In the past I wasn't fond of this course. Have played it several times recently and have been pleasantly surprised and pleased with the condition of the entire course. It is now one of my teams favorite places to play and the course and staff seem to be senior player friendly.
Unbelievable fairways and greens
Awesome course for the price you pay! Each hole has its own unique characteristics that enhance the features of the course that much more! Back 9 in my opinion offers more challenges, while the front 9 prepares you for the back with scenic surroundings! A personal favorite of mine was the driveable 8th hole, very exciting hole! I will be sure to visit again with just as much excitement! It would be great if all courses I played were like Connemara!
Holding up well
I had not played this course in 20 years and was pleasantly surprised that it has held up well over the years. I understand that the corporate ownership has invested in the course and it shows. Greens, while not terribly fast, rolled well. Fairways seemed to be cut narrow but were in great shape. Rough was a penalty but was consistent across the course. Bunkers were raked and filled with sand...no rocks or dirt that I saw. For the "good" golfer, this will be any easy round as there isn't much trouble outside of some thick lies in the rough. Only complaint I've ever had about this course is the grouping of the "pars". Par 5s are too concentrated; you start with 3 in the first 4 holes (nines have flipped in more recent history) and finish with 3 straight par 4s, so premium will be to score on the front nine. Also, the white tees we used to play years ago are aligned with the blue tees of today (~6200 yds). All in all, a great experience for weekday golf. Unlike some other courses in the area, Connemara has remained a nice course to play and one that I would happily return to soon.
Great condition
I had played Connemara several times in the past, maybe once a year because it's an hour and a half away. I had seen it in less than great shape sometimes, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find the condition much improved. Fairways like carpet, greens fast and true, even though they gave me fits with their subtle breaks. I have always liked the pampas grass markers at 150. I think they are classy and user friendly, you can see them from anywhere. The club house is a great old structure and they have a good menu. I have to say, also, that it was very chilly in there, with it being a very hot humid day was much appreciated. The golf carts looked brand new. Can't wait to go back.
Greens were in great shape
Course in good shape, greens in great shape.
Long native areas everywhere to divide the holes, so bring a few extra just in case.
A few quirky holes and a few blind shots but overall a fun and challenging course
Great layout
This course has a great, challenging layout. It is also in excellent condition. The carts are nearly new and always clean.
This course is in very good condition.
Course was in very good condition and the greens rolled true. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the layout. Will definitely go back
Nice course
This is a nice course. Super friendly girl in the clubhouse. Was a little late for the hot deal tee time which always worries me. But she was super friendly and had no problems with the late start. Course is in excellent shape and the greens roll absolutely true. Must be careful on a few holes to keep the ball on the green. Nice mix of holes. You wont have a bad day here.
Great condition
The course was in great condition. Staff was very helpful and friendly the entire time we were there. I would recommend this course to anyone. We played earlier in the morning and the course was not too crowded. I know that later during the day the course gets a lot more traffic. I would recommend playing in the morning.
Tough, unfair course
Extremely difficult and unfair course. Ball in the rough is a lost ball. Fairways are narrow with many blind tee shots, resulting in several lost balls. Won't be back.
Bang for your buck
Connemara is a fantistic golf course at a very great price. The greens are fast and well-maintained and the fairways are in immaculate shape. The rough isn't so bad and there are enough hazards that an amateur won't have a super easy time, but not so many that you feel completely out of your element. I really enjoy playing here.
Rough round of golf
Played on a very windy afternoon. It had rained that morning, so I will give the groundskeepers the benefit of the doubt and assume they had planned to mow the rough that morning. The wind put quite a few of my drives in the rough (...and I'm sticking to that story). Of the balls I could find that landed in there, it wasn't much fun hitting out of. Enough said.
Other than that, the fairways and greens were in good shape,. It's a mostly open course, with a fair amount of sloping fairways and greens. I've played it a few time, and the pace has always been pretty quick: about 3.5 hrs.
damp day
greens were very good as were the fairways, course seemed to be behind in mowing due to a week of wet weather....rough was very difficult.
Course is in pretty good shape. Rough is thick which makes it a good challenge if your tee shot isn't in the fairway. Was unstatified with Larry in the pro shop his body language and tone of voice made you feel unwelcomed.
Solid golf course
They have made some very positive updates and put some money back into the course and you can tell. It's early in the season but if they continue to maintain it and possibly speed up the greens it will definitely be a good course for the price. For $16, it's the best Cali in the area honestly. 3 par 5s in the first 4 holes is fun and leads to some scoring chances but there are a lot of blind shots that can lead to slower pace of play if the rough is up. That can be frustrating but all in all a great course for the price.
