Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

pro shop employee extremely helpful
Even though I booked through Military tee times the senior rate was cheaper and she honored the lower price and it was worth either price
Lochmere GC
Great little course! Tight layout. Best for target golfer in my opinion. Not too long but has some challenging holes. Greens have subtle breaks that must be read from both sides. Fairways are firm and lies are a little tight in some places. 10 fairway is in great shape after being resodded. Traps were in wonderful shape the day I played. Staff is outstanding both in the pro shop and grill. Best golf for the money I've found since our move to the area 2 moths ago. Played a number of local courses and there are some really good ones, but a some are little pricey for hot summertime golf. Just my opinion.
Enjoyed it
Course was in great shape other than the one hole being worked on. Driving range and practice area was great especially grass-like hitting area. Pace was a little slow due to an outing in front of us. Enjoyed the round and will be back.
Always a great round at Lochmere!
I always enjoy my round at Lochmere. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Pace of play is pretty good and the course is challenging! When you're done, they have the best golf apparel available for purchase!
Course is in excellent shape.
The tee boxes were better than average shape, but the fairways were in great shape!
The greens as always were fast and true.
I would play this course again tomorrow if I didn't have to work.
Great shape
Course is in great shape and the greens are exceptional.
Decent
Fair, affordable and convenient. Much better than it used to be for sure. If they'd just put some money into cartpaths etc it would be great...
Nice Course
Course was very nice despite the wet conditions. Showed up with a group of 8 friends, pro shop attendant was very nice and even threw in free range balls. $50 for 18 and a cart turned out to be a good deal. Only complaint was hole 10 fairway was being reworked so they made it into a temporary 97yard par 3. Would definitely go back for another round.
Total lack....
They had a 6 hour Scramble tournament in front of us. Which sucks (6 hours!!) Nothing much the staff could do but they didn't even seem to care. The course lay out is nothing special and amenities are small and crowded or outside.
course was in good shape - rode, but course is very walk able which I would have preferred - however they do not have push carts to rent - might be a good investment for them as I was traveling and did not have my cart with me.
Great Staff
Very friendly staff and a well run facility. Had a great time playing there and the pace of play was very good.. great, true rolling greens.. Just a great Value course !
Good times
This is my 3rd time playing lochmere and I will continue to come back and keep playing. The staff is great and the course is in good condition. See you guys in a few days
Other than the pace of play (5+ hours), the course was in good shape, and the greens were fantastic. Recent rains had left debris (e.g., sand, brush, etc) on some of the holes, especially the back nine.
Twilight Special
Nice Greens. Some fairways lack grass. Fairly tight and short course. Great twilight price.
Lochmere
Very nice greens,
Course is tree lined semi tight,
Bermuda fairways are just coming around
back nine has issue with silt over flowing creeks ( dried Mud)
But really not a issue
Give yourself 6 hours
This has the be the last time I go to this course. The tee-offs are scheduled every 4 minutes. I've never played this course under 5 hours and it's a short course. There just too many players on the course and no Marshall to accelerate things.
The course layout is very basic and the course doesn't drain well either. So stay away if it has rained in the past 4-5 days. There are so many courses in the area (within 25 miles) to choose from but this one is only a couple of miles away from home.
Unless you want to really socialize on the course you'll have plenty of time otherwise don't waste your time and drive the extra 10 minutes.
Are they newly aerated?
