Eastmoreland Golf Course
About
Eastmoreland Golf Course was laid out in 1917 by National Amateur Champion, H. Chandlar Egan. Today, Eastmoreland is ranked by Golf Digest among the top public courses in the country. Eastmoreland is as beautiful as it is challenging, bordered in part by Portland’s Rhododendron Gardens and Crystal Springs Lake. The environment provides a home for thousands of birds including great blue herons, mallards, wood ducks and more. The tree-lined fairways are beautiful year round and the natural hazards such as ravines, streams and lakes require the best from any golfer.

Love the layout and old growth trees
I would recommend this course to anyone that loves to play golf
Eastmoreland golf
The course is getting drier as the summer progresses but the greens are in great condition. The Marshall did a tremendous job of keeping the pace of play moving along with beginner golfers on the course, eventually talking them into coming back another day. People have to replace their divots, if you don't it hurts us all.
Sunday Funday
It has been a long time coming. I have wanted to play this course for about a year now but never actually got to go out and swing the sticks at it. Today was the day. Let me tell you, I picked a great day!!
The Tee time was at 12:30 and actually ended up teeing off just before that. I was playing by myself, riding a cart so I knew I was going to be a faster pace than most groups out. The front 9 was pretty crowded and packed with a couple of larger groups. That didn't bother me though. When I play by myself I expect to catch up to groups and not worry about pace of play as much.
The front 9 is more of a straight shooters paradise. The fairways are skinny and the trees alongside you are unforgiving. Trust me, they like to steal your balls. The 5th hole is an elevated par three tee. I am always one to like elevated tees. This hole was probably the highlight of the front 9 for me.
The back 9 feels like a completely different course. You no longer have skinny fairways lined with trees but in fact have other hazards. The 11th hole is where you truly start to see that there is going to be some water in play. The 12th is a par three that you have to hit an elevated green over water. This is where the course begins to get really fun. As you play the back 9 you remember why you play golf. Challenges, scenery, and a good time are some of the thoughts that go through your mind.
All in all I would say Eastmoreland is a great course and will not disappoint. In my opinion the highlight of this course is the 17th tee where you feel as if its almost a small version of the TPC Sawgrass island green. Granted its not quite an island but gives you the same thought. I would highly recommend this course to anyone in the Portland area.
Warning: I have heard from multiple sources that rainy season does not do this course good.
Pure Portland Golf
It was a typical Oregon day - overcast with a chance of rain. It never did more than spit on us but every course in Oregon is showing the effects of the past winter. We went out at 10 am - 2 guys in a cart - and we pretty much had the course to ourselves. 16 was pretty mushy but otherwise I'd say the course was in good shape despite the previous day's rain. Greens were a tad slow but otherwise in good shape. Neither of us lost a ball on the front nine, which is good for us. The back nine is definitely more challenging than the front but I love this course and plan to back in a few weeks.
Tough track that tests every club in your bag and and how you shape each shot. Not the longest course, but has some great natural defenses to guard from the long hitter over powering the layout. Greens are always hard and fast and if people would fix their ball mark and look for one more like your supposed too, they would be fantastic!
Good condition under nice weather
The course was very muddy during the late Winter due to long wet season. After several days of dry weather, the course was very playable and good. There are still some spots where the grass could have been kept better, but overall it was a great deal. I will come back and play again.
Terrible Drainage.
Not a good winter course, lots of mud & goose scat.
A day at the swamp
I've Played this course many times, but today the course shouldn't have even been open. If you drove it, you would lose balls in the middle of the fairway from being plugged. (Same thing on the greens honestly) there was standing water everywhere on the course, to the point where the bunkers that were normally dry looked like mini pools, filled to the brim with water (ex: hole 8)
In good shape
The course was in good shape for this late in the summer, although the greens have been painted an artificial lush green that frankly looks kind of absurd and unnatural. Not sure why they felt this was necessary.
good course
Eastmorland is a great course. the weather was overcast and almost nobody was playing, but conditions were good and pace was great.
This course has challenging fairways but fun
Good overall course. Can only use driver on about 5 or 6 holes as there is a lot of features on the course that make you layup on most holes. It is a great course for the money you spend and really makes you use a lot of different clubs in your bag.
Nice course
First time playing this course. The staff was very accommodating,I needed to rent clubs they gave me the better clubs for a cheaper rate and threw in a yardage book for free. The course was in great shape, the greens rolled true. The back nine is pretty challenging but if you can hit it straight you will do well. All in all a very good outing. If you're in Portland play this course
Nice Day
Staff was really friendly and helpful. Pace of play was just right. Greens were in great shape.
This a very good public course
Green fees reasonable and course is challenging for a public course. Parking can be a challenge though.
Great course
Was a great value, single paired with a 3some, slow new players, 1 good golfer, kept it entertaining.
Great course, great weather
The front and back nines are so different. If you have not played the back nine, ask ahead of time and take notes. Course was in immaculate condition, having just hosted the City Championships.
