Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Never play this course after it rains, it's a swamp and no fun, but when dry it is a great course to play.
Im officially just done here
The staff is awful and unprofessional EVERY single time. Im just tired of the miserable experience from people that clearly hate their jobs and just want to go home. Today we had to call in after 5 holes because a kid with a blower followed us every single shot, not turning the blower off including all tee shots and even rode right in front of our shots pretty much ruining the first half of the round. Then we had to call in 10 times to try and order food to grab at the turn, only to be snapped at when someone finally answered the phone. My last time up here the high school girl working in the pro shop pointlessly argued with me about how much my green fees cost to calculate a rain check, even after I showed her the charge on my credit card. Goodbye Lochmere. Your staff sucks, your range mats suck, and theres 30 other courses in the triangle
Great course but needs to spread out the tee times
Just finished a great rounds. Only critique is that they try to cram too many people on the course. We played a round in 4 hrs and 2 min but still felt pushed. They have tee times every 6 min and was asked by the marshal to pick up pace. In all my years golfing I think this was the quickest round I’ve ever played 18 holes in and were still being asked to pick it up. 6 min gap is not enough for tee times and constantly felt like people were wanting to hit into us. Course was in great condition but they need to space their tee times out better as we really had a hard time enjoying ourselves when we felt so much pressure to keep up pace of play when we were well ahead or a typical pace.
Very slow pace
This was my first time playing so understanding this could have just been because of the groups in front of us but it played very slow. Course was in good shape and greens putted well. It’s a good course just very busy and tight quarters on some holes has balls from other fairways flying in.
Great course, horrible pace of play
I love Lochmere because it’s a very easy and well taken care of course but I tend to avoid coming here if possible. I have never been to this course and actually had a good pace of play. Every single time I go there I find myself waiting at every Tee box for the group ahead of me. If your lucky you can come out here during the week and not wait but that is rare. Countless amounts of times where I have paid for 18 and decided not to play the back 9 because there is such a backup. Even with a starter on the weekends there is a backup. If the pace of play and course Managment was better here, it would be my go to course but I can’t stand waiting for the group ahead of me on every single hole. Pace of play does not make it enjoyable. I gave it one more try last weekend and it proved to me that it will never get better and I won’t be golfing there anymore.
Muddy day!
First, Lochmere has done a tremendous job with water drainage since the past however, I would recommend building bulkheads ( like Blair Park and Oak Hollow ) on your holes 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17. The fairways need to be elevated. This process not only extends the live if the course, it make it more safer and enjoyable to play. I just want to say, when the Loch is dry, it's fantastic.
Good luck
Great value
This is my home course that i play at least once a week, so i am very biased.
Overall the course is a great value for what you pay. The layout of the front is very challenging yet simple. An emphasis is placed on everything off the tee, and several holes demand something other than driver on some par 4's in order to not reach hazard. Water comes into play on several holes, including 3,4,6,7, and 9. If you play to the course layout, water is easily avoided however.
Greens were punched in June and have been recovering nicely. Bunkers have nice white, fluffy sand that is a breeze getting out of. I really appreciate how flat this course is. Walking 9 holes after work is significantly more enjoyable knowing i'm not climbing Everest. Its basically pancake flat, with no blind shots to speak of. Enjoy!
EXCELLENT - on a holiday
Despite holiday, rangers keep play going. Ease of booking, quick check in at pro shop, off to first tee, play, fun. Course in mint shape.
Nice and Green
The course is nice and green yeah, fair amount the sand.. Unfortunately the greens have recently been punched and sanded so not rolling very true. Pace of play is terrible, people not playing from proper tees.
