Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Very slow pace
This was my first time playing so understanding this could have just been because of the groups in front of us but it played very slow. Course was in good shape and greens putted well. It’s a good course just very busy and tight quarters on some holes has balls from other fairways flying in.
Great course, horrible pace of play
I love Lochmere because it’s a very easy and well taken care of course but I tend to avoid coming here if possible. I have never been to this course and actually had a good pace of play. Every single time I go there I find myself waiting at every Tee box for the group ahead of me. If your lucky you can come out here during the week and not wait but that is rare. Countless amounts of times where I have paid for 18 and decided not to play the back 9 because there is such a backup. Even with a starter on the weekends there is a backup. If the pace of play and course Managment was better here, it would be my go to course but I can’t stand waiting for the group ahead of me on every single hole. Pace of play does not make it enjoyable. I gave it one more try last weekend and it proved to me that it will never get better and I won’t be golfing there anymore.
Muddy day!
First, Lochmere has done a tremendous job with water drainage since the past however, I would recommend building bulkheads ( like Blair Park and Oak Hollow ) on your holes 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17. The fairways need to be elevated. This process not only extends the live if the course, it make it more safer and enjoyable to play. I just want to say, when the Loch is dry, it's fantastic.
Good luck
Great value
This is my home course that i play at least once a week, so i am very biased.
Overall the course is a great value for what you pay. The layout of the front is very challenging yet simple. An emphasis is placed on everything off the tee, and several holes demand something other than driver on some par 4's in order to not reach hazard. Water comes into play on several holes, including 3,4,6,7, and 9. If you play to the course layout, water is easily avoided however.
Greens were punched in June and have been recovering nicely. Bunkers have nice white, fluffy sand that is a breeze getting out of. I really appreciate how flat this course is. Walking 9 holes after work is significantly more enjoyable knowing i'm not climbing Everest. Its basically pancake flat, with no blind shots to speak of. Enjoy!
EXCELLENT - on a holiday
Despite holiday, rangers keep play going. Ease of booking, quick check in at pro shop, off to first tee, play, fun. Course in mint shape.
Nice and Green
The course is nice and green yeah, fair amount the sand.. Unfortunately the greens have recently been punched and sanded so not rolling very true. Pace of play is terrible, people not playing from proper tees.
Enjoyed this day
Very nice layout. Course in excellent condition. Greens were aerated a couple of weeks back and they are not yet at their best.
Play this Course !!!!!!
I very much enjoyed my round at Lochmere. The course is very challenging with more WATER than I expected. It had rained the night before and the course was wet, but you could easily find spots dry areas to play your shot. The greens were punched and sanded about a week ago. They rolled good and should be EXCELLENT in about 2 weeks. GO play this course, you will enjoy it.
Excellent course
I've played several times at this course , good to see such great improvements! Aeration of the greens were the worst! Other than that, great course! Will be back to play!
Lochmere doesn’t care about the golfers.
Lochmere was very slow, no starter and they had people cutting down trees in the middle of course during the middle of the day. This was very disruptive to golfers and the course has no concern about golfers. They allow their maintenance people to rudely get in the way of customers who paid to pay. Plus the greens were aerated but no one told the golfers nor any notice on golf now. It was an unpleasant round.
Member friendly
I had the pleasure of being paired with one of Lochmere's member and what a round it was. Jim was both courteous and helpful throughout the round. Fantastic fairway lies, the greens were just right and the rough was reasonable . I probably had my best round ever at the course because of him. Will return, and hopefully Jim will be there again.
