Beautiful views

Great views and greens we're in good shape. Fairways were not in great shape but rain has been scarce this summer. Overall a great and challenging course with amazing views of the smoky mountains.

Interesting course

I have played this course several times and not much has changed. There is some nasty grass around several greens and the fairways can be very hard this time of year. The course is plenty challenging enough for me and I usually shoot around 83 to 85. For the price it is a good deal. If you are staying in Townsend you should definitely play this course.

Great value

I enjoyed the course. Great value for the money.

Pros:

The layout is very interesting with some great views.

The staff is friendly.

Greens are OK but could be a bit better. The are soft and receptive to spin.

Cons:

Tee boxes need to be cut

Course under repair in areas

Gopher on #10 green

No yardage markers on tee boxes on par 3's.

The cons were not major except for the gopher. Had a great time and will be back the next time I'm in Townsend.

Nice Course

This course is tucked next to the Laurel Valley Reserve in the Great Smokey Mountains. The layout highlights the beauty of the area, which is surrounded by mountains and trees. The fairways were OK and the greens were well maintained. Only real negative comment was lack of water on the course. It was 90 degrees and no water in the water stations, plus no refreshment cart. Staff needs to be aware of the safety of players on the course.

Nice course tucked away

I played this course twice in one week. The first time the club house staff was less than pleasant, however the guy working there the second time was much friendlier.

The fairways are in average condition so don't expect a lot of roll. The greens however are in tip top shape and roll extremely quick.

Lots of nice views of the mountains.

The course has its challenges being tucked away in the mountains. Lots of dog legs and up/down hills to work with. I took notes the first time I played about club selection and how the holes played. It took 8 strokes off the next time I played!

No water on the course so take a few bottles with you.

Laurel Valley Restort

The greens were in an excellent shape, the back tee boxes were not cut, but was still somewhat playable. The forward tee boxes were cut to accommodate play. The course design was very interesting and fun. Evaluation changes in the tee boxes / tee shots and hitting into the greens kept your attention. Suggest you bring a GPS to assist in yardages throughout the course. Some blind shots into the greens, but that is expected with a mountain resort layout. My favorite hole was the number 10 par three. The restaurant has been closed for two years along with the bar for an after round beverage. The Pro Shop does have the ability to sell beverages to enjoy from the deck / patio. It was a fun round / afternoon along with the ability to view the mountain scape throughout the course.

Great course and great price

Course is in really good shape, greens are fast. Also staff sent me out on the back nine because of the number of foursomes ahead and me being a single. This allowed me to get to the front nine and finished the whole 18 in about 3 hours.

Laurel Valley

Actual other than a couple of holes very good layout. Beautiful setting between the valley and the mountains with deer and turkey sharing the course.Fairways were rough and needed cutting. Rough areas have been allowed grow up making it difficult to fine your ball. Greens were good. Fun layout but you have control your golf ball. This could be a great course!

greensin good shape,fairways need work.

The 3 of us had 11:00 am got there 30 min. early and they let us right out. At first no one in front of use we played very fast for 4 holes, then we got backed up ended with a 4:30 min round. 4 day before we played in 3:20 they need to have a ranger when they have more play.

Just needs grass

A quirky little course, but I enjoyed the layout. They just need more grass in fairways and rough. Too many dead areas to get 4 stars. The greens were excellent, and bunkers were fine.
