About
Nestled in the foothills of the Catoctin Mountains about 15 minutes from Fredricksburg, Glade Valley Golf Club has been selected as a top-100 golf course in the Mid-Atlantic region by Washington Golf Monthly. The Jim Reck design, which opened in 1990, has a nice mix of woods, water, natural habitat and sand traps that will test golfers, but the golf course isn't overly difficult.

Great Value
Play here once every 6 weeks. Great value for the money. Course can use a little more maintenance, but overall excellent time, as always.

A slow Friday afternoon
5.25 hours for a round on a Friday afternoon was much too long. We waited on every shot.
Course was a little scruffy at this time of year but not a big surprise.
Greens were not as well kept as I remember for this course.

Shaggy fairways, short staffed
The clubhouse was short staffed which made check in take longer than it should. The fairways were very shaggy I’m guessing the maintenance staff is short handed also. The greens were kinda beat up and slow. i have played here when it has been in Better condition but I always seem to have a good time. The pace wasn’t terrible but there was a foursome ahead of us that was holding everyone up and no marshal in sight ( I’m guessing due to short staffing ) . I’ll play here again just with lower expectations.

Good course and ability to spray off the tee
Overall .. fairways & greens were a little furry but it was getting cut while we played .. all but two holes were pretty straight but still a good track .. got an amazing deal on GolfNow for $15 to play at 10:30am .. it’s worth $35-40 during the week .. definitely worth coming back ! .. woman in the pro shop was super friendly !

The course needs work
The tee boxes were spotty. The fairways were patchy and some of the greens had patches of crabgrass. This course has been in much better shape in the past. I'm hoping that after COVID, it will return to what it use to be.

Great course for those needing a little confidence boost.
While the course is in no way easy it is just challenging enough for skilled golfer and rewarding enough to for intermediate golfers. Nice flat layout for the fairways to help you have a chance at the green but many of the greens are uphill which provides a nice challenge. When we played the tee boxes could use some mowing and the greens were a little dinged up. But overall pace of play was excellent...the driving range and putting green are very close to the first tee and parking lot. Staff was very friendly and treated you like you had played golf before..meaning they didn't marshall over you getting the carts or on the first tee. I've played here many times and each time has been great.

Conditions need improvements.
I've played here for many years, it was my favorite course, but conditions have gone down hill. The fairways had many bare spots and the greens were a bit beat up, and had some weeds here and there. This course just a couple years ago had the best conditions of most any place I played, not sure what happened, but their prices have gone up and condition of course has gone down.
