Palms at Palm-Aire Country Club
About
The Palms Golf Course is a tract that locals and visitors alike just love to play. Originally designed by William Mitchell in 1962, the Palms was completely renovated by Karl Litton and Lorie Viola in 1996.
The accommodating fairways make it easier to hit your tee shots in play. Once on the 'dance floor', the Bermuda greens roll true and quick.
The Palms Course has a number of picturesque water hazards. As its name would indicate, the Palms features lovely native Palm trees throughout the course.
It is most definitely a true Florida golf course and one, which everybody should put on their 'must play' list .

Very good value
I have played the palms course several times this season and was impressed with the overall condition of the course. The fairways and greens are in very good shape. In addition they are spacing groups about 16 minutes apart so the pace of play has been good. The staff I have interacted with has been friendly and the practice facility is very nice too!
Better than many
The quality of the public golf courses in South Florida has certainly deteriorated over time. The course is relatively well kept and a fun track for the average golfer. Greens rolled nice. Even though most of the patrons haven’t learned how to use a Divot tool! Pace of play was super fast on the front nine and then slow as molasses on the back. I think the club decided to load up additional Foursomes on the back nine which wasn’t appreciated. But I plan to go back during my next visit to the area
Mgmt fail at customer service
No bag drop Mgmt rules very disrespectful to seniors As a 70 yr old man with multiple co-morbidities, I received zero consideration. I was ordered around at every step as if I was a new recruit in basic trading. Drill sgt running clubhouse. Front doors locked so stafff can skip vacuuming front entryway. Bathrooms closed so staff can skip cleaning them. Walk from parking lot to driving range is almost 1/2 mile. Not allowed to use cart to get there. Must tote your own bags. Cannot pay greens fees in clubhouse, must go to outside window. I was treated like a rented mule and told told to park the cart out away from the building when done and tote my bags the half mile back to the parking lot to make it more convenient to park the carts in the shed. Absolutely no consideration for the golfers. I have a better experience playing golf in the sticks of rural Georgia. The management here forgot the first rule of business. The customer comes first and the courtesy flows to the man paying the cash. Will never be back here again
Good Layout
The course plays fairly. The staff is working daily on improvements. Greens were in very good shape. Course gets a lot of play. Very popular
not worth the time or money
must have been nice play in the day. It has been severely neglected, and needs work.
Unmaintained bunkers, dead patches on the greens, and little to no grass in the approach areas.
there was no one to help the older people I was playing with with their bags.
definitely a pass for next go around.
Sunday round
Course wasn’t bad besides starting at 11:15 and our tee time was 10:36.
I like the course layout and greens were in good condition. A few greens had some sand spots and they rolled fast.
Pace of play was slow even starting almost 30minutes late.
Don’t be fooled by the title “country club”
I read the reviews on these courses and was under the impression these were semi-private clubs allowing daily fee players, and that the facilities would reflect that type of club. Not so. The clubhouse was not a clubhouse and we were greeted at the front by a grumpy starter in a cart who actually told me to stay in my car or in the parking lot until 10 minutes before our tee-time, which, given the fact that we were 40 minutes early to warm up, was not going to happen. Only when I asked about a driving range did he offer to tell me where to go. And when I asked if we could take a cart, the answer was a firm “no!”
I’m not opposed to walking to the driving range (or for an entire 18 holes, in fact) but this was not an easy trek with all of our things that we had brought to put in the cart. When we were making our way back to the parking lot, we were told to hurry up to get in our cart 20 minutes prior to our a tree-time, but as I was lugging my clubs from the driving range the attendant didn’t offer to put them on his cart so we could actually walk faster.
We rented one set of clubs in advance and they did have those waiting, but only to discover after getting to the first green that the putter grip had disintegrated.
Course conditions: greens were as other reviewers had stated: rolled well, somewhat quick, but in terrific shape for a course that I consider a municipal. Bunkers had inconsistent sand varieties but mostly in good shape. Fairways were green and lush, with standing water in occasional areas but that seemed to be more of a drainage issue, not lack of maintenance.
There was no sand to fill divots, no ice to keep your drinks cold since there’s no beverage carts on course, and limited options to purchase from the golf shop.
My hometown Donald Ross municipal costs $18 and has identical offerings...paying $54 for this round felt egregious. I’ve been in the golf (country club, resort, and semi-private) business for 20 years and I want every course to survive and happily pay to play, but I think if you change north of $40 for zero service and amenities and hope the course will carry the weight, it better be immaculate.
Highlight of the day was being paired with another couple who played the same tees as we did (whites) as she too, was a previous tournament and college player. They had played Cypress the day prior and had similar comments as mine. Bottom line is that I don’t think they can use Covid as an excuse for having sub-par service and amenities - other clubs make it work.
Great Bang For The Buck
Course was very, very busy! Still got around in a little over 4 hours with very little waiting.
GREENS- Fantastic! Very fast and receptive
FAIRWAYS- Good, a few bare spots on edges, ball actually rolled a little.
TEES- Very Good
LAYOUT- overall pretty good. One severe dogleg left Par 5 that was goofy without knowing where or how far to hit. One Par 5 with creek running thru landing zone.
STAFF-5 STARS- FRIENDLY AND APPRECIATIVE of our choosing there Course!
Good morning of golf...
Played this morning, and finished in less than four hours, so pace of play was good. Tee boxes were a little rough, fairways in great shape, and greens excellent...rolled very fast, but were soft and held well. Pretty golf course, not spectacular, with an old clubhouse and pro shop. Nice staff...very good value for the money.
Pleasantly surprised
Went in not expecting much based on reviews. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised with the course overall. Greens were in good condition and rolling true. Tees and fairways were also nice. You can definitely score if you hit good shots around the course. We played it back and enjoyed some challenging shots of tees nice variety of what you pull out of the bag off the tees. Overall really enjoyed it and will return for sure. If you’re Covid concerned they’re doing a great job with social distancing.
