Sugar Creek Golf Course

About
Sugar Creek Golf Course offers some of the best scenery of any course in the St. Louis area. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the course's elevated tees. The course opened in 1990 with several improvements made in the following years. The layout is a manageable length at just under 6,100 yards. It is player-friendly enough for beginners to approach with confidence but there are also challenges in store for more advanced players. Water only comes into play on one hole but there are stands of trees lining the narrow fairways. The golf course will generously reward accuracy and good strategy though it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. In addition to the course, Sugar Creek G.C. also boasts an expansive practice range with 35 hitting stations.

Not great conditions
Don’t know who is rating Sugar Creek four and five stars but that ain’t it. I truly want/wish the course was better as it is a fun layout to play. The fact it is $45 on weekdays and $55 on weekends is crazy as it is nowhere near that price point for the conditions.
The greens were in adequate shape given how hot and dry it has been. However, there were so many deep and unrepaired ball marks, and that doesn’t help. The tee boxes were poor and not level. The fairways were equally bad while the rough was in horrible shape. Just don’t head there expecting super nice conditions.
Great Course
Course was being maintained while going on and met the owner who was also really friendly and a great guy to talk to. Course has made a huge comeback the last couple of years and is just a great time.
Sugar Creek
About half of the tea boxes are basically dirt but it’s understandable because they’re fairly small and not much room to move the tee markers around. the fairways are in fantastic shape and the rough is extremely playable. Very few bare spots and not too tall to find your ball The greens were basically perfect. I don’t remember seeing a blemish on any of them. If there was, it was certainly nowhere near the pins. I’ve seen this course in really bad shape in the past and was hesitant about going and playing it it’s going into our regular rotation at this point we had a great time. and will definitely be back.
Worst course for what they charge.
I can’t believe people actually pay $55 to play this piece of crap. If you like to play on a course in which you can’t hit out any of their bunkers, putt on fairway like greens, that have 30 divots, from all the white trash people that play out there, no one has any golf etiquette that plays there. Possibly the worst course for what they charge.
Not a $55 Course
I've been playing this course for a long time. It seems like every year there is something else that needs repair. This year it's the tee boxes and cart paths. No grass in the tee boxes and the paths are falling apart!
Greens are long and slow. Most fairways are in good shape.
May 29th
Great course for the dollar amount. Fun layout and challenging holes throughout the entire course. However, dont make any other plans for the day if you want to play here. Took over 5 hours to play. No Marshall to keep pace of play slightly reasonable.
Great staff
Loved the staff. Has done creative holes. Round took 4 hours and 15 mins. Partly because of paths only but the foursome ahead definitely slow played.
Fun course with unique par 3s
Great course! Only complaint is the repairs being done on the edge of greens, but I’m sure they’ll be perfect next time out.
Long wait
Shouldn't have to wait 1/2 hour for a hamburger at the turn. Besides that, we still come back year after year.
Long wait
Waiting a half hour for a hamburger is ridiculous. Besides that, we keep on coming back every year.
Wait a little longer to play here
The fairways looked pretty decent but tee boxes were terrible and all par 3’s were at the same spot about 90 yards. Car paths need some TLC as well. This course has some potential and I will give it another chance later this year.
