Eastmoreland Golf Course was laid out in 1917 by National Amateur Champion, H. Chandlar Egan. Today, Eastmoreland is ranked by Golf Digest among the top public courses in the country. Eastmoreland is as beautiful as it is challenging, bordered in part by Portland’s Rhododendron Gardens and Crystal Springs Lake. The environment provides a home for thousands of birds including great blue herons, mallards, wood ducks and more. The tree-lined fairways are beautiful year round and the natural hazards such as ravines, streams and lakes require the best from any golfer.

Great course for the price

I’ve played here when it’s been full of goose crap and nutria crap, and this time was better. I took off early (7:00ish) and our threesome took a little over three hours, which was nice. The folks that play this course often do not repair ball marks on the green, and that’s a big pet peeve of mine. I often repair more than my share of marks, and I had too many choices on each green.

Golfers duty.

How difficult is it to replace your divot? Not very, but the course looked like it takes a major effort. You make a divot, fix it!

Greens were fast and in great shape, lucky to have this well played course so close to home.

Eastmoreland - just an awesome course

I just love this course, it’s old school with some tight fairways and sloped greens that are a joy to putt on! Pretty fast and faster then the practice green. I like to freewheel it off the tee so this course is good for me to learn more how to back off and place it in the right spot if the driver is a little off, but when it’s working well you can take advantage of the shorter holes. Always have a good time here playing as a single meeting new golfers

Staff do not care

I was forced to wait 20 minutes while making the turn to join a threesome, one of whom was smoking right in front of the no smoking sign on #10 in front of a marshal. Later on at #17, the same marshal came up in a cart and chatted with the same guy who was....smoking...as he did the entire time. Staff do not enforce the Portland Public Golf policy of no smoking and do not care about people who ...like me...are allergic to it. I won't be back.

Jus awesome in spring

If you like the traditional layout of an park style course you will love it. The course is around 100 years old and also has a Rhododendrons Park integrated. In spring it is just a fantastic view with all the blossoming trees and rhododendrons around. Very diversified golf course with excellent maintained fairways and greens.

Great Value

This is a great mature course. I would have given a higher rating but the greens had been plugged and sanded recently. Looks like they have been trimming trees and sanding low areas to improve drainage. I can’t wait to play again in a few weeks!

Portland gem

Old school course, back side adjoins the Crystal Springs Rhoddedendron gardens. Looks like they have been working on the greens and opening the views. In Portland we are blessed with good munis!

Needs better drainage

The fairways were holding excessive water below the surface. It was like walking on a blanket over pudding. Balls were plugging in the fairways, the fairways were covered in goose droppings, and there couldn’t have been any sand or drainage added to the fairways in years. I guess that’s what you get from municipal courses in Portland. Collect the fees and taxes but don’t spend them for the intended purpose.

February Sunday at East Moreland

I woke up and looked outside and the weather was great. Checked GolfNow and they had 18 holes for $20! Hard to beat that price. I have played this course probably 50 times and this was by far the best condition I’ve ever seen it in mid February. Was very happy with my round.

Challenging course with many risk reward opportunities.

I rated the course conditions good because the greens are almost always in very good shape. However Drainage can be as issue but better than it used to be. Beautiful course that offers many challenges. Plays longer because many tee shots are lay ups. Be prepared to use most of your bag as this course rewards course management skills and accuracy.

Good challenging course for the money

Fun hard course. Have to hit it straight to be successful, but good scenic holes and descent greens for when I played in December. Enjoy!

December golfing bonus

You get what you can when you try to play golf in Oregon in December. The course was wet but not too wet, no lost plugged balls. The greens were in great condition and the day was marvelous. All in all a amazing round.
