Good Condition
The course is in really good condition. The greens are really fast. Not a fan of the redo on the practice area, you can't really hit anything off a tee anymore.
Great course
The course was in excellent condition and I throughly enjoyed playing there!
Horrible Starter
Starter pit my group out minimally 30 minutes prior to my arrival and so was 20 minutes early for an 11:20 round. The next group was not scheduled to start for 30 minutes. Starter said “ You can play solo? Seriously? The group ahead of me took 24 minutes to complete a par 5? No thabks. On home #1. I left and I’ll never play Golden Pheasant again.
Unprofessional Starter -Exited the course
The starter sent my group out prior to my arrival despite the fact I showed up 20 minutes early. I was forced to play as a single on an 88 deveee high humidity day. Hard pass. I left without playing.
If you want to be treated poorly play Golden Phesant.
Good layout with a two or three holes that were expections
My oldest son and I enjoyed the course. The course layout and pin selection was enjoyable, greens were challenging with a few sand traps around the greens under construction. There were one or two holes that if a person shanked their drive, they could easily hit you( we almost got hit twice), but otherwise the course was challenging, especially a couple of par Fours. If it’s going to be your first time playing there, I would suggest using GPS on your phone app. Definitely worth the 40 minute drive to get there.
Pleasantly surprised
I had not played Golden Pheasant in a while, and I very pleasantly surprised to see all the improvements that were done to the course. This includes (but not limited to) all paved cart paths, tree removal for improved air flow and overall good course maintenance.
The tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in very good condition. The greens alone were well maintained and very fast. The rough was thick and fair but not too high. The only knock on the course is the close proximity of the fairways to one another and the limited trees separating the holes, which can potentially make errant tee shots a danger for golfers on neighboring fairways. Overall, the course is nice play and worth the fee paid. Will definitely play it again.
Too Wet to Play
Rain. Called course at 8 am. No answer with 5 minute hold. Called again 10 minutes later. Course said they were sending out players. No weather but the standing water on the course took away shot after shot because there was too much water everywhere getting between the ball & the club. Not until the 13th hole were conditions not soaked. Course should make better decisions on weather. On a typical day this course would receive more 5 stars ratings.
Brutal Rough, Blind Shots and Bunkers under construction
What the course lacked in length it easily made up with the deep grass right off the fairways. It made it very difficult to advance the ball out of the rough. The numerous blind shots made it difficult to navigate the course without a guide book. There were several bunkers under repair and inconsistent sand in a number of others. The natural surroundings makes the course appealing. But you must keep your eyes open for stray shots as some tee boxes are close to the prior green. Good luck out there.
