An Interesting course
The people in the pro shop were very nice. The course was in good shape. The greens were in great shape and rolled very true. My only real complaint was that in playing the course for the first time, by myself, was that there was no hole design information either at the tees or on the scorecard.
Nice course...be aware of...
You may need to wear a football helmet...played as a foursome and had one party get hit from an incoming shot after it hit the cart path...need to protect the tee boxes better is the only real thought...had 2 other shots not quite reach...else, the course was in great shape...staff just fine...some interesting holes and a few turtle greens...overall, a pleasant Friday...just use the entrance off of RTE 44 and throw GPS in trunk!
Best value
Every time I play it gets better and better! Immaculate golf course with challenging layout, not sure if there is a better deal in a 30 mile radius..
When a private course goes semi-private public players like myself get to experience the benefits of a private course. Tee to green the course is perfect. Lush and green with perfectly mown carpet for fairways. The greens were previously punched and came back like new. No bumps or depressions. . Fast and true with good pin locations to challenge the best players.
I've played this course many times and for someone not familiar there are some blind and layup shots that need to be made. Hopefully you play with someone who will share. Bottom line for $50-60 this is a $100 course and you got a good deal.at a manicured course where the staff cares about the conditions.
Never Disappointed
I have played Segregansett a number of times this year and it never disappoints! The course is always in great condition and the greens are quick and true.
Perfect Course
Segregansett Country Club is a great course, challenging in some respects but just great. The course is in great condition, greens were speedy and running. The entire experience was tremendous. Try it i am sure you will love it.
Nice layout, great greens and fairways
A solid course but it may not be what you're thinking when you hear private course. This course is pretty much a muni in the excellent condition. The amenities are not there but the layout was solid with some weird holes like #2, a par 5 where you either hit your tee shot 170 yards to lay up or you have the carry 250 over the hazard. They do have several tees to fit everyone's game which is nice and the fairways were spectacular plus the greens were lightning fast. We played it off of GolfNow and it was certainly worth the $55 with cart that we played. Beware though, there are a few holes where you'll ask yourself " where the heck does this hole go" off the tee.
Great condition
I play Segregansett once or twice a year. The conditions of the course this past week were the best I have ever seen. All components of the course were in great shape.
Great lay out
Second time playing the course, played in July and after that round, we decided we had to come back. No frills driving range, but works for pre round swings. Fairways are good condition, greens are nice and were at a good speed. Over all the course is WELL maintained and has many different hole layouts . 6300 yards from the white tees, a must play course. Pro shop staff were very friendly and helpful. A hidden gem
Good value
Greens had been aerated about a week before play so the greens were understandably a little bumpy and slow. Would like to play again when greens are smooth and faster. Overall course in good shape. A few blind shots that made play for the first time a little challenging. Played from blue tees which made the longer par fours a real challenge.
Nice course
Played the course a long time ago but I really enjoyed this time ..it had been aerated but still a lot of fun ...played with a couple of great guys that I met there (they just became police officers) it is a great course to play
Course was excellent
No food or cart and wrap around course, but nothing else was lacking
Played during the week and found it a little slow but it was unusually busy.
It is a very nice golf course ,well manicured, decent layout, and would definitely recommend.
A New England Cjassic
Segregansett CC dates back to 1893 when a man named A,H, Findlay laid out the original holes of the course. The course was later modified by Joseph Ohlson. I assume the second nine holes were added by Bill Robinson and the famous Geoffrey Cornish. A credit to all these gentlemen in the creation of one of the finest golf courses I have ever had the pleasure of playing. The tee boxes, fairways, first and second cuts, the landing and collection areas and of course the greens are absolutely beautiful. The greens are very fast with subtle undulations, but they roll true. The bunkers are deep, steep and lipped. Make sure you use enough club to carry these bunkers that guard many of the greens. Hit your approach shots high and soft to get close to the pin placements. Bring your A game and the smoothest, softest putting stroke you have. Segregansett is a must play if you get the chance to play here. The people couldn't have been nicer to me and the course couldn't have been better.
Hard, Fast, But Beautiful
Took advantage of the chance to play this 1893 New England classic golf course. Segregansett is a private golf course that offers guest play at certain times of the day. With a slope rating of 127 from the white tees, it's more than enough golf course for anyone. Tee boxes, fairways, first cut, landing areas, greens, fringe and collection areas are all beautiful. The greens were perfect, but boy were they hard and fast. You need to hit your approach shots high and land them soft and make sure you carry the well guarded greens on this great course. Deep and lipped bunkers guard many hole locations. The staff there couldn't have been nicer to me. I highly recommend you play Segregansett CC any time you get the chance. A most enjoyable and challenging round of golf awaits you at this wonderful place. Bring your best and softest putting stroke with you. Man, were they fast !!!!!!
