Great conditions great golf course superintendent awesome staff
Great conditions great golf course superintendent awesome staff! Great effort by staff and course maintenance to make it a great experience need to be able to tip the restaurant staff great job by everyone
Excellent course
Great hot deal price. Plenty of tee boxes to choose from. Love playing there.
Love this course
If you don't hit the ball rather straight and long, play the forward tees or you will be losing many golf balls. I love the challenge of the back tees at 7000 yards with some very long par threes and forced carries.Great views on several holes, particularly the back nine. Front nine more forgiving, but the back nine will test your game. Most of the staff is very friendly, particularly for a government owned course.
Early season surprise
Beautiful day and early in season golf but the course was in great condition! Tee and fairway was excellent and the greens rolled fast and true...
Paired
Great course though it’s alway very wet. I don’t golf here much because they insist you pair up with other golfers.
great golf weather
Course was in great condition, especially after the winter we had. Hats off to maintenance crew.
Course = nice, Staff = not so much
Booked tee time as 2 golfers for 18 holes with a cart. When arriving at course, was told a single would be joining us. Our tee time arrived and the single still had not checked in so we were told to tee off. As we were on the 1st green, a ranger came up and dropped off a golfer that was to be our third. The ranger also told us the third golfer would be walking. From greens to tees are not short distances and the walker was not a fast golfer. By hole 7-8-9, the group behind us was waiting on us. When we made the turn, my partner and I drove up to 10, teed off, and were sitting and waiting for our third (walker) to make it to the tee box. At that point a different ranger approached my partner and I and rudely began complaining to us about our pace of play and that we had the whole front 9 backed up and threatened to make us skip holes to get ahead. His attitude towards paying customers was totally disrespectful. This was the first time anybody had talked to us about our pace of play, so his tone and demeanor was totally uncalled for. Also, he should have been talking to the third that was walking (that the course let join our twosome as a walker). This interaction with the ranger totally ruined what should have been a pleasant 2nd half of our round. Several times on the back 9, I had the third golfer jump on and hang onto the back of our cart from green to tee just to stay ahead of the groups behind us. The 1st ranger (that dropped the walker off to us) even stopped us at one point when he saw us doing this and I had to explain why. After the round, I asked to speak to a manager, but none was on duty. I explained what had happened to the attendant in the pro shop, but my complaints fell on deaf ears and no resolution was offered. It shouldn't have been my responsibility to manage the pace of play of the third golfer the course had join us as a walker and couldn't keep up. I was very disappointed in how the course handled the situation.
Course Marshall
Honestly this is a really good course, however the course Marshall clearly is in a role not suited for his disposition. A friend of mine and I booked a T time for this morning through Golf Now, and as sometimes happens, we were paired up with a single walker. Not a big deal, and the gentleman who played with us was a good golfer and a delight to play with. However, he was walking and playing from the blacks which did slow us down significantly. The group behind us caught up with us on the par 3 number 7 hole and waited briefly for us on 7, 8 and 9. At the turn, my friend and I drove up to number 10 and proceeded to T off while we waited for our walker to make the trek over. It was at this point when Kevin (the Marshall) drove up and started laying into us about slow play. Don't get me wrong, I hate slow play as much as the next person (it took us 2 hours and 10 minutes to play the front). It was the demeanor and the horrible attitude displayed that was the most upsetting. I have no problem with you coming up to us and asking us to pick it up, but to come yelling and screaming telling us that he was going to make us skip a hole (among other things) is extremely unprofessional and unnecessary.
66* & Sunny - Perfect
Pierce Lake is a challenging course and in spectacular early-fall condition. Fairways are lush, foliage is thin (so you can find wayward shots).
If you haven't driven to Chelsea in 2017, make sure you don't miss out in 2018. If there are any sunny 55* days between now and season's end, get over there for a great round.
Well maintained
Overcast day and a little misty on the last 2 holes AND I really prefer clear days. However,, it was still an enjoyable day at Pierce Lake Golf course.
Greens were perfect and the fairways were plush and fresh cut. In addition, leaves were blown clear of the fairways and greens. Allthough I was in the sand on 1 hole, even they looked good!
Fun Course
Love it! Always a different challenge on every hole
Poor Starters
Play this course a lot. Love the course. Weekends before 5 you're looking at a 6 hour round. Consistently oor starter/rangers. Send out too many. Group people together against their wishes. Peak times I would say go somewhere else.
Great course for fall
We love coming to this course as it is well maintained and usually pace of play is satisfactory. This time, the course was great but the players in front of us played 2 balls and weren't quick hitters. Despite this, we really appreciate playing in mid-October in Michigan!
Airerated Greens
Great course but was not at all happy with the roll of the ball on the greens. Wish I had known before booking. But it is what it is. Ya gotta do maintenance.
The grounds crew works very hard and when the course greens have healed it will be a great course as it has been the last 4 or 5 years.
Pierce Lake
First time playing this course. Fortunately we were paired with another Golfnow user who gave the layout of the holes as we played. Great mixture of long/short, easy/hard holes. Will definitely be returning to play here again.
Pierce Lake
This is one of my favorite courses, I have not played here in two years and I was amazed at the condition of the course, greens were perfect, fairways were perfect, tees were in good shape. It was an outstanding day.
Golfing with son
The weather was great and the course was in great shape except for the greens. The greens were really soft and many people hit into the green but did not do a very good job of fixing their divots. The greens could be a little faster. I was surprised at the slow pace of play in the back nine. Usually the marshal speeds you along but did not see one Saturday. Other than that I had a great time with my son and played a great course for a really great price
Well expect it. When it's busy they will pair you up
