Mays Landing Golf Club
About
Former president of the PGA of America, Leo Fraser, designed the 18-hole public course at the Mays Landing Golf Club with both advanced and beginning golfers in mind. Touted as the "best birdie for the buck," the Mays Landing golf course provides a great value for all golfers. The course was meticulously designed over 175 acres of beautiful pineland with scenic tree-lined fairways.
Mays Landing Golf Club provides an experience similar to one at a private country club with its excellent service and amenities including a pro shop, restaurant, and PGA instructors on site. On hot days they even have cool towels for you and they always have roaming beverage carts. The course is 6,633 yards at the longest tees, playing to a par of 72.

won't go back
so it seem like there was no effort at all to keep this couse in decent conditions. I know we r going through some tough times, but can't u clean the bathrooms and do a better job w the greens. come on that doesn't take a lot of effort. also they need better directions getting from the back nine to the front line.
Fairways needed work
I played the day after a huge storm however the greens and fairways need TLC However great value
Nice course for the price
Course is in good shape, nice layout. Can’t beat it for the price and the staff are very accommodating.
P:ossibilities
This is a course that once had great greens and were lost under the current ownership. But n ow it seems action is being taken to renew the course and it shows.. I just wish they had some food to go with the few drinks they offer.
Worth playing at the Jersey Shore
Great value for a decent layout near the S Jersey beach towns. About 6000 yards from the white tees. Very flat and mostly wide open. I played in the middle of a hot spell and the course was very dry. Added a lot of length to the tee shots but otherwise the course held up well. Staff did a good job managing the play during the Virus environment. Met a very helpful guy at the turn who was maintaining the range. Turned out to be the owner! Doesn’t happen every day :) Good track for the money. Looking forward to returning after some rain.
Never Again
Debated whether I actually wanted to write this. Course was in the worst shape I have ever seen it in 15+ years. Have only played maybe a handful of times and its only getting worse. Took 5 plus hours to play and waited on every tee box. Every fairway was in very poor condition, which was burnt out or just clumpy. The greens were in even worse shape. You can tell the greens and approx. 50 yards before green are the only locations they occasionally use sprinklers, but did not see one turn on at all today.. Still did not help as greens were brutal. There were only two ball washers on course and neither had water. None of the water coolers were out. I know its post COVID time, but I've played about six different courses since NJ golf has been opened back up and they all gradually got those things operational. The bathroom on the course had no water, infested w/ flies and was disgusting. The outside halfway house had $6 airplane bottle drinks, Sprite, two flavors of Gatorade, one type of beer and hot-dogs. Nothing else. No beverage cart, nothing available on the course to keep you hydrated. I will give them credit for having driving range and large putting/chipping area that was in ok shape.
Yes I understand the current environment with COVID, but every other course I've played this year took advantage of the shutdown to make improvements. Mays Landing did nothing. Staff was friendly but I feel bad for them as MANAGEMENT has put them in such a bad situation to have to deal with the course. No way they can be proud they work there other than collecting a paycheck. As one of my playing partners said after 3 holes, "This place is a straight up money grab!" I'd much rather play the county course or pay 3x's as much to play Seaview, AC or something like that. I can't see how this course makes it past 2020 at this rate.
Decent course for the Money!
The greens were in OK shape. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The biggest complaint I have is we couldn’t find hole 2 we had to drive back to the first tee to ask the staff and she said yeah that’s been happening. Simple signage would fix it.
Course is in below average shape for this time of year, not enough irrigation in places. Greens need help. Rained out after 12 so didn’t see it all. Average course which is fine for most golfers. I would play again knowing what to expect for the money.
The course was horrible and they said if it had been busy I would have had to pay $10.00 dollars for a separate cart. Which is absolutely insane you’re policy said cart. There were weeds on the greens
I wrote a review about my experience the other day but I wanted you to know that if I wanted a separate cart if they had been busy they wanted me to pay an additional $10.00 dollars which I would have been not happy and with this pandemic I thought that was disrespectful for me to take care of myself.
Good value
The walking rate is reasonable and the pace of play is great for the afternoon. Recommend cutting a walking strip from the tee box to the fairway since the course is walking only after 2:00.
Nice staff, good pace of play, very poor conditions.
The course has a lot of potential but was in terrible condition. I think the course has really taken a big hit due to C19.
Course going downhill
Fairways need mowing with sharp mowers. Bare spots in fareways and rough Greens need attention.
June in the corona era
The fairways were awful the sand traps were awful. The pace of play was great but the conditions were the worst. I’m sure they had no one tending the course.
COURSE UPGRADE NEEDED
I have played this course many times in the past and unfortunately feel that course conditions have deteriorated. This may be a result of lack of revenue due to the Covid-19 virus. Hopefully conditions will improve in the sand traps, lack of sand, fairways, and most important the greens which were in fair condition at best.. I walked on a very hot day and i would like to suggest that better signage can be utilized to make the walk between holes one and two a bit easier to navigate.
The staff person inside the pro shop was very nice and accomadating. I would only recommend the course at this time due to the reasonable walking fee.
