Would not recommend

I am just an average golfer- normally shooting around 90 on an average course. Several holes on this course were unreasonably difficult for the average golfer. Lost 4 or 5 balls on the round. But the worst thing about this course was that you do not make the turn near the club house, which in itself is not a problem, but they sell 9 hole rounds that have people jumping from hole #4 to hole #14 IN FRONT of the 18 hole players which stacked up the players at hole 14. Who does that?? Will not be back.

$100 per round?

Not a $100 per round course but still fun. Guess that may be going rate in this area. Look for deals. Got mine for $70. Unique layout.

it was a rough winter and ice storm

Dunmaglas did not escape the ice storm. Many trees and branches down at edges of rough. The greens and traps were in pretty bad shape (but some greens were excellent). Course remains one of the most beautiful in No Michigan and it is quite playable though a challenge. Hopefully with more warm weather (it was a very late spring) the branches can be further cleared and greens can recover.

Memorable Golf Course

This course is quite an experience. It has the best views I’ve ever seen on a golf course. It is an absolute massive property. What is not golf course is pretty much undeveloped land. You will see two lakes simultaneously from 200 feet above ground level, you will see pastures, you will see what are essentially mountains, It is stunning. On several holes it is almost difficult to focus on golf shots.

But you will need to, because it is one of the most difficult golf courses I’ve ever played. If you are looking for a course that confirms how good you are, don’t play here. Unless you are close to a scratch golfer you are shooting 90+. Every single shot is a challenge. The greens are protected like you would not believe. And, apparently this is the “easy” version, because they took out a lot of hazard areas about 10 years ago.

The conditions are not the greatest, but they are not terrible, and if you are playing it for the experience you really won’t care. The fairways are fine, greens are great except for two spots on two greens that are over shaded and cannot grow..

Owners/workers are really friendly. Carts are fine. Pace was good. It is a 5 hour round but because of how demanding the course is, not because of overcrowding or bad pace. Don’t worry, you won’t want to leave anyway. 5 stars.

Love it

Great course with fantastic views and great lay out. Not for soy boys. I live I Florida and come north to play golf June thru October in beautifull northern Michigan. Played the course often 3 years ago and loved it but because of no players the course was having issued. Animals were tearing up the fairways looking for grubs. Did not play it in 2023 figuring it was not in good condition. Forward to 2024 went back to play it and was pleasantly suprised just as beautifull as ever but back to being in good shape. The group who own Manistee CC and others have done a great job. Even the greens were supperb. The layout of this course is easily one of my favorites in Petoskey area at a fair price. Conditions of facilities and golf carts leave alot to be desired but I love this layout. Slow play never a issue

Same old Dumaglas

1st Time playing 2018, had played dozens of times before. The course has really gone. Many greens were an awful shape, tee boxes were deplorable, and there were several bunkers that were unplayable. using the same carts from 30 years ago, no amenities whatsoever, and going into the pro shop felt like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Charging more than $30-40 for 18 is excessive. Alas poor Dumaglas, you were once a great course

Golfer’s Beware

This course had some scenic views and a nice layout but it has been let go and some of the bunkers were full of weeds and the golf carts are very old. Their green fee rate of $99 is way over priced. If you get a lower price from GolfNow then it is worth playing. It’s unfortunate that they have let this course run down.

Value for $$$

Charge top dollar for green fees but provide carts and facilities that have not been updated since 1990. Golf cards run ok but no front screen, torn seats and technology.

Clubhouse smells like a house that had mildew and never treated. Owner not known favorable by community.

A hidden gem

A gorgeous course that needs financial assistance. Don't come here if you expect 5 star clubhouse and amenities. After your round stay a while to learn of the fascinating history of the course from the gregarious and warm PGA pro and agrarian superintendent Paolo from Brazil. Thank you Paolo for a memorable day. I hope Dunmaglas continues to shine.

Golfing at Dunmaglas

I arrived aboutan hour before my 8:40 am tee time to warm-up on the range and putt on the putting green. When I checked in at the Pro Shop, I asked to buy some balls to hit on the range. I was told by the fellow behind the counter that they didn't have any range balls, but I could pick some up that were laying on the range. I must admit that I have never been told that before. So ... I went to the range and spent 10 minutes or so scrounging up some balls to hit. I should also point out that the range looked like it hadn't been mown in a couple of weeks as the weeds were a foot tall or so! Needless to say we weren't off to a good start. The course itself was quite de.a demanding requiring precisely placed shots with your drives and approach shots. The course plays relatively tight and there are several blind shots to tucked pins. The greens were in excellent condition. However, the bunkers weren't tsked in a couple of weeks and were hard with not mu h sand in them. The property the course is located on is phenominal. Unfortunately, for the money we paid to play, it just didn't match up to the overall poorly maintained conditions. In good conscious I can't recommend anyone play there as there are many better courses to play in the northern michigan area.

Awesomeness, love the link style!

Other than a few blind shots and a couple of spotted greens, I love this place. Serious Up-North golf!

Can't wait to go back.

My Favorite Course

It’s not the cheapest. There are no amenities. It’s not wildly challenging. But gosh darn it, it’s so beautiful and so laid back at the same time. The course is always in pristine condition. The pace is always terrific. The carts are gas-powered, which makes things extra fun. Just pack a cooler, and have yourself a riot of an afternoon. I love this course.

Overlooked Gem

Tough but fair course. Course was in really good condition except for a few tee boxes. Greens were fast but held shots. Pro shop doesn't open until 8am, plan for this if you want to hit the range before tee time.
