Another Great Michigan Golf Course
Played 9 holes with my daughter, very scenic course. Did not see any drinking water on course and no beverage service was offered on course.
Don't get fooled by the name.
Ahh Whispering Pines, sounds like a nice, rolling hills layout through woods and a fun day on the course, a stroll through the park, not! This is a very challenging course, the yardage doesn't seem like it's 6500 yards from the back but it is a long 6500 yards and the white tees are the same way. It is a great lay out and the greens and fairways were excellent, the tee boxes were raggedy in spots but most were nice. Just be prepared to play undulating fairways with tough lies and hitting up to landing areas. Side hill lies and tricky greens. Will play again and be better prepared. I recommend this course.
Course was in great shape, but 5.5 hours and didn't finish
The course itself was in great shape, the tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all looking good. My poor rating though comes from the fact that this course was way overbooked, there was a 6 cart wait on the first tee, which then continued for each hole on the front nine. The back was somewhat better as we were able to skip a few of the groups in front of us who went in the clubhouse at the turn, however we still had long waits as the back nine was playing slow as well. The icing on the cake (and what caused us to just quit) was the 8 cart wait on the 18th hole, and the reason for the wait was there was a wedding going on on the 1st tee box and they wouldn't let anyone play the 18th! I have never in my 20 years of golf experienced something like that, and for them to not even tell anyone that this would be going on when we checked in is utterly unacceptable. Both my playing partner and I vowed it will be a very long time, if at all, before we play at Whispering Pines again.
Sunny Day
I thought the course was in great shape. Greens where not too fast, the rough was fair. Pace of play was great until 16th hole. One employee cutting tee boxes was under the impression that we should wait for him to do his job for 6 holes. Friendly patrons. All around good experience.
course layout ridiculous
not a fan when the only greens you can see are on the par 3s. too many blund tee shots.. too many sidehill lies from middle of fairway. roo many trees. should have left tuus as a forest because it fails as a golf course.
Challenging course
Some beautiful "Up North" type of holes.I really like the look and layout of this course.
Nice course, excellent value!
This is my second time playing Whispering pines. The course is in great shape and an incredible value at $20 for 18 holes with a cart. There is a nice combination of very challenging and moderately challenging holes.
Good Course For The $$$
Living in the area I've been wanting to play this course for some time. The card says it plays 6,372 from the blues which is pretty accurate. I played as a single which is why the pace was a bit slower, but the weather was perfect so I didn't mind. The course was in good shape, just some golfers who don't know how to fix their ball marks on the green. I would say this is a perfect tune-up if you're going up north, especially the back 9. I could & will play there again.
Splendid
Splendid day golfing with friends at this course. Nice views and well groomed fairways and greens. Maybe a little challenging for beginners.
It's been years
I don't know why we haven't played here in years but we will be back soon. The course was in great shape and the pace of play excellent. We had to let a twosome go by just so we could enjoy the day. I run a golf league and I just might set up our outing here.
Don't overlook this course.
The yardage says the course is short but plays much longer. Very strategic tight golf course. Definitely not for someone who sprays the ball everywhere. If you do bring a lot of golf balls. The scenery of this deep wooded golf course is fantastic.
Great round
Course was in very good condition, greens a little slower that most. Very beautiful course. Best place for the money I placed this season.
Nice Course!
Relatively short but very nice course. Staffs are very friendly and nice. I'll play again when I have another business trip to Detroit area.
Greens in terrible shape
great course design, but greens were in bad shape. Some spots had sitting water. Overall wouldn't repeat unless greens got better.
Difficult track for weekend golfers
Front nine moderate in difficulty, enjoyable in scenery and condition then the back nine bites you, with severe up,down and side hill lies not to mention the swamp and water carries. Have fun. Wonderful clubhouse, food and staff.
