Connemara
This course is a surprise value. The facilities are good, the layout is good, and everything was in good condition. One of the best golf values in Lexington, and when you use golfnow, its even better. The bunkers needed a little work, but considering how fast this course has improved over 3 years ago, the bunkers will get the needed attention soon.
Improvement Apparent
This was my first time to Connemara in over 5 years and the improvements are clearly visible. I would suggest giving Connemara a try if you haven't played it recently.
Great Pace of Play
Connemara is a beautiful course with a great staff. I was able to play on a Saturday morning in 31/2 hours. Pace of play was great and the course gave a good challenge. A perfect course for a round of golf with friends.
Great Staff
It seems like every time I play at Connemara, the pro shop staff always puts me in a good mood and I feel better when I start to play. All of the staff seems to go out of their way to insure that we have a good experience. After playing golf, we had lunch and I was quite surprised at how friendly Maya was and she recommended several choices for lunch, which was excellent.
Nick was the first staff member I met and Larry was the last one. Kudos to both of those gentlemen for making our day a successful one. I would recommend this course to anyone.
A good course to play
Nice course. Wish they would fix the par 3. Greens were in good condition overall. Nice deal received through GN. Brought the itch back to play again after a rough winter!
Poor staff assistance
I showed up 15 minutes early for my tee time, and the guy in the pro shop told me my playing partners had already checked in and got the carts and teed off. I mentioned that I wasn't late or anything and he said he knew that, but it wasn't his problem they had gone on and it would be up to me to track them down.
Slow Play made for a long day
This was one of the first days above 50 degrees in several weeks, so I expected the course to be busy. Instead, the course was grossly overbooked.
When we arrived there were four groups waiting on the first tee. After settling up in the pro shop we were told that two holes were closed that day. Nearly FIVE AND A HALF hours and only sixteen holes later, we finally finished our round. We were even forced to follow a group of seven (yes - seven people on one hole at the same time) for several holes. This, of course, could easily have been avoided if the ranger the pro shop mentioned had actually existed.
All in all it was very dissapointing .
Maybe it's just my luck...
I enjoy playing this course because it has a mixture of tough and not-so-tough shots, so as not to completely overwhelm the average golfer. The only problem I have is that it's almost impossible to get in a 4-hour round here. Maybe it's pure coincidence, but every single time I've played this course (with 1 exception, when it was very chilly and rainy), the pace seems awfully slow.
No.5 under construciton
we surprised that No.5 was closed when we finished No.4....
fantastic value on a really nice course
Got this round for me and my brother in law. Great price. Course in really good condition.
Under maintenance/construction
This is a fine course, pretty wide open. Just be aware that they recently aerated, and hole #5 is currently closed. Greens are nearly impossible due to aeration and sand. White Tees are moved up making the course considerably shorter.
Excellent greens
Course layout is not the greatest, but still somewhat challenging on a few holes.
Connemara : A True Gem
I returned to Connemara last year for the first time in quite a few years and found huge improvements to the course. I credit this in part to it being now owner and managed by Nicholasville, Ky. and International business man Pearse Lyons. I know that Mr. Lyons doesn't associate himself with anything that isn't first class and that is what Connemara is these days in my opinion. The course is in excellent shape, fairways, tee boxes, greens could you some improvement, but overall if you haven't ever played or haven't played Connemara in a long time, you will be pleased.
Challenging Course
The Links style course which is a drastic change from everything else in Lexington is fun and exciting but can be hard because I lost a ton of balls just off the fairway.
Golf 101 Review
Good play for the money, course was under minor construction. fairways and greens in excellent shape. Tee boxes were a little rough. Not crowded at all, nice and quiet place. Staff was super friendly and helpful.
Good!
It was very busy but not so make me frastrate. Price was good if you use GOLFNOW app.
Review
This is a good course to play in the lexington ky area. The staff is friendly has great practice area. The only knock I have on the course was pace of play, it was a little slow. I love the greens they are always so quick and enjoy the way you have to read the greens.
Liked new layout
I have played Connemara earlier in the year and didn't really enjoy the course. They have changed the layout of some of the holes #1 and #15, and that seemed to help reduce the number of blind shots. The fairways and sand traps are always in good shape there, but they did have a couple of greens that had been damaged by the weather conditions. I have to say that I enjoyed the round and the price was great. I will go back again soon.
Connemara new layout
I have played here for easily the last decade steadily, and they(new management/ownership) have done an amazing job upgrading this course. I really like the new layout, and love all the upgrades they have made throughout. The pace of play was really quick and you can't beat the Golfnow rates. They ran a twosome special, and we played in the afternoon for 25 apiece. Greens were in good shape and I love that they stretched out the holes to add distance. Shot an 83 and made a few birdies and played well from the tips. All in all, a good day of golf. This place is no longer the goat farm it once was.
