Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Slow round
The course was in very good condition. Not a course if you want to take a cart. It’s very flat and you should walk. I played with two members who were very friendly. The round however took 5 and a half hours and I played at 8am! I’m use to 3 and half to 4 hour rounds at that time.
Still the best greens around
The rough is getting taller, but the greens are in great shape. Fairways are in good shape too. Great walking course. Course was packed, and it took us 5 hours to play. That is my only concern - would be nice to play quicker and maintain some rhythm. Good snack bar, great range and putting green.
Has potential
THis is a good course to play and it is not far from my home . The greens needs some attention as there was some blight. It had rained a few days prior and this was still wet , and I later found out if you spit on this course it is cart path only, It does not drain well at all. The layout is nothing astounding and a couple of holes seem repetitive. The pace of play was ok, 5 hours. The staff was friendly and the starter was very professional and pleasant. I was paired with a retired married couple who were absolutely great to play a round with and that made the day more pleasant. Overall this is an under $30 course at best, and worth a shot.
Fun Day
Lockmere is re ally working hard on the greens and fairways. They are in good shape now, but see that they are trying to improve at all levels. It is a fun course to play. Being a 20 handicap it gave me a challenge. I have played here several times this year and enjoyed every round. For a semi public course, it has everything : nice putting and driving ranges.
I Love playing this course.
Improved, but....
Greens are much improved with new Bermuda grass, but layout still very flat, and a few holes are dogged by the smell of foul lowlands. Rough was brutally penal, and even lost a ball in it right next to a green. Practice area is excellent, in fact one of best for public course in the area, but unfortunately the course is not quite at same standard.
Major improvements
Lochmere was slowly changed from a course you played because it was convenient and inexpensive to a course you actually want to play! The fairways are nice, the greens (when non-punched) are solid and the bunkers are much improved. We even noticed some cartpath repaving going on, and some other cosmetic improvements (new fence on hole 11).
Good work, guys. Keep up the good work.
Great day to play golf.
It was a spectacular day to play at Lochmere. In general the course was in good shape however the greens had been recently ariated and had not fully recovered so they were bumpy and sometimes unpredictable. Overall with the hot deal was worth playing.
Consistent issues with stacking tee sheet
Over all the courses in good condition however most of the time I play out here they tend to stack the tee sheet pretty thick. Greens recently aerated and rough is thick providing punishment for miss hits
Lochmere Golf Course
Always a pleasure to play this course other than after a hard rain.
Great Course, Great Value
Played Lochmere for the first time and really enjoyed it. It is not super long, but you can use a driver on all the par 4s, except one that is a sharp dogleg. The fairways are somewhat narrow and the bermuda rough is deep in spots, but overall the course is very fair. The greens rolled true and were moderate speed. Good practice range and green. A great deal at $60. Will play there again.
Hit it straight
I'd not played Lochmere until yesterday and I've lived in the area for 13 years. Nice layout well treed left and right and the greens are in nice condition. Fairways as well.
Course requires being able to work it both ways off the tee to get into position for close approach shots.
Had an enjoyable day on the links Sunday.
Great Day
I've played the course several times over the years and the conditions and course seem to be the best I've seen in years. Greens were fast and in pretty good shape. The course was green despite the lack of rain and the high temps that we've had for weeks. Was the course pristine? No. Was the course wet and swampy? No. Great conditions overall? Yes. Now if only my round was great, that is another story all together.
For the amount you pay, this is the best course in the Raleigh area.
