Beautiful views! Rough fairways.
This course has beautiful mountain views and a great layout. The holes are challenging to keep a good golfer on your toes. The fairways, however, are so rough they rob you of good shots and long drives. Several chip shots landed exactly where I wanted them but due to the rough, weedy fairway the ball hit a clump of weeds and bounced 90 degrees in the wrong direction! If you get a great deal for 18 holes at a reduced cost, it's worth trying it out. Personally, I wouldn't pay full price for it, you'll just be sorry later that you did.
Great course, No water.
I really enjoyed this course. My only complaint was there were no places to fill my water bottle and when I asked for a faucet they said its not available to the public, but was offered to buy a water if not I would have to fill it in the bathroom. For a place to call itself a resort that was a major drawback. I may return but it is a shame that such a nice course lacks something so trivial.
Poor maintenance
Greens were smooth but fairly slow and that was the highlight. Weeds everywhere and the rough hasn't been cut in a long time. If your ball rolls off of the fairway it is probably lost. Tee boxes had grass an inch and half tall so regular tees weren't long enough for a driver. Several holes didn't even have a blue tee marker. Pace of play was excellent as there was almost no one there. Decent layout and nice staff but the lack of basic maintenance ruins it. Bare bones clubhouse and no driving range. Could be a nice place with proper maintenance.
Great views...
I can see that the new owners have been busy clearing some of the wooded areas and they look great... now attentiin neefs to be given to mowing the roughs....lost balls which were jjust off the fairway..others very hard to find.....fairways need work as well ,grass was sparse.. .greens are excellent.....overall an enjoyable course....staff very friendly and efficent.....our group will definitely return.
beautiful scenery
The most perfect setting and surroundings for a golf course. Deer , wild turkeys , and bears to observe as one plays a lovely round of golf.
Beautiful
A wonderful afternoon experience in beautiful surroundings and the course is in excellent condition.
Needs work
Beautiful property, but poorly maintained. No beer is sold at the course and pro shop had limited merchandise over all. The employee in the pro shop was very nice and seemed to be running the entire course alone. The main problem was that the fairways and rough were not maintained properly. I lost 5 balls that rolled into the first cut that was 6 inches deep. Fairways had lots of weeds which unfortunately will be dead spots next year. The greens were actually very nice, but just off the grass was too tall. Had to roll my ball in most fairways due to the hight of the grass and weeds. I use to like this course even though there is no range to warm up, But i will save my gas next time. We had a good discount rate, but lost 20 dollars worth of pro v's so not worth my time and frustration. Good luck.
Getting better
Constant improvements are being made. The staff, though limited is friendly and takes care of what you need. Rough is thick and tough to play out of so keep the ball in the fairway, greens are looking good and roll fairly.
Wild Laurel is where God would play if He were a golfer
Fairways , greens , overall course conditions were fantastic ! Dollar for dollar , one could not ask for anything better !
Diamond in the rough
This course is a hidden gem. It has been in better condition in the past, but it's still pretty good. One of the most beautiful courses you can play with mountain views, wild deer, and turkey. I will definitely be back.
Wild Laurel Golf Course is a beautiful, challenging course set and the beautiful foothills of the great Smoky Mountains. The course is in excellent playing condition.
Interesting Lay out
This is an excellent layout with a good variety of designed holes. I really enjoy playing this course.
some good some bad
No fairway grass but good greens nats will eat you up behind on mowing in places
Challenging layout, great scenery
The first hole to greet me had trees left and right, and a hill beyond the trees. I had no idea where the fairway went from there. No one was ahead of me.
When I got to the 2nd hole, there was a twosome in front of me. I have no idea how they got there. They let me play through.
Hole # 4 had a twosome appear ahead of me from out of nowhere. They also let me play through.
At # 16, I was suddenly behind two foursomes.
There were wild turkeys in abundance, along with lots of scenic trees which made a loud noise when my ball hit them.
I donated several balls to the woods and rough.
.
NICE COURSE
This was a very nice course with lots of scenery. When we arrived it was foggy so the course was wet but dried out nicely as the day went along. We saw some wild turkeys on the course and was told to watch for bears and snakes but did not get a chance to see any other wild life. The course has a nice layout and is more challenging than it looked.
Nice
We were visiting Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg for the 1st time, this course is about a 45 minute drive. We were there early November, late morning. It was not too crowded, Course and grounds well kept, carts looked new. For $14. a bargain. BEAUTIFUL SCENERY
Hidden gem
Great course off beaten path. Wonderful views in every direction. Fun and challenging layout
Course knowledge needed
The greens were in nice shape, but many of the fairways were thin and hard to get a good lie. There are several holes that are difficult to play because of blind shots. Prior knowledge or playing with someone who knows the course would be a big plus.
