Palms at Palm-Aire Country Club
About
The Palms Golf Course is a tract that locals and visitors alike just love to play. Originally designed by William Mitchell in 1962, the Palms was completely renovated by Karl Litton and Lorie Viola in 1996.
The accommodating fairways make it easier to hit your tee shots in play. Once on the 'dance floor', the Bermuda greens roll true and quick.
The Palms Course has a number of picturesque water hazards. As its name would indicate, the Palms features lovely native Palm trees throughout the course.
It is most definitely a true Florida golf course and one, which everybody should put on their 'must play' list .

First round at this course
Too many people put out on to the course causing slow play with no visible course marshals. Starters were not friendly or helpful.
Course conditions were good and greens were reasonably fast and true.
Would play again if course not busy.
Egreen great and fast, fairway hard overplayed. Crowded.
Mediocre knock about
Course is borderline dis repair. The driving range looks like a piece of waste land. The fairways are badly maintained and looks like nobody repairs divots nor their pitch marks! Some greens were decent but the areas around the greens in some places is awful. There are a few spectacular holes that are really wastes on this course but great to play nonetheless. The par 5 dogleg left 11th with the second shot a mid to long iron coming in over water was a great hole. Some fairways are in good condition and the greens are the best part about this course. Shame really as this could be a good track. Easy enough course for a low to mid handicap. Recommend this for anyone playing above a 12-15 handicap. Just from a skill level perspective. Course maintenance could be better. Other courses in the area are better value for money. Share because this course offers potential.
the staff after the game
Those guys were disrespectful and rude. Without tip, they were in the hurry that we leave the cart and let us go with our bag to the parking without any help.
Other better alternatives
Greens are in need of repair. A lot of dead spots from ball marks, etc.
Every bunker was not in or near playable condition.
Pace of play was very slow. I was a single, but no room to leap frog. Many 4-somes of primarily seniors/hi handicap players. The groups I followed weren't really bad golfers, they just needed 3 and 4 shots to reach the green, which is slow when each golfer is taking 2-4 rehearsal swings prior to each shot..... as if it mattered ;-)
At the turn I was at 2 hours 35 minutes. On the 10th it was a foursome on the green, another on the fairway, and a foursome on the T-box. I went back to #1 to reload there but similar pressure there. I left as I didn't have time for 5+ hour round.
And finally, no menu service for a hamburger or salad. Only pre-made sandwich/hot dog.
Overall, if you're a local getting the $20 rate including cart, and have time to wait it out, then OK. If like me, here with some obligations and 5 hour limit, it might not be the best choice.
Finally, the staff is nice, friendly tho.
Comeback Kid
after three months not playing I had a nice time getting back in the swing of things(sic)! It was hot but since it was right after the eclipse not too bad. Tees and greens in great shape!
Surprising greens
The greens are the best I've seen here in 10 years. I would say medium - fast....10.5....rolling true.
Thank you Superintendent!
Bag attendant was not good when we left. The other week they were great.
Play here frequently.
I am about a 20 handicap player. The course is like a resort course. You almost can't be too far off to get back to play for the green. This course is played a lot by tourist. All friendly and all in good spirits. I tend to bargain shop my courses for any given day and this course us usually the best option and price. I take my higher handicap visitors here, but there is a tougher and busier course at the same resort.
Conditions are about average with some tee boxes that you will have to work around. There are some trouble spots with water. Not an extrem long course but it challenges. Some of the homes and condos are closer than I like. I still play here frequently.
Better be ready to move
I enjoy golf like I enjoy my wine. I like to take my time & enjoy every shot/sip. I have not felt this rushed in awhile. When we arrived we were immediately paired with two gentlemen that had been staying at the resort. We could tell they were in the mood to hurry. The Marshall at the starting gate spoke briefly about pace of play & explained how important it was to the club. From that moment on we felt rushed. We played 18 in 3:40.
An economical option in the season
The Palm Aire Palms course is one of the Can-Am group of courses in the Ft Lauderdale area, It is one of the most reasonably affordable rounds of golf in peak season that is still a good playable track. The facilities are moderate and dated, but the course is always in decent and playable condition. The greens were faster and better than expected, and a 4 hour 15 minute pace of play for a perfect weather Saturday morning was surprisingly good. The course is very playable. Wjile lined with condos, they are generally set back and do not (or should not!) come into play.. It has a drainage sytem designed to create streams that work across several fairways. Distances to the streams are not indicated anywhere, and I couldnt find anything to ping a rangefinder off of, which forced uninformed decisions from the tee. The drainage system also creates linear water along the side of many fairways and buffer between condos and golf course. All in all a good practice course to work on the swing in the middle of the season that won't break the bank. Finally the course is across the street from the Isles Casino that has a very good NY deli and a trotters race track.
Thank you somerled for coming out to play the Palms course. We understand that conditions can be improved; and we are doing our best to mend what we can during this dormant season for bermuda grass. So we do hope that we will get an opportunity to host you and your friends for another round soon. As we too agree that the Palms is a "good track" that hopefully will be a "GREAT TRACK" the next time you join us. Also, be sure to check out our website, palmaire.clublink.com, for golf specials, as well as information on our Loyalty Card program for repeat Palm Aire Players. Thanks again, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
