Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Open Christmas Day

With Raleigh, North Carolina having an extremely warm winter; we really appreciated the golf course being open Christmas day. Due to hard rains the past two days, the fairways were a little wet, but the greens were in excellent condition. They gave us an additional discount to make up for any inconvenience. We really enjoyed our round of golf!

Less than average experience.

I have played this course a couple times now. I thought the first one was a fluke and maybe give it a second chance. If here has been any rain this course does not drain a bit. All though it is fall, there was no way to get a true top on a green. They were covered with leaves and pine needles. Even balls in the fairway are often not able to be found.

For the price to play I would not recommend.

Course was like a swamp

I knew cart path only would slow things down but it took almost 2 hours to play first 6 holes. After 3 days of sunshine I thought course would be more playable.
Couse was so wet balls would land in the mud and leaves would make them impossible to find.
Biggest issue was walking to your ball even in fairways and stepping into sinkholes where your shoes, would submerge into the mud.
Greens were fine but that was the best part of the round.

They have to put rangers on the course

Fourth or fifth time my wife and I have played here. Also the last time. We understand that twosomes and threesomes move faster than foursomes, but every time we've played, there seems to be one foursome jacking up the whole course - and never is there a ranger to do anything about it. Several employees in carts drove around the course, but none were focused on the golfers or fact that the course was stacked up. At one point today, there were four groups on one hole.

Course is decent in terms of challenge - you do get to use many clubs and you are forced to shape some shots - fairways are average-to-good considering the weather this year - greens are very good.

Too many other choices in the area in this price range and quality to put up with pace of play that is debilitating.

Nice course, slow play

The course is nice and in great shape. It was overcrowded and pace of play was painfully slow even on a Tuesday morning.

Better than before

I have played his course in the past when rain a week before still had the fairways soaked. New drainage has greatly improved course. I was in great shape from tee to green. I play once or twice a week and live in Apex but had avoided Lochmere because of course conditions. Now they need to resist the urge to pair players up at every opportunity. If you are less than a foursome, they will create a foursome. It is annoying and often not necessary

Awesome Greens

Course layout is average, however, greens are in excellent condition. For its rates well worth it. Pace could be slightly faster but reasonable. Course can be tight and requires accuracy off tees.

Course is in great shape

I played here in the spring and the fairways had some bare spots but now in the fall the fairways are in good condition with little to no bare spots.

Great challenging course for novice golfer

Beautiful golf course. Fairways and greens are some of the best I've played this year. I'm a novice golfer and feel great when I hit below 100. Course was challenging but yet forgiving also.

Good value; course not too shabby!

I'm not a stellar golfer (typical score ~95), so places like Lochmere that cost $25 for 18 holes at the twilight rate are what I generally look for. The course is well maintained, is pretty challenging for my skill level, and the pace of play is decent.

I've walked the course, and it's a long one, so this time around we rode. Good experience either way. Range on site is a nice plus if you want to get in a few practice swings.

second time at lochmere

this is a pretty good course for the money, got a hot deal and was completely worth the $16. Overall the course is in pretty good shape, still some winter kill but overall nice conditions. We got stuck behind a women's league so that definitely slowed up our back nine. I would recommend playing this course if you are paying a discounted rate but I dont think the rack rate is worth it.

Excellent Course Close to Everything

What can I say, this is my home course. It gets used and abused, a lot by people that have no idea about golf etiquette. It get's a lot of traffic in the warm months and despite all of that, the greens are pretty fast and in good shape! I think the fairways could get a tiny bit more attention, but overall I can tell they put a lot of work into this track considering the amount of play it gets. Last but not least the chipping and putting green is in really good condition at all times I feel. Keep it up Lochmere!

My Friday at lochmere

Don't bother playing this course. A Friday. Teed off at 11:32, got off at 4:35pm. Horrible pace of play. They book too many tee times and there's no ranger to keep the pace moving. I won't go back. Will find something else.
