Black Mountain Golf Course

FIRST, GOLF NOW— You need to figure out how to let golfers know when these courses are under maintenance. The shop was prompt to inform us an hour before our tee time about aerated greens. The shop does not carry anything but tee times and The Green Tea Grille never opened due to a mystery involving the owner/operator. I’m sure this was an uncharacteristic experience for their players today BUT boy what a bad day for golf at Black Mountain.

Course was not manicured, but for my first round of the year and playing with my novice wife it was a very good value. We took a cart but we could have walked. I’d recommend it for the cost.

We played on a kind of rainy day, but the course was in pretty bad shape. Fairways were average but the greens were bad. Very slow, a LOT of sand on them even though they aerated 2 months ago. Impossible to make a putt with the un-true speeds and cut. The tee boxes also need some work… some you can’t get a tee in them at all.

The layout is a blast and very challenging but fair. We will go back in the spring and hope the greens are doing better.

It has to be said, some of the nicest golf course folks work there. The guy in the pro shop was great. The staff in the snack house were amazingly friendly! Great experience in that way.

Overall great golfing experience at Black Mount! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful when arriving.

Course conditions were in great shape and the overall layout of the course was challenging but very fair. Highly recommend you giving it a shot.

The course was in good shape. they aerated but filled in with sand. Some holes were challenging because you could not see where you needed to drive but had direction from Garmin. Overall we enjoyed the course and had fun. Lost a few balls.

I love playing this course; however, the greens on this visit were a mess. I know that they are probably preparing for winter but there was no real putting as there was so much sand on the greens that it was almost unplayable. I was also surprised by the amount of kill on the fairways with large areas of brown patches. This was my wife’s first time playing here and she was not impressed by the shared fairways on the front 9. I will be back but next year after it recovers from the winter.

The greens are un-puttable due to the extreme amount of sand used to plug the holes caused by aerating the greens.
