About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Challenging course
Good course. Challenging water features and hidden streams.
Surprisingly quick round
With rain looming and a holiday weekend, the course was not as packed as normal. Turned nines in 100 minutes. Rain shortened the back 9 as we were able to go out 10-12 and back in 16-18. This course fits my game as it is short, but penalizes bad shots.
Staff here is really great. Greens roll pretty well. Bunkers in play all over and I think I found them all today. I have played here three times and have yet to score, but I think I can if I avoid the unforced errors.
I recommend this course, but if you are one that rarely finds a fairway, it will be a long day. A brook runs through the woods, so an errant shot is not just a simple play from the trees, but a red stake.
Great course and great value
The course layout is great and and the staff was amazing as well. Would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to play in the Raleigh area.
Beautifully landscaped course
This was my second round at Lochmere and I’ll probably play there again. I played there on a Tuesday morning at 11:40 and there were very few slow downs in the pace of play. The course is very well landscaped with several small lakes featuring mallard ducks and a heron. The course is in good condition, the greens were in good shape and it was challenging enough for me. If I had any criticism it would be that the course is somewhat flat. I enjoyed playing there.
Fun course! Lots of walkers!!!
Great course... fun layout....way too many walkers moving around way too slow. Greens rolled true.
Good value
This is your standard public course. Tee boxes are mostly sand, but fairways and greens are nice. I have not played here after rain, but from what I gather it’s a swamp if anything significant falls the days before your round.
I love the layout of this course. Every tee shot is tight and makes you second-guess driver even from the backs. The tree-lined fairways always seem to pop the ball out to the fairway every fourth arrant shot, which is nice. Water comes into play on several holes, again making club selection a priority. Pace of play can be hit or miss, as the course hosts several tournaments and outings during the week. Check before going.
Can’t beat overall value of this course and will be playing it many many times this summer.
Golf
Played behind high school golf team and they were very slow for 9 holes...wish we could have started on the back nine
Not yet in great condition, but not bad either
Playing with my grandson as a twosome at noon on a Wednesday, I would have expected a fairly quick round, but was surprised to find the course very crowded , so pace of play was slow. As for the course, the greens were a bit sandy but quite playable. Some of the tee boxes however were very thin with little or no grass at all. Fairways too , were a little thin in places, but again, very playable. All in all , once the grass comes in better, it will be a good place to play
Not For Me
For the price I expected a facility, practice range and golf course to be in top shape. The range mats are beat to death. The facility is beyond dated and the course was mostly mud. Granted it has rained a bunch, but the course does not drain. Bottom line, Not for Me.
