Glade Valley Golf Club
About
Nestled in the foothills of the Catoctin Mountains about 15 minutes from Fredricksburg, Glade Valley Golf Club has been selected as a top-100 golf course in the Mid-Atlantic region by Washington Golf Monthly. The Jim Reck design, which opened in 1990, has a nice mix of woods, water, natural habitat and sand traps that will test golfers, but the golf course isn't overly difficult.

Crowded, but it's November!
Course was in great condition. Crowded because the "winter" rate after 11 is $20. Happy to be playing in November ;)
Slow pace ruined the round
I play this course at least 8 or 10 times each year and I like the course a lot. I went off as a single and there were no groups for me to join. The pace of play was awful. Had to quit after ten holes which is a shame as I was having a really good round. There were at least 6 or 7 foursomes ahead of me so I was trapped. I finally gave up after ten holes as it was cold and I wasn’t having much fun. I can’t recall having quit in the middle of a round for a number of years. I like the course but way too crowded on a Tuesday morning in November.
This course is excellent and perfect course to enjoy great golfing around Frederick
I enjoy playing Golf almost everyday it's my home field open layout very stress free to play. Staff is very good and you can't beat the price.
Best Value in Frederick!
I've played this course a handful of times and I love it! I usually play here or Clustered Spires, but this course is nice because it's kind of out of the way and always kept in great shape! I also liked the fact that they honor an Active-Duty military discount which helps me save a few bucks on my rounds. Thanks!

Come play here if you want a low score
This was my first time playing in this course. I drove past the golf course without paying attention to the sign. The lady at the pro shop was very helpful when I called. The starter is super friendly. I agree with most of reviews that this course gives you the best value and scores.
Worth the play
While a bit out of the way, this course is definitely a 'must play' locale. The staff are friendly, and the greens were in great shape. The only detriment I had, was with the pace of play, and waiting on most shots was not fun. Round was about 5 hours long with that.
Friendly staff good condition, first cut of rough was a ball eater, fun day on the course, but a bit bland.
Nice layout, Excellent conditions, a steal at $20
The course is interesting and fair. Some very long holes and some short ones. It was in great condition. I will play it again. It was a bit crowded, but they had had a 1 1/2 hour frost delay.
Great Value for a great course
Glad Valley is one of the best values in the Frederick area. If you haven't golf their you should put it on your list to golf!
Local Jewel
This course is straight forward. Hit the ball straight and you will score well. Great value for a local course.
Some nice features to this course.
Glade Valley has a neat mix of challenging layouts. From "tunnel" shots out of the woods to strategic placement of water hazards, to working around fairway bunkers, etc....
One of my favorite local courses, and a good deal for the money.
Close at 7pm on a Sunday
On September 10th, at 6:57pm, I was on the 16th hole and a staff member drove by to tell us the course closes at 7pm and the cart was due back. I've played here many times before and this never happened until now.
This was after I wasn't able to buy anything at the clubhouse during the turn at around 5pm. Started my round at 3:20pm. They were happy to take my money -- just didn't care enough to stick around, I guess.
It was still clear out and the sunset was 7:30pm, which means it could easily have stayed playable until close to 8pm.
I don't understand. Does the staff not understand that folks like to finish their round? Perhaps they could have tried to speed up the slow groups in front of me to help things along? Maybe they had somewhere better to be? If you work at a golf course -- go ahead and assume people are going to play until dark on a beautiful September day.
We hurried to finish our round -- which contributed to some sloppy play and ruined a good score. The cart got back at 7:15pm and I didn't care if they gave me trouble. Unacceptable behavior for a golf course.
Surprised
Had not played the course in twenty years so it has changed for the better.
Asked to skip a hole
We were paired with a man and woman couple we didn't know. Although they were very nice, their pace of play was very slow. We didn't hear a word about pace of play until the 14th at which time we were asked to skip a hole so the groups behind us wouldn't have to wait. I paid my greens fees just like everyone else and did not ask to be paired with the couple causing the delay why should I be penalized? Not sure I'll ever be back
Great Value in Walkersville
Golfer-friendly course and nice people. Not fancy and carts are a bit dated, but in good condition except for places where your ball shouldn't be anyway. Snack bar is kind of basic. Sometimes can smell fertilizer from surrounding farms. Rates are comparatively low and Golfnow rates can be a steal!!
