Slooooooow day
Course was not in great shape - half of the greens had major issues, not to mention how rock hard they were (a little water never hurts). Pace of play was horrendous - every hole had 2 or more groups at the tee box, with nothing but 2 or 3somes on the course. It wouldn't hurt to have a ranger go tell the group of 2 dopes that being 3 holes behind the group in front of you is bad. the 2 people I joined up ended up going to Marsh Oaks hole #2 after Old Oaks #11, just to make sure we got 18 holes of some kind in.
That being said, the staff working was pleasant and friendly...guess I shouldn't expect too much for $35 at 3:30 on a Saturday <shrug>
Horrible course conditions
Greens were destroyed. Couldn’t make a good putt from anywhere on some of the greens. There we piles of dirt around the fairways. I’ve been golfing here for the last 5 years and it seems as they charge a lot of money for terrible conditions without ever trying to improve the course.
There has been 17 days without rain and was in pretty good shape. Tee boxes were hard, greens were ok.
Management is putting effort in to improving the golf course. Bunkers are getting cleaned up. Fairways were mostly good. Greens were 70/30 with some still badly damaged. Overall fun day with my son. Not overbooked for a change.
Waste of money
This course has the audacity to charge 60+ for 18 to play a course that doesn't regularly cute the grass, tee boxes are bricks, half the greens are almost unplayable I only will ever play this course if I get hot deals on it for super cheap. Also there is no turn at the club house, cart girl came to us on the 3rd hole only had 1 beer I asked if she could bring more she said no problem never seen her again until we're approaching the 18th green......
Old Course Needs Love Too!!!
80% of time and effort are put into “The Marsh” Greens on the “Old Course” definitely need some Love!! Overall a good experience with a few ground under repair drops..
Poor Course Conditions
I’ve played this course a couple of times maybe 6-7 years ago. Went back to play again and I don’t think I will be back. The course conditions are very, very poor. Half of the greens were half dead, dry patches all over the “fairways.” Paid $40 on a Sunday afternoon and I don’t think I would’ve paid $20. It is a shame because the course has great potential and a great layout.
Marsh Oaks is in sad shape
Used to be a great course. You can tell the ownership is not putting enough money back into it. Tee boxes, greens, rough were in bad shape. They haven’t mowed around the greens at all recently. It’s not the US Open for gosh sakes. May of the greens had some disease eating them up. Great layout, poor upkeep and conditions. Probably why it was the lowest Sunday fee on Golf Now.
Overpriced with Awful greens and terrible course conditions
Every single green has massive holes in them and the roughy is way too long, 100% not worth the price you are better off going to Michigan meadows for way cheaper
Like a box of chocolates,,,
I play here several times each season. always mid-week. Often it's uncrowded, but when it's slow, it's very slow. As for the course, there are big improvements on ## 7 and 10, which in past years were largely very wet and muddy. The greens overall were very slow, but it was a tough April. I'm hoping they get some decent grass-growing weather, as in past years their water sources were interfered with by construction projects east of I-94. The staff is friendly. The course is a nice design, with some variety. There are 5 par three's for a 71 par,.
Better than last year
It is obvious they are trying to improve the conditions of the Marsh Course. It was very enjoyable.
Poor Value
This was once a great course and good value. Course in need of proper maintenance.
I’ve heard bad things about this course and it wasn’t as bad as I thought, but the course conditions were pretty terrible. I only played here cause of a hot deal and a coupon.
Grounds need care
Lose your ball in the grass all over the place and the greens are patchy. Needs some TLC.
Not Maintained
I played this course a couple years ago. While it wasn’t in pristine condition then, it was a PGA level course compared to what it is now. Most of the course including tee boxes and greens looked like they hadn’t been mowed in over a week. The rough was very overgrown and may not have been mowed yet this year. All the sand traps have been left to go back to nature. Most had grass growing in them and the ones that didn’t haven’t been raked in some time. They resembled ignored cat litter boxes more than golf course bunkers. Almost all the greens had significant damage, dead spots and ant hills. This is the worst course conditions I’ve ever played on. If I had payed full price, I would have left after 9 holes and asked for a refund.
You must be a friend of the owner. The course is almost unplayable
