About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

What is the problem with the back nine?
Fantastic greeting by the ranger and he found me two wonderful partners as I was by myself. The front nine of Lochmere is probably the best in the region however, the back still remains inconsistent with its tee boxes and especially the areas around the greens. If only we could rip it all up, elevate it ( i.e, Finley) it would be partner with the front.
Close down the back this winter. Make it right .
Easy tour
My only complaint was the starter was sending 9 holers off the back side so our second nine was slower than molasses.
Nice course for the price
Lochmere is a scenic course with surprisingly nice greens for a public course. Combine that with the price and it was a fun experience. The starter was pretty good at keeping things moving. I played it on a Sunday afternoon with beautiful weather and had the expectation that it would get backed up as it was a weekend. All in all a good value.
Good experience!
Lochmere is a nice course. Layout is very pretty. Greens were in good shape but quite slow. Pace of play was slow during the front 9, but picked up on the back. Staff was vey friendly.
This course has great features
Nice fairways - straight drives are a premium. Sand traps excellent. Greens were slow but otherwise in great condition.
Pleasantly surprised
In spite of heavy rains recently, the course was in very good shape. Greens were a tad slow, but very puttable.
The areas off fairway need some good old fashioned clean up. Lots of debris, fallen branches, stumps, etc, have not been removed since I last played the course.
Needs help
It hadn't rained in two weeks. Course was still muddy in spots. So you are pretty much safe it it hasn't;t rained in a while. Slow play all day (5hr. round) Two gentlemen wanted to be by themselves and walk. Starter allowed this on a Friday! Held everyone up.
Lochmere review
Greens in excellent shape- looks like most everybody is repairing marks- wish I could say same for fairway divots
Overall excellent value for the price I ended up paying- less than $35 including cart
Nice course layout.
Course has challenging features. Good pace of play with variety of pars.
Not great after a rain
Good course that is in good shape. Just doesn’t drain well post the rain.
