About
Nestled in the foothills of the Catoctin Mountains about 15 minutes from Fredricksburg, Glade Valley Golf Club has been selected as a top-100 golf course in the Mid-Atlantic region by Washington Golf Monthly. The Jim Reck design, which opened in 1990, has a nice mix of woods, water, natural habitat and sand traps that will test golfers, but the golf course isn't overly difficult.

Course is Improved
The course has improved a lot over the last 3 weeks. Everything is greener. Tee boxes are better. Fairways are nice. Greens are well maintained and very puttable. Sand is being added to the sand traps. The course is looking up.

Mostly a Friendly layout
Greens, tee box and fairways were all in very good shape. Traps are not so great and that is primarily because the sand has a lot of small rocks to include one that was under the sand when I hit a shot that impacted me having favorable results. Well at least that is the story & I am sticking too it while blaming the sand trap's course material. Pace of play was slow. 4 1/2 hrs to play. Didn't see a Marshall but on any given day at any given course, slow play can be plagued with a few very slow groups the set the pace. There are maybe 3 challenging holes that will really test your shot skills and nerves, but all in all, I like this course and only found my self in trouble on 3 of the easiest straight forward Par 3's of which two where triple bogeys. Next time I won't take these holes for granite. A fun play with a lot of tempting Grip it & Rip it tee shots for those who can't resist.

Too wet for carts
Had a great time and the course was in very good condition but we had to abide by the Cart Path Only rule due to soggy conditions.

Beautiful farmland surrounds, wonderful trees and places well. Course in very good condition. Straightforward layout with plenty of shots for very skill level. Great value !

A course for golf lovers
Tucked away on the outskirts of Frederick. Played this course in 30 degree weather with wind. It demands a little bit of everything. Layout is uncompromised and a blast to play. However our balls were pinging off the greens due to the cold weather. Made this relatively moderate difficulty course into an exercise of mastery. Will be back

Did not play today Had to miss due to Hospital stay.
I didn't play I was in the Hospital. I've played their many times and I'm looking forward to going back. Glade Valley is my favorite course in all of Maryland. The course is well maintained, the staff is always friendly & accommodating.
