About
Nestled in the foothills of the Catoctin Mountains about 15 minutes from Fredricksburg, Glade Valley Golf Club has been selected as a top-100 golf course in the Mid-Atlantic region by Washington Golf Monthly. The Jim Reck design, which opened in 1990, has a nice mix of woods, water, natural habitat and sand traps that will test golfers, but the golf course isn't overly difficult.

Very disappointed
My children and I were looking forward to a golf outing. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. It rained all day. However, when I contacted the club, they said they weren't closing. I will be paying for a round that was unplayable.

Nice course and friendly staff
After considering reviews of the course which indicated it was slow with a sometimes with some unfriendly staff, I decided to book a tee time because people liked the course itself.
My day started with me interpreting the reservation incorrectly. However the staff was friendly and flexible, fitting me into the schedule with some friendly players.
For the course itself, the fairways and bunkers were in good shape and the greens were in really good shape. There were a few tight, wooded holes on the back 9, but most of the holes while having their challenges, were generally forgiving of off-target balls.
For pace of play, we teed off at 10am and finished at ~2:30. We did not have to wait very much for the people in front of us, so cannot complain. There were a few times we found the people behind us waiting for us, but no complaints. All went well.
All and all, a nice experience on a nice course at a nice price.

Nice course
I have played Glade Valley many times, and will continue to play it for years to come. It is not a "top of the line" course, but I has a nice lay out that makes you play your lines, they have a fair driving range, beautiful country setting, friendly and helpful staff, well kept fairways and greens, and decent food. They don't have a lot on the menu, but what they have is good!
Can't complain about the cost, either.
Glade Valley is my favorite local course, and have and will continue to recommend playing there.

Our group of 4 singles was forced to share carts even though the course had plenty of carts available. Having our own carts would have made the game go a lot faster. The group included 2 players playing from the tips who had no business doing so and spent a lot of time looking for their balls. The group in front of us was also very slow.
Fairways and greens were in great condition; sand traps and tee boxes not so much. They have begun putting water coolers out on the course but not ballwashers.

Mixed feelings
The course is in good condition. Fairways are in good shape greens are good but slow. Sand traps in desperate need of repair. Pace of play was horrific but that always seems to be the case at this course so I knew that going into the round. My major problem with this course is the lack of professionalism from the management. I personally witnessed the general manager ride up to a group playing on the second hole and start screaming threatening and And being aggressive towards a paying customer. I do not know how this situation started but even if the guest was at fault it was very unprofessional for a general manager of a golf course to act in this manner. Screaming and yelling cussing and being aggressive and threatening..Even with the slow pace of play I have always enjoyed this golf course. The Three gentlemen I was paired with were absolute pleasure to play golf with and we had a good time. But I’m sad to say that I will not be returning to this golf facility under the current management.

Course is Improved
The course has improved a lot over the last 3 weeks. Everything is greener. Tee boxes are better. Fairways are nice. Greens are well maintained and very puttable. Sand is being added to the sand traps. The course is looking up.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced at the course. As far as the raincheck goes, sounds like you prepaid for a Hot Deal on GolfNow. When this is the case, no money is paid to the pro-shop so there is no money that is owed back from the course. You may have booked other course times through GolfNow and that is why you were able to obtain a raincheck. If you call GolfNow, they would be happy to rectify the situation. We hope this clears any confusion up and we hope you give us another try in the future.
