Rating 72.1

Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Wet wet wet

Love this course but its always so wet and usually cart path only. Most likely the last time I play here as other local courses seem to fit my needs better.

Got lucky!

Rained all morning until we teed off, no one in front of us or behind us, a little soggy because of weather but it was allot of fun. Greens were nice.

They kicked me off the hour before my tee time for a weekend tournament

Don't know if this is on GolfNow or Lochmere. Either way, super upset about it.

Could not play because of golf tournament. I drove there and was told when I got there I could not play. Waited too long to email me.

Greens on point

First time playing this course. Muddy in places(light rain 3 days prior) and quite a few leaves on the fairway made it hard to find our balls off the tee. A little tight on a few holes but the greens were in excellent condition. Would definitely come back and play again but not within a weeks time if rained.

Slow Pace of Play, Beautiful Conditions

The staff was quite friendly and attentive. The driving range and practice facilities were quite nice.

The course was in good condition. The bunkers were all in excellent shape. We found the greens in good condition and putts rolled smoothly. Most found the speed was slow.

The only drawback was the pace of play. Well over 4+35 to play 18 holes and we waited on a number of holes for the groups in front of us.

Great, quick round but very wet course.

Had a great time and round of golf at Lochmere today. Tee area and fairways were very wet (cart path only) but greens are in fantastic condition. Pace of play was great also!

Pace of play not acceptable

This course gets lots of play, so they need a ranger badly to keep the rounds started in timely manner and pace consistent.

Swampmere

They don’t call it swampmere golf course for nothing. While the layout of the course is one of the best in the Raleigh area, it has an incredible problem with draining. I don’t think I have ever seen this course dry. Then you add on the golfers that dig 4 inch deep divots into the moist soil and the fairways turn into a mess. The people there are fantastic and some of the friendliest. If they could solve their drainage issue I think this would be one of the best courses to play in the area. Greens are some of the best I’ve seen recently.

Nice Course but...

I enjoy my time at the course but the problem I tend to run into is it’s always really marshy through the course. I am not sure if that’s because of bad drainage or what the issue is but it never fails that the grounds are wet which causes a rough time to play. That’s the main issue I find.

Mixed Bag

Like the title says, there's good and bad on this track. The good: Plenty of water in the layout and greens are in really good shape. The staff is friendly. The bad: This course just doesn't drain well for whatever reason and because of it parts of it get damaged by the mud and water and never get a chance to recover. Tee boxes are a mess. Overall it's a decent layout with a more challenging back 9 but there's better values in the area although nothing else in or around Cary. I wouldn't avoid it but probably won't be back this year. Again, it's not the course's fault that any time it rains it becomes a swampy mess and stays that way for days after.

Great Course

Always a great course to play. Whether the cart rule is 90 degrees or cart path only, regardless, it’s always time and money well spent when playing!
