About
Sugar Creek Golf Course offers some of the best scenery of any course in the St. Louis area. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the course's elevated tees. The course opened in 1990 with several improvements made in the following years. The layout is a manageable length at just under 6,100 yards. It is player-friendly enough for beginners to approach with confidence but there are also challenges in store for more advanced players. Water only comes into play on one hole but there are stands of trees lining the narrow fairways. The golf course will generously reward accuracy and good strategy though it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. In addition to the course, Sugar Creek G.C. also boasts an expansive practice range with 35 hitting stations.

Great first time at Sugar Creek
Solid course and pace of play was tough on a busy day but the greens were in solid shape and I only had to drop balls 3 times

A lot of unrealized potential
Three stand-outs:
Pace of play was slowest I have ever encountered - nearly 5.5 hours to finish on a Sunday afternoon.
Multiple times 2 groups waiting on tees.
Second, the the tee boxes were the worst I have encountered on any course (public of private). No grass and hard as concrete. Gave up trying to put a tee peg in several times.
Third - the cart paths are in dire need of repair apart from only a few places where asphalt has recently been replaced. A bone-shaking ride.
It’s a shame because the course is pretty and a good challenge (tight/blind fairway shots). Has a lot of potential. The staff were also very friendly.

Greens are like shag carpet
Can’t get myself to hit a put hard enough. I get trying to protect the greens, but for f sake cut them once in a while. Makes playing miserable especially for a 5+ hour round.

Great Course
This could be one of the best courses for the price in the STL area. A few tee boxes are chewed up but greens and fairways are perfect. Worth every penny to play here!

Absolutely Wonderful!!
We hosted an afternoon party in the clubhouse. Everything was absolutely perfect! The setting is gorgeous & the staff could not have been any nicer!

Vastly Improved!
Played this course two years ago just as it went under new management. The commitment to improvement is clearly evident. In a couple more years this could be one of the hidden gems in the area. The layout reminds me of courses at the lake of the Ozarks though narrower and shorter. I don’t like the par 3 uphill hole - too gimmicky. Otherwise I found the holes mostly memorable which to me is a key to a nice layout.

Okay for the money
The bathrooms on the course were kinda gross, and lots of geese with their poop on the course. It is early in the season, but the ground was particularly wet and patchy. A lot of "ground under going work" signs around patchy spots.

What a difference
It's amazing what new ownership and some fantastic groundskeepers can do to turn a course around. I used to golf this course years ago and quit playing here because it was just in terrible shape. Now the fairways and greens are looking outstanding and should prove to be one of the best looking courses to play this summer.
