Worth trying!
Course was in good shape, tee boxes need some TLC, but thats expected on mountain courses with limited space. Fairways were very good, rough is thick, but maintained. Greens are long/skinny, but great shape and rolled well. Maintenance crew does a great job! Layout was awesome, some strategic holes, and some wide open holes, but fair. Got a deal on golf now for like $45, absolutely ecstatic about that! Its a $75-80 course in my opinion. Sounds like it has improved dramatically over last little bit and sounds like they plan to continue that. Definitely worth playing!
Course in great shape.
Course was in great shape. Good value for the price. I amenities so that’s a minus.
This course has improved dramatically over the last 2 1/2 years
I love everything about this course except the bunkers. They are very neglected and I don’t understand why since everything else is so good. They are not even raked
In excellent shape
Course in excellent shape. Greens are in really good shape albeit a bit slow compared to what I used to. Fairways generally perfect. I didn’t get a chance to sample the pub which I think is open at noon.
Nice course, but no cart/restaurant
Really enjoyed playing here. When I got in they gave me a sheet that had some helpful course management and they let me go off early since the sheet was pretty open. Would have loved to know the pub wasn’t open and there could have been greater communication on a few things but overall pretty good experience. Would play again, but bring your rangefinder.
Shoutout to the cart guy who found my rangefinder and took the time to call me immediately so I could come back and grab it. I hadn’t even left the street yet!
Nice course. Greens in great condition. Could use handrails on steps at tee boxes.
Improved Course
Played on the 4th of July. $75 seems a little high but it seems if all courses are getting expensive. They are doing great work on course improvements. Greens were nice and fairways were great.
Interesting
Really good greens, fairways nice, tee boxes ok. Many large greens but narrow and long. Approach shots need to come from correct angles. Medium speed if u can't putt it's going to be a long day. The front is the more difficult with the back being a joy to play as it opens up a little. The course plays to slope rating on card. Will definitely play again as the views and overall conditions are worth it.
Chestnut Improving
Played Chestnut in mid-April and course conditions have improved - fairways have better grass coverage, greens in good shape, rough is a bit thick, tee boxes still improving & I wasn’t in any sand! A short summer shower slowed play conditions, typical of summer golf in the Blue Ridge. A fun semi-private course.
Excellent course and beautiful place!
The course is in great condition, amazing 3D mountain Golf - with downhill shots into lush green valleys. They keep the place in wonderful condition and the staff is super friendly. Vire of mountains and valleys all green as it gets, subtropical rainforest. They have loaner clubs included and Cart fee is included too. Value, meets beauty, and pretty challenging course. Many risk reward decisions but the money is on the ones that keep it straight! Definitely enjoyed and will return!
Nice
Nice course for the price. The grass could have been cut. I lost a few balls bc the grass was so tall. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
The course was decent and would play there again. However, the GPS on both carts were off by about 20-30 yards. Also, some spots on the cart paths needed to be repaired.
Overall, it was a fun and challenging course.
Excellent value
Great course, beautiful scenery. Though the 13th hole was a bit quirky, the rest of the course made up for the experience. Would definitely play again.
Great course
A lot of our courses in this area were damaged by hurricane Helene. Chestnut Mountain has done a fantastic job of restoring it and making one of the better places around to golf and enjoy golf. Challenging and he had very fair and fun.
Hilly. Quirky. Fun!
Located in a gated community, this is a hilly and quirky course that is actually pretty fun to play. As first-timers, we had to learn as we went along, and there are a few holes we would play differently the next time. The staff was very friendly, even walking out to give us the "lay of the land", which was basically a course that winds up-and-down through a hilly area near Asheville. It would be a strenuous walk, so we were happy to have taken a cart. The holes tend to be fairly narrow, but because of trees, not houses. There was a good mix of par3s, par4s and par5s. Length was pretty reasonable, and some blind shots come into play. The conditions were early-season, but should improve nicely through the spring and into summer. We will play here again.
Greening up!
Play here at least 6 times per year. Fairways are greening up. Like the course alot. Negatives. Greens were insanely slow, I know we have had a bunch of rain, but really need a cut and roll. All 4 of us were leaving putts short all day, even on downhill runs. Tee box at 11, please mow it!!! It is as thick as the rough, and is that way alot. Other tee boxes need work, very uneven, patchy, hard to find a even stance. Let the rough right side of 16 fairway grow, one should not end up on the other side of the cart path when driver is straight as an arrow down the middle. 2nd time this year it has happened to more than one in the group. See ya again soon!

The rough is gnarly i lost balls too.
