunkering along the greens and fairways and a few lakes and some marshland come into play as well. While River Run Golf Club may not be the most formidable test, the course provides just enough of a challenge for scratch golfers.

River Run is an excellent expierence

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The course is in excellent condition with the exception of some of the roughs being long. This is probably because recent rain curtailed their ability to mow.
My only negative would be that there is a tendancy to over book the course. This would be OK if there were marshals on the course to monitor speed of play.
Overall, a great expierence.

Nothing special

Got a great hot deal for this course. Paid 85 bucks for a course that was regularly 120. I would never pay 120 for this course. Parking and dropping off of clubs was inconvenient. Small range. Starter told us we COULDN'T play the tips unless your a 1 handicap. (I'm a 4). There would have no reason why we couldnt play the tips except that the tee boxes for the tips were small and almost unplayable. One actually had a mat on it. Greens were extremely bumpy and inconsistent. Not a great impression of Ocean City golf for my first time.

Good value and a busy place

Polite staff. Pace a bit slow but moving steady. Greens slow not rolled yet at this time of early season.

Over all I would recommend this course

This course has some interesting holes. For example a par five that is practically a half circle in design. There are some 90 degree dog legs. Nice layout and design. This course usually is in very good condition, but I found the greens had been aerated recently and hadn't been rolled which made putting quite a challenge. I will wait 2-3 weeks before I play there again. Hopefully the greens will be in better shape by then.

Decent, but not wonderful

Recent spring maintenance on the course left it a little less than great (top-dressed, aerification, etc). Also, the pace was fairly slow. I do not think that I would pay the full price for a round of golf here, but with good use of the specials and price deals, it is fine. I do think I have played some more entertaining Gary Player courses, as there were quite a few boring holes. However, the pretty blooming trees made the course a little nicer than many of the open links-type courses in the area.

exceptional layout, especially for the average player

We played after a very heavy rain the night before. Cart path
only. Course was still very playable. Our first visit. Staff was
very friendly. The course is eye appealing. No two holes are
even remotely the same which I like. Mature trees line many
of the fairways but dont come in play. Most fairways are wide.
Greens were excellent. Cant wait to get back in the spring and
summer when trees are leaved and flowers are blooming.
It will be beautiful.

This course offers a nice variety of holes

I play this course at least once a year. It has 4 sets of tees and can be challenging depending on which you choose. Despite the flat terrain of the area, the layout provides a variety of holes. Landing areas are mostly generous. The greens were recently airreated but rolled pretty true. Conditions were OK for December - the grass was still green - no Bermuda here. One of the fairways had been recently reseeded - no worries we simply rolled our balls for a reasonable lie. The electric cart (needed and included in the fee since there's a long way between green and tee especially on the back 9) was the fastest I've ever experienced!

Course Condition....

At this time, River Run was in bad shape. We played it earlier in the summer and it was in great shape. We were surprised to see the shape it was in late September. Expected better.

Great course, even with all the rain

The course was in great shape despite almost an inch of rain that fell the night before. About 90% of the course was perfect. there were a couple of low spots that were a little soggy, but we have played other courses in the OC area that get much wetter with much less rain. Hats off to the crew over there.

Course is challenging, but was very managable and we all had fun (range of 13-24 handicaps in our group).

Challenging course, tight but in great condition

The course was in great condition and the staff was friendly and accomodating. I forgot my golf shoes and dreaded having to buy a pair there but found the prices to be fair and the selection more than adequate.
