Sugar Creek Golf Course
About
Sugar Creek Golf Course offers some of the best scenery of any course in the St. Louis area. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the course's elevated tees. The course opened in 1990 with several improvements made in the following years. The layout is a manageable length at just under 6,100 yards. It is player-friendly enough for beginners to approach with confidence but there are also challenges in store for more advanced players. Water only comes into play on one hole but there are stands of trees lining the narrow fairways. The golf course will generously reward accuracy and good strategy though it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. In addition to the course, Sugar Creek G.C. also boasts an expansive practice range with 35 hitting stations.

Great prices
My biggest complaint are the tee boxes most are in awful shape and you can't expect a smooth putt on most of the greens. But I've played here quite a bit and like the layout and elevation of some holes
Golf on the Cheap
If your looking to get out and play a cheap round of golf, then Sugar Creek is a good course. $19 bucks to pay 18. Not Bad!!!
I play the course maybe 1 or 2 times per year and it has never been in great condition. The greens were pretty bumpy and some of the fairways were in pretty bad shape. That being said, we have not had much rain as of late.
If your looking for country club golf.... Do not play Sugar Creek.
Glad I come back
Haven't played in years, and thought it would close,, but it's much better than when I last played. Very challenging with small landing areas so don't get carried away. I will definitely come back. I give the grounds crew kudos for making the course very nice. It used to be very rocky. Now, the Bermuda & zoyia has grown in & it's in great shape.
Well kept Course
This course is in great shape,. I was impressed with how green the fairways and the greens were with the lack of rain we have . I will definitely play here again soon, this course is very doable for the beginner golfer. The price was great as well. Thanks Golfnow.com
sugar creek review
Course was overbooked. Slow play throughout the round. Had to skip 6 holes do to very slow play and poor golf marshall interaction with the slow players.
Apparently members of the club can do whatever they want, including 5 golf carts/9 players teeing off on the same hole every hole. Wont be back.
A fun course
Some narrow fairways made it a little challenging for my son who has only played for the last year. We definitely spent more in golf balls than green fees. But we had a great time and finished 18 in just under 4 hours. Staff, as well as those out golfing, were all very pleasant and helpful. We will be back; just loaded with a few extra balls :)
Outstanding.
Great round. The course was in excellent shape. Beautiful!
Not bad
Overall the course has its good spots and bad spots, but is a challenging and fun course to play, not to many flat holes so always a new challenge.
It's looking up
I played here before and it was terrible. It's a little nicer now, but the course needs a lot of work. Dusty tee boxes and really rough greens. I could see that they're trying to spruce it up. I'll go back in hopes it gets better.
Overbooked
According to them everyone was on schedule, and yet there were 13 carts backed up in the first tee. Way overbooked due to greedy management. Extremely slow pace of play ruined an otherwise good course.
Many good improvements
The new ownership has made lots of improvements in the last year. The greens are in better shape than they have been in the last two years.
Very improved
I have played here a few times a year for the last couple of years, and I think there has been a change in ownership. This year you can tell a difference from the club house to the greens. I will be playing here more often now.
Course is looking better and better
Things are starting to look good. Still in the process of fixing some bad areas but we have made some headway with improving course conditions. Some members have said the course is the best in over 20 years.
Great Value
Great course for the price. Had some longer drives in between holes and greens were a bit choppy in some holes. But overall a very fun course. Staff very friendly and nice facilities
Sugar creek
Course shows wear. Tee boxes not mowed. Cart paths badly need repair. Back nine plays better than front.
Fairways Was Like Playing on Dirt & Back Greens Aerated
Didn't know the course was just aerated when I booked. Fairways (zoysia) was like playing off dirt. Counter person didn't inform me we had to make the turn before a ladies league started on the back 9. It was just expected my other player & I skip a hole. I paid my money too & didn't feel it was handled right. Can't recommend right now in shape course is in.
New Course Superintendent
I am the new Golf Course Superintendent. Its been 2 months on the job and things are starting to improve. I agree with a lot of the reviews that the course was in horrible conditions. That's why I'm here. Its going to take a lot of work and time but improvements are bring made daily.
Aeration is complete, recovery has started but there is still a long way to go. I strive for success and will provide a golf course that you will want to play.
Those of you that said you will never play here again I'm asking you to give it 1 more shot. Currently greens are slow with raised heights to allow for seed germination. Give me 30 days and come back and play. Then write a review and let me know what you think. I bet your thoughts will change.
Beau vert
Compte tenu que c'était le début de la saison, les conditions étaient bonnes
This course is very scenic
Fun course that is challenging. Once things turn green it will be even better.
Greens need a little work, but have improved a lot since mid March
I have resigned and am no longer at Sugar Creek.
