Ocean Resorts Golf Club

About
Located just six miles west of Ocean City, Md., Ocean Resorts Golf Club is a good option if you're looking for a round that is fun to play but still a good value. The course is known for being player friendly enough for any skill level but there are still several challenges in store with multiple sets of tees that range from 4,800 to 6,500 yards. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and there are also several strategically placed bunkers you'll have to contend with. The layout rewards proper club selection and good strategy but it's not overly punishing for high handicappers. A unique aspect of Ocean Resorts is that it's owned by the Wor-Wic Community College.

Challenging, but excellent course
Some halls need better maintenance. But overall good challengin course and we had fun!
Mixed emotions
Friendly staff, nice layout, and pace of play was great. Guessing all of this is the case because they know they had a tough summer with course conditions. The course needs lots of work. Most greens were unplayable. The tee boxes neededattention. I hope they can find the answers to those issues. We played for about $50 and I thought that was a lot based on the conditions.
Friendly staff, poor conditions
Played by myself one summer afternoon. The staff was friendly and apologized that the course was not in great shape. Unfortunately, they were correct. Some fairways were very wet with pooled water. Many greens were completely dry - like putting on concrete. Layout was fun and challenging I was able to play quickly. Unfortunately as is now cannot recommend. If things improved, could be a solid muni, good vale.
Horrible conditions Don't Play 2025
I've never played on a course with such poor conditions. Tee boxes were either rolled dirt with no grass or sod that was either soaking wet and dead or just dead sod. Hit a ball into hazard on 10 filled sign that said drop zone ahead to find no drop zone sign or no area mowed to suggest a drop drop zone existed. Greens were rolled dirt with grooves going perpendicular all over, NO GRASS!
Don't do it!
Last year they closed for a few weeks to remedy issues they should have done that this year!! Horrible conditions.
Terrible Conditions
This course is in terrible conditions! When we arrived the gentleman at the desk stated that the course was not in good shape! After playing the first hole we realized he wasn’t exaggerating with that statement! The tee boxes were burnt, saturated with water and sod. The fairways were terrible, they hardly had grass on them. The greens were burnt and some didn’t even have grass. We didn’t even play the full 18 holes. When we finished playing 10 holes I spoke to the gentleman at the desk and he stated that the back 9 was worse than the front nine! Since we payed through Golf Now he couldn’t give us a refund but told us to make sure we let you know so that you could give us a credit! I have played this course in the past but I will never return after today’s experience! I did take a few pictures but I should have taken plenty more but this course really should closed for the season or at least until they are in better condition!
Don't play Ocean City Resorts 2025
The course is in horrible shape. T boxes are all over the place. T boxes are fresh wet dead sod or in-mowed random place. Signs for drop zone ahead yet when you drive up no drop sign or mowed area to assume a drop area. Can't find balls anywhere.
Don't get me started on greens!!! Might as well put on cement. There is no grass!! Just rolled dirt with patterned groves in every direction. I'd do better following the yellow brick road.
Save your money. Even with hot deals not worth it
Not worth a hot deal at $53
Bummer... other reviews were right. Rip off at $53 hot deal. The greens in the shade of the tall trees are bad - rotted, baked, or just dead. Many other areas of bald dirt/sand/mud around the course too. Fact. Tried to upload photos but couldn't.
Subjectively, the layout asks questions that are hard to answer. Short and tight can be fun, but this course wasn't fun. Opinion.
The practice area and price for balls was good.
River Run has similar problems with the conditions: too wet, bit only played there once, so maybe I caught it on a bad week.
Ocean Pines was alright.
Ruark courses are expensive, but I really like the Glen Riddle property. Haven't played the others. I'm a range rat, so having the range balls included adds a lot of value for me at the Ruark Properties - not shilling, just giving my perspective.
Ocean City Club looks alright too. Nice practice area.
Improved, But Still A Ways To Go
I’ve played Ocean Resorts about once/year for several summers when in Ocean City MD. The course has a connection with the local community college, where students can learn golf course maintenance, so fairly affordable compared to others in area but course usually in sketchy condition. This time, some improvements to the tee boxes and 2-3 greens, but several greens still have no grass, and the lack of recent rain makes them feel like putting on concrete. If they could improve the condition of the greens and some fairways, this would be a good value for the high-handicap golfer, as the layout is a pretty good challenge.
One of the worst courses I've ever played
Im an avid golfer who plays at least once a week year round. This had to have been one of the worst conditions I have ever played. Half the greens weren't greens, they were completely dirt. Hole #10 was cart part only due to the entire fairway being a mud swamp. You can tell the course does not care at all about the course. Its very sad that they are stealing your money by having this course still open in these horrible conditions. Please do better.
Ocean Resort G.C.
I wouldn't recommend Ocean Resort at this time. They are working hard on maintaining the course conditions at this time. The staff was very friendly. The pace of play was good.
You definitely have to use the directional poles as your guide for where to aim. There are times when you have two greens in your field of view. Some holes will challenge you to make good placed drives. When the conditions improve this course will challenge you enough.
Very surprised never played courses in ocean city even close to being this bad,
Great staff but the course conditions are as bad as it gets. Most greens have no grass and you’re putting on dirt.
