About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Nice but not great
Greens in great shape. Not many trees so not many lost balls. Pace of play was good, just about 4 hours. A little pricey considering lack of amenities, no food or drink service, one portable restroom on the course, cart paths could use some work.

Great spot
Mid-November, the course has most of it downed leaves picked up. Fairways and greens are in mid season form. Great spot to play no matter the time of year

Value
Had not played the course in 10 years. They certainly have worked hard on the conditioning of the tees, fairways and greens. It has come along way from when ownership changed 20 years ago. Sand was in good shape and they have rebuilt several tee boxes. Good walking course with many second shot values into raised greens. Very pleased.

Second time out here this Fall. Course in very good condition. Greens small and fast. Friendly staff. Will be back.

Don’t Waste your time. Paid over $60 to play 18 holes and only got in 9. No frost delay but tee time was 45 minutes delayed even though they told us 10 minutes when we arrived. They cram the tee times to make extra money so I hope this backfires on them and knowone comes back to play. No carts ready for us when we teed off. Got to the 3rd hole and there were 5 carts waiting to tee off. 7 if you include our group and 2 carts on the green. Couldn’t believe how slow it was. Waiting on every shot. Never once saw anyone out there checking up and pushing people along. There is no chance I’ll ever go back there. Even for a free round. Place sucks

Firstly thank you for responding, fortunately having a 70 degree day in November is great for your course but unfortunately you guys have tried to use that as an excuse for being so slow. I’d hate to see what everyday above 70 degrees is like there during summer. Oh and in response to there only being 1 group on the 3rd tee that you had perfect site of all day I was so shocked that I actually took a photo of all the carts backed up so if you would like to see the 5 carts plus us waiting please just ask. It’s a shame cause my friends and I have played here 3 times and enjoy the layout but all 3 times it’s been horribly slow so Please don’t make silly excuses about being 70 degrees in November. It’s just a poorly ran course. An apology is really all you needed to say.

Sorry you feel like your time was wasted, however much of what you say is miss represented.
We were very busy due to 70 degrees in November. We have tee times set for both walking and riding, but golfers booked the walking rates and then added carts. This caused the course to be out of carts from the later morning until 2pm. Since many golfers are asking for single carts, these unexpected changes hurt everyone. Thus your comments about seeing so many carts on a hole was really one group and not as referenced. The third hole was in my sight all day.
There also were two rangers out all day, so I am confused how you did not see anyone trying to help. Many others were very complimentary of the staff and conditions.
We really liked it.
Maintenance level has stepped up a lot since our last time out. Greens were pure and the fairways were in good shape.
We appreciate you making the trip from the Philly area! It is nice to hear you noticed the improved conditions from our new grounds crew, they have been working hard to get back to our expected conditions.
Hopefully, you will be back before Winter rolls in.

Course was in great shape, and usually is. You have room to be a little crooked off the tee but your approach shots must be on point coming into the postage stamp sized greens. Greens were rolling great and the bunkers had plenty of sand. Can’t recommend this course enough.
