Glade Valley Golf Club

About
Nestled in the foothills of the Catoctin Mountains about 15 minutes from Fredricksburg, Glade Valley Golf Club has been selected as a top-100 golf course in the Mid-Atlantic region by Washington Golf Monthly. The Jim Reck design, which opened in 1990, has a nice mix of woods, water, natural habitat and sand traps that will test golfers, but the golf course isn't overly difficult.

Started out nice. Then had to leave on 11 due to rain and thunder. GOD Bless to all.
Solid
Never disappoints. The best bang for the buck around.
The temperature was good, a little windy and some of the fairways were a little wet because it had rained the past 5 days.
The fairways were in pretty good condition and the greens were in good condition.
Course and pace could be better.
The course is ok, but by a long shot not my favorite. The rough is way too deep and fairways not that much better to lose a ball in the middle of it due to height of the grass. Was put behind a foursome purposefully to slow me down as a single was agonizingly slow paced. Never again. Not booking unless no other course is available as I could have gotten out and finished reasonably or at a pace that wasn’t disrupted by a seriously slow group of seniors. That and sprinkling was going on while trying it at the first 5 holes. Ridiculous. Mentioned before, but the greens are like they were designed by a madman to be unable to play well on them, added to by stupidly placed pins. Nobody was in front of the seniors, and had I caught up to the tournament on the back 9, I’d have paused. Then doesn’t help some of them were riding around like they were on a tour. Can be better. No way would consider a membership.
Last time we play at Glade
My credit card was charged with tee time cost for all 4 players without my authorization. Nor could the clerk tell me the dollar amount of the charge. My foursome plays at Glade Valley twice monthly. However, I'm not willing to subject my credit card to an unknown expense, nor is anyone of the group willing to book a future T time because of the change in payment method. Therefore, we have decided cease play a Glade Valley.
