Course was in poor condition
Pretty sure they have a major grub problem, greens were all chewed same with fairways. Tee boxes were in good condition. Pace of play was horrible waited 20 minutes past tee time just for a cart( they were out of carts and washing them as other golfers were finishing.) Staff was friendly prices were good on a hot deal definitely not worth more then 18 dollars. Weekend expect plus 4 hr round. Weekdays you can play a fast time possibly
Terrible shape!
They have let this course go to waste. The fairways are cracked clay and have little to no grass left at all. Paid $43 on a weekend to play the worst course conditions we have ever seen.
Poor choice
This course was on very poor condition. I’ve never seen a fairway that was cracked cracked cause it was so dry. It is 100% obvious they put there money and time into marsh oaks.
Old Oaks
Absolutely horrible condition with the exception of the greens...
Old Oaks
I would not recommend this course at this time....there is NO grass in the fairways and the ground is cracking due to a lack of water.
Dry
The over course was ok a lot of ponds we’re almost completely dry. Tee box’s in need of big help could not even get a tee in the ground. Thought 30 dollars on a hot deal was rather pricey for the current course conditions.
Neglected
Could be a very nice course... if they didn't neglect it. Poor fairways, tee boxes, rough. Greens were good.
5 STARS Best course around
by far my favorite place to play. Very friendly staff, I took my son with me and they made him feel so comfortable and he told me that it was so far his best experience golfing. The staff is what made it great for us other than an awsome course to play on. Definitely going to be playing there alot
Course Destroyed
They have a water issue. They can not water any of the course. It is destroyed. I have never seen sod have cracks in it before. The fairways are so bad you sometimes had to move your ball 10' just to get on a 1" piece of grass. Tee boxes are just as bad. Hard to put a tee in the ground. I realize that this mishap is not the cause of the owners but they sure should have told the golfers before they made their reservations. They are also now charging $10.00 for a second cart where before riding separate was a safety for Covid19. Very troubling that they keep this info from the golfer until they show up.
Hope they win the law suit
It is a shame that the building being erected across the expressway tapped into this golf courses water and has taken almost all of it. The "Old Oaks" is in horrible shape because of the no water situation. LAW SUIT!!!
Eight weeks ago the course was in good shape. We will come back and support the owners though.
Save your money
Please, and i cannot express this enough, for the the love of god save your money and don’t golf this course. This is easily the worst course I have ever played in the metro Detroit area and frankly isn’t even close. Their fairways don’t even exist.
They should be paying me $43 to play their course instead do the other way around. Absolute highway robbery.
The greens are at least in good enough condition but the rest of the course? Yikes. The fairways are cracked in multiple spots where the DIRT (not grass) is not connected to the ground. The tee boxes are clearly not moved or treated. Just hit wherever there’s actually grass on the Par 3s
Never again. I don’t care if Marsh Oaks is in better condition the fact that they even allow people to spend money at Old Oaks is the reason I will never even give Marsh Oaks a try. They don’t deserve my money.
Terrible Course. Terrible Value.
Having played the Old Oaks course a few years ago and enjoying it, I figured we'd give Marsh Oaks a try, which was supposed to be Oak Ridge's tougher and overall superior links course.
Long story short, this course is one of the worst in Michigan and the condition is embarrassing. Uncut and overgrown tee boxes, burned out and horribly damaged fairways, massive potholes in the the parking lot and the cart paths throughout the course. Golf carts that are never wiped down or cleaned that are sticky and reek of spilled beer. Bad greens with certain areas that are cracked from being so dry. Areas in the middle of fairways where the grass is burnt out right next to another area where there is standing water in a muddy swamp. Very bizarre course that is horribly maintained. Parts of the Marsh Oaks border the Old Oaks and the Old Oaks is in even worse shape. The entire course is brown and the fairways have hardly any grass on them. Embarrassing condition.
Nowhere near worth $57.00. $14.00 would be more appropriate. The people who run this course ought to be lambasted for charging these rates for such a terrible product. If my front yard grass looked like their fairways, I'd probably be contacted by the blight removal program.
In Michigan during the summer we have ideal conditions to maintain a beautiful green golf course with appropriate drainage, watering, and maintenance. There is no excuse for how Oak Ridge is. To charge nearly $60.00 for a round of golf on a municipal track is a ballsy move to begin with, but you'd expect the course to be fantastic with an emphasis on the course conditions. Rather it was embarrassing. There are courses very close geographically to this one that are half the price and three times as good. Avoid Oak Ridge unless you want to be terribly disappointed and leave feeling ripped off.
