Fun Course

We play most of our golf in the NC Sandhills or in coastal areas. What a fun course. It can beat you up if you’re not ready for the elevation change. We really enjoyed the course. Good condition, really quick bent greens and a fun layout. Everyone there was very friendly. A nice vacation experience.

Played the front 9

We played in early spring, March 31 so a lot of the grass was still dormant. It’s a very challenging course and will be beautiful in the summer.

Fir the love of God speed up play

The course was in good shape considering the time of year. But make sure you have 6-6.5 hours to play. The pace of play was very slow, especially the back side. They need to have rangers on the course to stop people from hitting 2 or 3 balls off the tee. We were 4 deep on many holes and players were still hitting 2 and 3 balls off the tee. I was 4.5 hours in when I left after the 13th hole.

Bogie golf at a bogie course

Pace of play was atrocious, the starter gave a talk about pace yadda yadda but it is not enforced at all. By hole 7 there were 4 groups backed up waiting to tee off. Cart path only because "grass has been recently treated" they said. This should be mentioned at time of booking for a course of this price and layout. The layout is beautiful but the terrible pace ruined the round and I'm not one to complain aboht a 4.5hr round but this was worse.

Wet but fun

Front nine is wide open. Back nine has a lot more target golf and is a much tougher test.

Gatlinburg golf club

this course was in terrible shape. And for what they charge you to play it should at least give you the opportunity to play all the holes. 3 of the greens were completely covered with leaves. The greens were in terrible shape. If you missed the fairway by even 5 yards you were losing your ball in the rough. Leaves everywhere. $80. And the course be in that shape??!! I’d spend the extra $20 and go to sevierville. At least you get to play the whole course. I’d never play that course again. And if anyone asks me I’d tell them not to play it.

Nice course but very slow.

Everything was great up until 4 groups stacked on 10th tee box. Management saying carts in by 5:15p isn’t very good customer service. Maybe they should have been out there monitoring the pace of play. If you allow people to pay for 18 holes then they should be able to try and finish even if it takes until dark. Tourist playing this course want to have a good time and not feel rushed. Other than that, course is in great shape! Has come along way in the past 5-6 years. Always enjoy the track.

Mixed feelings

Interesting course with huge elevation changes. Greens keeper is not doing a good job. To many holes are cart path only ever when the course is very dry. The golf carts are a real pain. They are constantly beeping at you and the gps requires way to much attention. No rangers on the course and pace of play terrible.

Great course, great conditions, but….

Have played here many times and has always been great. This trip up I grabbed a 3:50 tee time for 18 holes. Was teeing off on 15 at 6:40 and received notice on my cart’s yardage screen that the cart had to be back at 7 to the club house. I understand the staff wanting to get out of there as early as possible, but at the very least the clubhouse personnel should inform you of that condition when checking in to tee off. I was dropped off at the course by my family and informed them I would be done close to 8. Needless to say being stuck waiting on a ride isn’t an ideal situation. Pace of play is 4.5 hours and if carts are due back at 7, the course shouldn’t book 18 hole tee times beyond 2:30. Just my opinion…

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda

Clubhouse is spacious and looks like a private club. This is a City owned Public course with two distinctly different nines. Front nine is resort-like and much easier than the back nine which is tighter, more secluded and more scenic. Overall, the layout is fun and scenic with lots of elevation change. To be honest, for a $75 green fee, the greens were substandard at best and unplayable at worst. All greens were punched (aerated) about a month ago and were top dressed with white sand that left each aeration hole slightly below grade causing putted balls to hop and bounce like jumping beans. They have also been attacked by fungus and are crusty and bare around the edges and in many other areas. Pace of play was slow - our round took over five hours to finish. No sign of a marshall - anywhere. No sign of beverage carts - anywhere despite being told they had them. Bottom line: fun course, great views, challenging layout, so-so conditions.

For the money at a resort, expected better greens & fairways

Staff very friendly. Carts good! Not a nice bathroom, and none out on the course, only at the turn. It's a beautiful layout but unless you go regularly, you'll not know where the water, river, or trouble lies. The score card does not accurately show where to layup. But it's a gorgeous area, Mountain View's, a par 3 high on a hill.

Course has been better shape.

Played this course for 35 years as a visitor. Unfortunately many greens are in poor shape due to stress and being wrongly fertilized. It was in worst shape I have ever seen. Course layout is great. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Discounted pricing should be the norm for the course in tough condition with the greens as they were.
