Mays Landing Golf Club
About
Former president of the PGA of America, Leo Fraser, designed the 18-hole public course at the Mays Landing Golf Club with both advanced and beginning golfers in mind. Touted as the "best birdie for the buck," the Mays Landing golf course provides a great value for all golfers. The course was meticulously designed over 175 acres of beautiful pineland with scenic tree-lined fairways.
Mays Landing Golf Club provides an experience similar to one at a private country club with its excellent service and amenities including a pro shop, restaurant, and PGA instructors on site. On hot days they even have cool towels for you and they always have roaming beverage carts. The course is 6,633 yards at the longest tees, playing to a par of 72.

Needs work
They are planning some work on the course in the near future. With the shutdown there was minimal workers to keep up with the maintenance.
So much potential
Played twice and decided to give them a few years to make some adjustments.
Greens were yellow and had significant debris both times.
Fairways showed lots of dirt and there were a lot of weeds.
Fairway was mowed, but the rough was quite rough. Not in a way that was intentional either.
Our cart barely had enough charge to get back to the clubhouse. I was literally pushing off like a skateboard on the 18th hole.
Cart paths had significant craters in them and made for an uncomfortable ride. Not potholes, craters
Very few, if any, yardages on the sprinkler heads.
Lots of leaves built-up under trees.
Would’ve been much more tolerable if we could’ve gotten a beer and a hotdog after the 9th, but the stand was closed.
Needs TLC
I always loved this course but because of the Covid 19 conditions and the late start the course was in just fair shape
Course
So first time playing this course. Always have seen it on GolfNow for a decent rate and the pictures always seem to make the course look decent.
I’m not sure if the course had changed ownership over the last few years but some of the course was in pretty ragged condition while other parts of the course were in pretty darn good shape. The course has a wonderful layout but the course itself needs some love(AKA - soil, seed, fertilizer, and water). The staff was friendly and inviting.
I understand with the current situation of our economy but I really hope the course can make a turn around. It would’ve been great to see this course in its heyday or hope it’s heyday is in the future.
You get what you pay for...
Contrary to the name this is not a country club style course. It is a minimally maintained learner course with an extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Conditions:
Weather: Clear cool. Course was dry.
Tee Boxes: Above average. Flat and marked well.
Fairways: Fast with a lot of role out but grass was choppy and divots not being filled. No clear distinction between fairway and rough.
Bunkers: Washed out and not being maintained
Greens: Extremely fast but were damaged with uneven roll.
Overall, Not a bad course to practice. It is inexpensive and has a laid back atmosphere. This was my first time playing it and in the courses defense it was just reopened after the Stay-At-Home order.

Approach this course with a mindset that this is an inexpensive learner course. Contrary to the name this is not a country club style course.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Course conditions:
Weather was clear and course was dry.
-Tee boxes were in above average condition.
-Fairways were hard with a lot of role out. Grass was not consistent, and divot holes were not being filled.
_Bunkers were washed out or not being maintained
-Greens were super hard and fast but were not in great condition (uneven and damaged)
Overall, it was a great value for $22 + tax.
Nice layout that need some work
Course has a nice layout with small greens. A parkland style course. Greens and fairways need some some work. Due to Covid 19 the tee times were 16 minutes apart and only twosomes allowed. Due to very long walks from hole 1 to 2 and 9 to 10, it was a 4:15 round. Would have been 4:00 without those walks.
With just a little TLC this would be a very good course, but it was still fair and fun. Glad I played and will play again.
Not worth it
This course is way too expensive for the condition it is in. Should be under 30 for 18. Some of the local 9 hole courses are in better shape. Only played here because tee times are hard to come by for the time being.
Mays Landing
The staff was great, course has a nice layout but needs a lot of work and money put into this course to be really nice.
I had to travel 56 miles from my home to play.
I had a good time weather was great I’m glad I got the chance to play.
Horrible Course
After such a long time of no golf traffic (Covid 19) and with the words “Country Club” in its name, my expectations were no where near met When I played, what looked like a really nice course a long time ago, yesterday.
The fairway grass was blotchy, the rough wasn’t cut, the sand traps were either like concrete or they had grass growing in them and were being overtaken by the weeds of the fairways.
In its current condition, this is a $25 course, at best.
I won’t play it again, and certainly would recommend it to anyone.
Sorry...
Cold
Cold windy day on the course. Great to be out and walking during this Corona. Sunshine is one of the best vitamins for us. Mays Landing followed the rules and it was a great afternoon.
Poor shape
I fully understand that the course (like all) has been closed. However, it was obvious that ownership did nothing during this time. Even the local muni's did maintenance and improvements during the shutdown.
It's just great to be out again after golf was irresponsibly taken from us. The course I'm sad to say is in terrible condition and looks like it has not had any maintenance in a year. Fairway turf is thin and un cut, ruff is sparce and uncut and greens are for the most part very poor.
We’re back Baby!
Thank goodness, we’re back baby. Social distancing guidelines followed by all. Tee times every 15 minutes. Tee boxes and greens I’ll give an 8.5. Both in great shape. Fairways were 6.5 and not bad for being understaffed for the past 6 weeks or so. For under $40, everything was great.
Neighborhood course
Fun to be back. Hot day, walked because staff unavailable for carts that late. Some fairways in better shape than others. Same for greens. Lots of twigs, Acorns all over. Great price. Can’t complain. Decent layout.
Horrible condition
Played here for the first time and it'll be the last time playing here. I wouldn't recommend this course to no one. the condition of the course was horrible. you can't even put because most of the hole cups are raised up .
