Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

great greens
greens are in great shape. fairways were in good shape. like the overall layout.
Good track, true greens.
Good track even with cart path only, area had 2 inches of rain the night before, the course handled it well. The greens putted very true with a lot of subtle break in them. They were also very hard considering the amount of rain. You needed to land most shots short and let them roll out, a tip provided by the starter (thanks). The club had a lot of business for a Thursday morning and play was some what sluggish, but one inconsiderate fore-some clogged up the whole course with there slow play. If they would have allowed faster players to play through the round would been in the 3.5 hour range not the 4.5 hour hour range.
Rainy day at lochmere
Course was pretty wet...especially first four holes. Was carts on path so pace was slow but we were on track for 5 hour finish until deluge happened when we finished 14. Enjoyed the course even though it was soggy. This would be a great course if they could fix the water
great location fun course
nice place to play. everyone extremely friendly.
course not super long but a good test.
Enjoyable Round
The course was in good shape: fairways, greens, bunkers. Played as a twosome and finished in 3hrs.
The bermuda greens were in great shape despite the heat of the last week. The pro shop staff were friendly and efficient in getting me checked in and on my way.
excellent course conditions
When the majority of courses have serious problems with frozen off Bermuda grass this course is a Mecca - fairways and greens are in great shape. CAVEAT: In my past experience stay away from this course after heavy rain as it gets excessively soggy
Great hidden course
Love the course...
Great greens, lots of trees, and water to for the to penalize you for the miss hits...
Lochmere staff has put in a lot of work to correct the greens and drainage issues...
So, you're missing a 4 start course if you have not played Lochmere in the last 2 years..
Lochmere
Average to below average course. Layout is repetitive. About all par 4's are of the same length and design. Greens were hard and slow. So hard no ball marks existed. Tried to repair one mark and it was difficult to put repair tool in the green to fix. Fairways were in decent shape. Bare spots were rare. Tees were okay with some needing work. Personally, I wouldn't pay over twenty dollars to play this course.
Good course
Course was in good shape. Greens had just been aerated so were a little hard to read.
Needs water for the grass
The crew was friendly and the greens had been punched so putting was tough. The ground was hard and needed some rain or sprinklers. Setup was average. They gave us a voucher with lower rates so that we could come back when the greens were in good shape. This was a nice gesture, I have never been offered this before when greens were punched. Pretty course but it needs some help. $$$. I would come back when the greens were in better shape.
Doing a lot of little things right
Lochmere seems to trending upward lately whilst other public access courses are slipping a bit. The MiniVerde greens that were new a couple seasons ago have aged in very well. Fairways were OK, but above average for the minimal rain we've gotten in the past month. Bunker maintenance is ideal and the best I've played all year. The sand is well maintained and consistent from hole-to-hole. Other course have been letting the bunkers go, which really hurts playability. All in all, Lochmere is a very good value for the money.
Good course, excellent greens but a bit pricey for what you get
I had played here many years ago, but I do believe they have redone the greens since I last played them. The greens were in excellent shape. I only gave it 4 stars because there were other areas that seemed to be lacking as much attention. I know courses can start looking rough due to the summer heat, but some fairways were in rough shape and it's still May. I'll come back again because the greens were so nice and the course is a fair challenge, without being extremely frustrating. The pace of play was a bit slow and frustrating, perhaps it's just a weekend thing. The staff was pleasant and helpful. All in all, a nice course, but a bit expensive for what you're getting.
Lochmere great golf
Course is in great shape greens perfect excellent layout very friendly staff.
Good layout
Just like most of the courses in the area, Lochmere is recovering from much of the rain damage that occurred earlier this Spring. Although the fairways provided tight lies on most shots, the course was enjoyable and the greens were in excellent shape.
Great greens
The greens were in great shape. However, there was quite a bit of maintenance going on and some of the fairways were dead due to disease.
Lochmere has improved since last play
Greens great easy going atmosphere fun round weather was great
nice pace of play; excellent greens & bunkers
Lochmere's greens and green complexes are in truly excellent shape. They are not lightning fast, but they are fast enough, demanding, and fun to play on. Bunkers are also very good. Most of the course is growing in nicely after the tough winter. Great warmup/practice area. Very friendly, helpful staff. This course may not the longest tract in the area, but it requires you shape and hit the correct shots to score. Great course to play to improve or refine your game.
Good value for $$$
Fairways in somewhat tough shape, some bare spots, but the greens definitely roll true (and reasonably fast), and the bunkers had obviously been re done recently as well. Played in 4 hours even on a Saturday mid morning - pretty good pace. Overall, would say yes, I would play again, particularly as the rate is very reasonable.
Long day
The course was in decent shape, but the pace of play was extremely slow. It took over 5 hours to play our round. There were several holes where there was a group on the green, a group waiting in the fairway, a group waiting to tee off, then our group. The course was wet in some spots so it was cart path only, which added to the time. It was a beautiful day, so there were a lot of people on the golf course. I don't know if it was scheduling too many groups or slow players, but it was not an enjoyable round. The last time I played there it didn't take nearly as long, so I'm basing my recommendation to play this course with my last round in mind, too.
