Eastmoreland Golf Course
About
Eastmoreland Golf Course was laid out in 1917 by National Amateur Champion, H. Chandlar Egan. Today, Eastmoreland is ranked by Golf Digest among the top public courses in the country. Eastmoreland is as beautiful as it is challenging, bordered in part by Portland’s Rhododendron Gardens and Crystal Springs Lake. The environment provides a home for thousands of birds including great blue herons, mallards, wood ducks and more. The tree-lined fairways are beautiful year round and the natural hazards such as ravines, streams and lakes require the best from any golfer.

Eastmoreland GolfNow Booking
Having used GolfNow frequently, I was surprised to see a tee-time change notification from 10:50 AM to 11:41 AM. I did not see the email notification until after the round was played. Had we chosen to walk, the additional heat later in the day may have been challenging, but as a cart golf round, the weather was perfect and the delay afforded us time for a warm-up bucket and some short-game practice before teeing off.
Eastmoreland, is still ranked highly on national public course list, has hosted hosted two USGA Public Links Championships and has been home of the annual Portland City Golf Championship. Adjacent to water hazards and the International Rhododendron Test Gardens, the back-nine in particular, is as beautiful as it is challenging.
9 holes
Our first time
Very pleased
Pro shop staff cooperative and friendly
Wanted to play the back 9 but they were too busy
Will certainly return!
Their pricing structure confusing to me but GolfNow eliminates that!
Course in great condition
Several course marshals driving around.. friendly
Great course for the money
Absolutely loved playing this course this morning. It is in great shape and the layout is different than most layouts. The greens are not too fast but a little faster than average for a municipal course. There are a lot of trees so you need to drive it straight. The bunkers can use some more sand but they are easy enough to avoid if you want to. Definitely recommend this course to anyone looking for a great course to play.
Course
Course was a lot nicer then it was about 2 years ago. Greens were nice and pretty fast, fairways were nice, and staff was super friendly. Only thing that I hated and cant stand but it's all over was the fact that the greens were littered with divits and ball Mark's. I know that's no fault of the course staff but it's really annoying having to fix 12 divits in your line before you try and putt. Other then that the course was amazing and I will for sure be playing there again!!
Grand old course
It’s in great shape. The only issue, and it’s not a deal breaker, is the goose poop on a couple of the holes on the back nine
Maybe they can get some of those plywood coyotes to scare them away. Evidently Nike uses them on their grounds with success and moves them around every few days so the look doesn’t get “stale”
Great course for the price
I’ve played here when it’s been full of goose crap and nutria crap, and this time was better. I took off early (7:00ish) and our threesome took a little over three hours, which was nice. The folks that play this course often do not repair ball marks on the green, and that’s a big pet peeve of mine. I often repair more than my share of marks, and I had too many choices on each green.
Golfers duty.
How difficult is it to replace your divot? Not very, but the course looked like it takes a major effort. You make a divot, fix it!
Greens were fast and in great shape, lucky to have this well played course so close to home.
Eastmoreland - just an awesome course
I just love this course, it’s old school with some tight fairways and sloped greens that are a joy to putt on! Pretty fast and faster then the practice green. I like to freewheel it off the tee so this course is good for me to learn more how to back off and place it in the right spot if the driver is a little off, but when it’s working well you can take advantage of the shorter holes. Always have a good time here playing as a single meeting new golfers
Playing local
Everything was perfect! The course condition was amazing, the greens were smooth and true. Great job !
Staff do not care
I was forced to wait 20 minutes while making the turn to join a threesome, one of whom was smoking right in front of the no smoking sign on #10 in front of a marshal. Later on at #17, the same marshal came up in a cart and chatted with the same guy who was....smoking...as he did the entire time. Staff do not enforce the Portland Public Golf policy of no smoking and do not care about people who ...like me...are allergic to it. I won't be back.
Jus awesome in spring
If you like the traditional layout of an park style course you will love it. The course is around 100 years old and also has a Rhododendrons Park integrated. In spring it is just a fantastic view with all the blossoming trees and rhododendrons around. Very diversified golf course with excellent maintained fairways and greens.
Great Value
This is a great mature course. I would have given a higher rating but the greens had been plugged and sanded recently. Looks like they have been trimming trees and sanding low areas to improve drainage. I can’t wait to play again in a few weeks!
Portland gem
Old school course, back side adjoins the Crystal Springs Rhoddedendron gardens. Looks like they have been working on the greens and opening the views. In Portland we are blessed with good munis!
Needs better drainage
The fairways were holding excessive water below the surface. It was like walking on a blanket over pudding. Balls were plugging in the fairways, the fairways were covered in goose droppings, and there couldn’t have been any sand or drainage added to the fairways in years. I guess that’s what you get from municipal courses in Portland. Collect the fees and taxes but don’t spend them for the intended purpose.
