Greens are horrible
Played here a month ago and greens were in bad shape, now they are even worse. Won’t be back until I’m 100% sure greens have improved....which more than likely won’t be until next year. Embarrassing conditions for such a good course. Arnold Palmer would NOT be pleased!
Greens are horrible!!!!!!!
Played here many times over the years and always been satisfied. One of the best local courses......until now.
I don’t know what is going on here. About 6 weeks ago I noticed that the greens were in bad condition...lots of ball marks not being repaired, or not being repaired correctly. A few bare patches here and there, but nothing alarming. Disappointed, but I’ll let it slide.
Played today and it was outright embarrassing. I had no idea that the staff had aerated and top dressed 5 days earlier....a warning or maybe someone in the pro shop mentioning something would have been appropriate. The greens are in the worst condition I’ve ever seen, anywhere. Gonna be quite a while before I spend my $$ here again. Shoulda asked for a refund.
Great layout
The course is a great layout and fair but the greens was terrible
Scorched grns
1st 4 grns were distressed, after that they improved...2nd cut needs to be cut...
Greens were in Bad Shape
The course is well laid out and is a challenging course. However, the greens were in pretty bad shape. Normal cost for this course is $48.00. Considering the condition of the greens, I wouldn't pay more than $20.00. I'll play it again, but only when the green s have recovered.
Great course; improve greens.
Overall I think is is a great course. Here are my points.
1. Tee boxes were what you expect them to be.
2. Fairways were in AMAZING shape, well maintained, perfectly cut, probably my favorite thing about the course.
3. The majority of the greens were not great. It looks almost as if a chemical was used and burned them a bit. They also looked recently punched, probably 3 weeks or so. The lawn crew was out watering them in between golfers, so we know they care and want this remedied.
4. Other than the greens, my only other complaint is regarding the layout; more parallel fairways than I personally care for.
Enjoyable Round of Golf
Teed off at noon on Monday and had the course "to ourselves." Overall course conditions were excellent, however, greens appeared to be suffering some summer heat and humidity. Fairways mostly open while interesting and enjoyable to play. We're are definitely coming back!
Good Layout, bad greens
Surprised to find that the greens were in bad shape. lots of bare spots. Really need to work on greens now so that they will be in good shape for the Fall
Hot and Humid
Hot ; dry weather is beginning to take a toll on greens. It also help if people would fix their ball marks. Course is a fun layout, and player friendly. With the hot weather, there were not many people on the course so we zipped around and just over three hours as a twosome.
Good experience at Salem Glen
Had a wonderful time at Salem Glen, the course conditions were very acceptable considering the weather conditions. Layout of the course was very satisfying for a decent challenge! Also, had a good meal with very friendly staff at the turn. I would recommend this course for anyone, enjoy!
Great course!
Always love this course! Great design and layout, couple very unique and challenging holes. Greens definitely showed some wear but that was also right after a three day jr tournament. Otherwise the course was great like normal!
Worth playing
Great layout. Greens were a little beaten up, but it is a very nice course. I will play it again.
Nice day!
Course staff was friendly, club house person was not so much. Course in good shape. Enjoyed the day!
Great Coarse in Great shape
Played this coarse about a week ago and it was in terrific shape. I only walked 9 holes and played the front 9 but found it to be a fun little course. Greens were excellent, tee boxes the same. Good range for warm up and staff was friendly. Only knock was pace of play. I was walking and still had to wait a little bit. If I was in a cart I would have been more upset but I believe it was a slow foursome about 4 holes ahead holding everyone up.
Absolutely Hidden Gem
Despite being overshadowed by its next-door neighbor (Tanglewood), Salem Glen is a fantastic course that is worth a trip out of your way. The course is 2 very distinct 9's; the first an open, marshy course similar to the Golf Coast of NC/SC, and the second a tight run through hills and valleys typical of a great mountain course. Aside from one spot on #3 green and one uneven tee box, the conditions are absolutely pristine and worthy of a Sectional qualifier. The course is tough but fair, and rewards bold shots as equally as it punishes poor shots. The course has all of the amenities you could expect, but I was turned off that the food prices were a bit high. However, this course is an absolute gem and, in my opinion, criminally underrated among the courses in this area.
Great Course
Course is in great shape tee to green. Greens are med speed. Very good layout. Would play again.
