Beautiful course that's extremely challenging.
I was surprised that such a course that offers such diverse challenges could be tucked away in a residential setting. It is well-maintained and difficult but manageable. Power will not be a successful approach. Precise course management and shot planning will provide the best opportunity for success. It helps to be well-practiced with all of your irons and putting is a skill to be mastered. Hit it straight and with accuracy because most holes are not forgiving.
Very Challenging Course
Drove about an hour just to get to the course, but it was well worth it.
tough sledding
The extra rain this year really tightened up the driving area. I dont remember there being so little room on the right and left sides of the fairway, It was a fair test nonetheless.
Awesome course, just like up North
This has to be one of the most beautiful courses that I have ever golfed on. Pristine, absolutely beautiful, will come back in a heartbeat. Excellent money value, my husband and I really enjoyed it.
Very nice, challenging course.
Beautiful course. Only downside is that there are homes lining nearly every fairway.
So so course
The course wasnt worth the money in my opinion. The club house staff was really nice but it took a while to get things rolling due to the big outing they had going on. The cart we got had broken plastic which suggests that they don't put the money back into the equipment. When we hit the turn the ranger told us we were playing " to slow and if this were a busier day he would ask us to leave". I thought that was rude. I've played many courses throuought the surrounding counties here in Livingston, Washtenaw, Ingham, and SW Oakland. Never once have I been told that. Not even when I played at Oak point with a friend. I won't go back solely because of that. It ruined the day for my party of four. We go to play golf and relax. Not to be rushed through the holes because they are more concerned with the outing they booked.
Goes on My Favorite List
Wife and I played Whispering Pines for the 1st time and really really enjoyed it. We both love courses with trees and Whispering Pines has lots of those. We will definitely be back. Course was in good shape. Greens weren't as fast as Dunham Hlls but were very fair and challenging. Really enjoyed the variety of holes. I like the fact that on a couple of the shorter par 4s you need to leave the driver in the bag. Note for the ladies - Blind tee shot - Wife hit good drive on 12th (I think) only to find she reached the pond that isn't visible from tee and cuts across entire fairway. Only draw back was the pace of play, a bit too slow but definitely not enough to keep us away.
Get there early and putt!
Nice course. Does have that "up north" feel that all Michigan golfers talk about. Tough first time out as there are some blind shots and tight ob with houses close. The greens were great but tough to get a read on. If you downhill and with the grain, just breathe on it, and its gone. Got there late, so didn't really putt before. All in all, nice track, not too deep from the tips. Would play again. Likely more fun the second time as you'd have an idea
Short, but Demanding Target Golf
While not very long on the scorecard, the difficulty of this course comes from the incredibly narrow holes and uneven lies. This course demands VERY straight, VERY accurate tee shots, otherwise you'll be deep in the woods and swamps all day. I've found the course is much more playable if I leave my driver in the trunk -- many holes require an iron off the tee. The course is pretty and well maintained, but it's extremely tight with no bailout areas. This could easily be an above-average course if they removed some trees and thinned the undergrowth. Bring bug spray.
Good value
Nicer and cheaper than other courses around. Nice mix of elevation change and scenery.
Beautiful setting and fun to play.
The course and greens are always in great condition. Rolling hills with a lot of beautiful pines. Very nice setting makes you feel like your are playing up north Michigan. Very good staff and allows me and my son to play only as a twosome.
Fun day golfing
Greens were challenging, fairways sloped a very beautiful day.
Blind tee shots, had to drive up to see if anyone was over the hills. First time to the course can't wait to try it again.

Had a good time
Was a wet, windy, cold day. Not to many people playing under those conditions. I thought the course was a very interesting play, and will go back on a nicer day.
This course has many challenging holes to enjoy
The course was in great shape and the greens were fantastic and true to the slope. Wonderful Time!!
Challenging, yet fun course
Course was well maintained for this early in the season. Lots of natural hazards to keep things interesting. Super friendly staff who are eager to please.
Worth It
Whispering Pines is a very nice course - just one or two gimmicky holes - otherwise, upscale and at the golfnow price I booked my round - it was an excellent value.
