Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Fantastic value

Lochmere Golf Club is an incredibly inviting course, from its staff to the course layout and it’s pacing of play. All around great value and a course that plays extremely friendly from a total yardage standpoint. If you can stay away from the water, then you’re golden. Even if you hit it into the trees, you’re more likely than not to receive a friendly bounce back into the fairway. I will certainly play this course many more times in the future.

Good value

Bring a range finder or gps. Barely a yardage marker on the whole course.

Cart Path Only deserves a discount.

Loved the new greens. Very challenging, because of the subtle breaks. Course played long because of the rain. But, most fairways were quite playable. Only a few casual water drops necessary.

I understand the need for cart path only to protect the course. But, If you are going to do that, then a discount should be applied to those who take a cart. It's actually

more work to take 3 clubs out to your ball, with towel and GPS.and return to the cart.

Lochmere

Good course. Very narrow. Greens were firm as they appeared to have been sanded recently. Putts rolled well. Course is fairly short and a lot of the holes were similar in design and yardage. Overall its a nice simple course good for any level of player.

Lochmere CC

If it sprinkles get ready to walk. Cartpath only for sure if any rain. Course needs a rebuild with fill dirt added to raise it a couple of feet.

Fun shot making course.

Fun course to walk. Driver isn’t necessary except for a few holes. If you can shape shots well, then this is for you. Two things to note; greens are inconsistent in speed. Lack of water drainage hurts the course in some spots.

Nice Course, Poor Drainage

Have played Lochmere several times and like the course layout. Not too long and some fun holes. Big issue with the course is it does not drain well. You pretty much need several weeks of dry weather before a round to avoid puddles and mud.

Soggy

Fairways were so wet, never found a dry spot to hit from. Surprised the course was open. Hadn’t rained for a couple of days, so Swampmere obviously doesn’t drain or dry out well. Stopped after nine because of condition. Will only play here again if no rain for 2 weeks prior.

It’s appropriately named. Not a dry spot on this course.

Don’t go if it has rained

This course has potential but if it rained in the few days before your tee time it’s going to be muddy and not a great time. Staff is friendly and they have just about all you need minus the driving range which is closed if it’s wet.

Sloppy Mess

After receiving 3” of rain prior to playing the course, especially the fairways were like a swampland. Play should have been suspended so the course isn’t ruined for the season. Standing water all over, every fairway.

Cart Path Only

Green are really nice and staff (especially Starter) were friendly. Just hate that this course stays so wet and they have to bring out the “Cart Path Only” sign.
