Oak Valley Golf Club boasts the only Arnold Palmer-designed course in the Winston-Salem area. The course sprawls across what used to be old dairy farmland, nestled in the North Carolina foothills. Palmer utilized the rolling, wooded terrain and transformed the site into one of the Triad’s most scenic golf courses. The layout presents many challenges, including strategically placed sand traps along the undulating greens. You will also come across a fair amount of water hazards throughout the golf course. Palmer, known for his "go for broke" playing style, incorporated several interesting risk-reward holes and it has become what the course is known for. Good drives will be generously rewarded while an errant shot will make it tough to even get a bogey. Oak Valley Golf Club is a favorite among local golfers.

Ok....greens not worth the money

Seems like one of the only courses with bent grass that punched late. All the local Greensboro bent courses were punched back in March or early April.

Still charging 75 on weekends for bumpy greens that are clearly not recovered yet.

Double Wammy

A month or so ago, I played this course with a terrible experience of green conditions been applied with sand. At that time, there were numerous mounds of sands on greens allowing no way to putt out of any holes with blocked mounds. This time greens were aerated still with residual sands on greens (I wonder why they don't sweep the greens to remove any mounds) from the previous or freshly applied making still line keeping impossible. Teeoff or its pro shop was desired to have correct information provided next time with clear warning on conditions. I was so disappointed again.

Oak Valley

The layout is excellent, with conditions that are slightly above average. Oak Valley has long been one of the premier simi private clubs in the Triad, but it is beginning to show its age. The new owner has yet to make significant investments, and the club is in need of updates and repairs, particularly in the clubhouse and grounds.

It would be beneficial to see focused attention on the bunkers, leveling of the tee boxes, repairing broken and deteriorated sections of the cart paths, putting green flags, and improvements to the collars and areas around the greens (lots of ground under repair areas around greens). The driving range could also use enhancements such as better maintenance of the hitting areas, new golf balls, and the addition of yardage markers and netting.

The clubhouse requires some TLC, including fixing broken door handles, updating bathrooms, repainting faded areas, removing weeds, repairing broken bag drops, and replacing broken fence boards around the cart drop area. There is also great potential to enhance the outdoor patio with lounge furniture, TVs, and expanding the seating area overlooking the 9th green to create a welcoming space for enjoying beverages after a round.

Overall, Oak Valley is a great course, and with a bit more attention and modest investment in the clubhouse and driving range, it could firmly establish itself as the top semi-private club in the Triad.

Great Greens

First time I had been back in 5 yrs to play the course. By the 5th hole, I realized these were the best greens I had seen all year. In great shape. The course has seen some repair work and due to dry conditions, the repairs are struggling to fully and properly heal. With some much needed rain, should see excellent conditions matching the greens. Enjoyable layout. Nice pace of play after the opening couple of holes. I will be back.

Solid course

I have always enjoyed Oak Valley. Great layout and was in excellent condition. Actually had grass on the fairways which many course in this area do not have yet. Greens were a decent speed. Not fast but not slow either.

Enjoyed The Day

Always enjoy Oak Valley. Course was in good condition overall as fairways and tees are starting to come out. Greens still a bit bumpy and slow from being punched a few weeks ago, but certainly playable. Course requires all your clubs, but is fairly open off the tee.

Oak valley, a Palmer masterpiece.

Greens have been aerated no to long ago, but for the most part they still rolled nice and speed still pretty good. Next week they should be in fantastic shape. Fairways, bunkers, tees, everything in great shape. Work around a couple of greens created some wet areas, but did not detract from an amazing day on the course, Staff, as always, was amazing.

Loved the course and scenery

I loved the course and the scenery. Beautiful course and great layout! Early in the year and they had just plugged the tee boxes and sanded the greens. But it is a beautiful course and a lot of fun.

Messy Greens

Teeoff usually does a good job posting a warning about aeriation. However, when this tee time was booked, there was no warning on conditions of greens. This course must have not reported about this to Teeoff or a warning was missing. When I checked in and looked at the course, greens looked all white meaning sand was applied after aeriation or some maintenance work. I assumed it would be slow green but playable. Man, it was horrible green conditions with large amount of sands blocking ball rolling every green. I love this course but today (3/28/2026) greens were so bad with sand on greens. I would wait by cancelling my tee time in time if I knew this condition in advance.

Oak valley

The golf course was very nice but nowhere on any website. Did they say that just punched the greens and dumped a ton of sand over the greens and still charge $75 that did not sit well with me..

Wasted money

Feel like I wasted my money for myself my son and brother in law to play as there were 2 teens in front of us taking their time with their phones and speaker being loud and obnoxious along with 2 older guys on front of them kept holding us up from playing multiple holes. Called the pro staff desk and saw it not get handled as the staff went away it went right back to how it was prior. Never felt like a waste of money to that day

Great shape !

Course is in great shape . A few holes have wet spots short of the green. Not a showstopper but would love to see them do something about it. Greens looked and rolled great. Overall great experience for a discounted rate!
