15th green, one of the few that wasn’t all patchy on the edges and gives you a nice scenery of those pine trees. Photo submitted by BuffaloBen15 on 10/26/2020
Front vs. Back
Course conditions were just okay. Greens were somewhat slow and the sand traps need attention. Pace of play was great on the front (1 1/2 hours) however, the back nine we hit a wall. It took 2 1/2 hours. Followed threesomes that thought they were in a longest drive contest and didn't tee off until the group in front of them were on the green. When they finally did tee off their balls went about 150 yards.
I think I'm done with this course for the rest of the year.
Great course beautiful
Very busy on Sunday but a beautiful course was unsure of green location on number 2. It's a little deciding because 3s hole is right in front of you. Very friendly staff
Fun to get out at a reasonable price, Good staff place was packed they tried to speed play along.
Love Fern Hill
The pace is great and the staff is also. I left my Odyssey putter there and went back a few days later and it was there, thank you to whoever returned it and thank you to Fern Hill.
The greens are in great shape and this is a course I love to play during the weekdays.
I will be playing there frequently from now on!
Fernhill
the course is nothing special ... I like to work on my game at this course
First Timer - I Will Return
I finally got around to playing Fern Hill GC. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. Greens were in great shape. Some very tight, challenging holes. Some of the ravines and creeks were a bit unexpected so you need some course knowledge. I had fun out there and look forward to returning soon for a rematch.
Nothing Special
Front nine was in decent shape, back nine wasn't. Tee boxes were almost non-existent.
Snails Pace
Course conditions are improving but the youngsters in the pro shop are glorified check-out clerks and it causes a nightmare on the course. Too many singles, 2somes, or 5somes!! I've been there 3x and EVERY time this has been the case.
SLOW!!
Pace of play ,there is no pace! It's around the block from my house & I will not be going back this year. The guys in the pro shop are great. Course is in good shape. SLOW!
Affordable golf
Course has improved over the years, green speeds average for an east side course with an under 4 hour round. Will be back!
Okay Course
The course is worth playing if you don't mind the bad smell around three of the holes. There is a building near those holes that my guess is what the smell is coming from.
Extremely Improved
I grew up playing this course and it used to be a joke. Within the past few years the owners have taken steps to continuously improve the course. Although some of the tee boxes need improvement you can tell they are taking baby steps to do so with some rocks being input around them for scenery as well as revamped tee boxes all around with less divots or dirt in the box itself. The fairways were quite nice as opposed to years ago when you couldn't really tell if you were on the fairway or not (they are well cut and the grass is green now). The greens were still a challenge as it has been dry making them quite firm and fast. The restaurant always has good food and the price for this course makes it easy to want to come back and play again unlike prior years. Pace of play was great even though we didn't see a ranger. I hope the owners continue to make improvements to the course because they are doing a great job!
Very female-friendly course!
The course played well - a little on the easy side, but a few holes with tight fairways offered challenges, especially to slicers like me. I wouldn't have believed that some courses are NOT female-friendly, but having played in an outing at The Links of Novi the following day, I can attest it is indeed a real thing. The staff at Fern Hill were fabulous, the course was in great condition & everyone we encountered on course was having a great time. Will definitely make this a regular playing spot!
Solid course
Pace of play was ok , didn't have any issues with that really considering it was memorial weekend. The course itself is fun to play , the front nine is nothing to write home about . I do however have fun on the back nine. The cart girl was all over (in a good way) . Will play again so long as I can get a deal on GolfNow.
Course has been improved since last time played.
Have played this course many times before. Mgt. has done a lot to improve the course. Only played there for something to do on a Sun. afternoon. My wife had a baby shower to go too. The golf now price was great & the course was close by. We will probably start playing this course more often.
