Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Lochmere course was well maintained. Course was fun and fair to play. Haven't played there in 15 years. Good to try it again. Enjoyed the afternoon.
Great course, great value!
Course is tight and short. Great design! Staff very friendly and helpful. Pace of play was a little slower. Had a great day! Can’t beat their twilight rate! Came all the way from Toronto, Canada
Pace
2nd time playing the course and 2nd time waiting 10+ mins on each tee. Ranger said, “Keep up with the folks in front of you.” The folks in front of me were standing waiting for 5 mins to hit their tee off (10th hole) so I’d say yes, I kept up.
Great course, poor pace management. Great for anyone who is new and wants to take a child to take their time through the holes.
Slow play
There are way to many people on this course. There is no reason to have a 5 hour round of golf. Minimizing tee times would definitely help out a lot
Going to be money in a few weeks
Played on 6/13. Course is in immaculate shape. Rough is thick and full. Fairways are tight and very solid. Greens just sanded and aerated a week before, but will be great when it heals.
I have played this course for 25 years. It was in pretty good shape except the greens. The green had deep aeration done 5 days before our round. They should have had a bullet on this site to let the paying public know this. Besides the greens pace was good and had a fun round.
Great conditions
This course notoriously does not drain well but if you play it on a dry week, it plays nice. The greens and overall course grass was in better shape than normal and the rates here are very acceptable. I think the concessions at the course are overpriced and usually don’t spend money there. Great range and putting green for practice.
No warning of aerated greens
Booked this tee time via GolfNow. Paid regular tee time price and was surprised to see greens punched without any kind of warning or notice on the GolfNow reservation or from the pro shop.
I understand that aerating the green is necessary to prepare the course for the summer, especially for a course that gets as much play as lochmere.
But there is a aeration notice feature on GolfNow for a reason, and it is the course’s responsibility to use that feature.
Worthwhile trip
Course condition is everything to me. So I was not disappointed at all this past weekend. The greens were perfect. Just a note to all reading this shortly after posted date: They did aerify the greens that same afternoon. You may want to delay your next visit another week or 2. Few could figure why they were doing it now but I assume it’s prep for a busy & hot summer season.
Course was a nice surprise.
I was staying in Cary and decided to try out this course. I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of this course for the price I paid to play. If I lived here, I would definitely come back. Only had one issue. I played on a Friday at 5:50. It was smooth sailing until hole 4, by hole 9 it was backed up 5 groups deep. Was really hoping to see the back 9 but kind of my fault for not making an earlier tee time.
