Great Experience
Able to play a quick 18 hold round teeing off early Friday afternoon. Top notch service from check in to check out. Larger groups allowed us to play through without any problem. Those working on the course were very aware of golfers on course and went out of their way to avoid having any negative influence on golfers and suspended their work from set up to shot execution. Considering conditions of other courses in the area, this is the best course to play.
Course is in excellent shape !!!
Salem Glen somehow managed to dodge the winter freeze that affected so many courses this year, fairways were beautiful and greens for the most part were very nice!
I would recommend, highly so if you can score a "hot deal" like I did, well worth your time and money!
LOVE THIS COURSE!!!
I played in a tournament here on July25th and this course was in great shape. The only negatives were 1) Slow pace of play but that was due to our tournament and not any fault of the golf course. 2) A few of the bunkers could have been raked better and softer instead of dried up hard sand. Other than that this course is in excellent shape. This is also a beautiful golf course. The practice facility is also excellent. I rather go to their practice facility than any driving range in the area. Its a little more expensive than most courses in the area but worth every penny. If you haven't played Salem Glen try it out you wont be disappointed. Im so glad Salem Glen is back on Golfnow.
This course is in great shape. The
The course was in excellent condition. Always enjoy having to work the ball.
Little to No Winter Kill
If your looking for a course in the Tiad with Little to no winter kill this is the course. Great Driving Range and fantastic green fairways. All the other courses in the area have suffered and several have closed down for a couple of weeks. You wont find that here!
BEST IN THE TRIAD
Like a good fishing hole you don't want to tell people about, much is the same with Salem Glen. I've played many courses in the Triad this year and 90% had huge Winter kill issues. Salem Glen is pristine. Previously I considered Tanglewood, Forest Oaks, and Gillespie as the best I have seen, but Salem Glen was just plush. I don't know how they did it but hats off to their course supertdt. There were a couple spots resodded but just a few. Greens were excellent. $24 at 2 p.m. I think humidity was like 200% 90 deg. day and there were 3 groups of kids walking in front so it made for some slowness. But what can you expect on a Summer afternoon. Otherwise this course is well, I say "well" worth the 25 mile drive from Greensboro.
Great course
Great course in great shape. Great pace of play. I would recommend this course especially this year since most courses in the Triad have winter kill issues.
Hot day for golf
Other than the temp being over 96 deg it was an enjoyable round of golf. The course was a good challenge. I would play again.
Play
The greens were in pristine condition. Like most courses in the area. there were some areas in the Fairways that were recovering from the harsh winter, but significantly better than most in the area. Worth playing a few more times this season.
Great Course
Played here Sunday 6/14/15 for $20 on a 50% off hot deal. I saw beforehand that no one had reviewed the course since last fall (the club just started offering golf now tee times again) so I decided to write one. Like everywhere else in the triad, a few (not all) fairways had some dead spots. However, most of the time lush and manicured grass could be found within a club length so it wasn't a problem. Greens are in great shape; fast and true. Par 5's are tough because a few of them have water in front of the green. Most fairways are pretty open while the greens require a lot of accuracy from irons. Play was a little slow as three groups were on the first tee. I paired up with the twosome behind me and it made it a little better. This course is in great shape and I'd recommend it over comparable courses like Forest Oaks, Oak Valley, and Oak Hollow in terms of condition. I didn't get any food so I can't comment on that.
Better Courses in the area
The best thing Salem Glen has going for it is the practice facility. Very large range with an excellent short game area and practice green. Could still use some more targets on the range, but overall one of the better practice facilities in the area.
Course is ok. Not a big fan of the layout. First hole is a pretty bad starting hole and #10 is no better. There are much better courses in the area, both in course condition and layout.
This course is in great shape
From the Tee Boxes, to the fairways to the greens, this course is in great shape! I love the layout!
Super course and demanding.
Only issue we had was with distance to the holes and yardage markers but the staff agreed with us that due to recent lengthening, they should have told us to ignore the concrete yardage markers on the tee boxes.
Staff was very friendly and atmosphere inviting.
I did bring up rain policy with the course and also GolfNow and was told if we get rained on its up to GolfNow to refund that the course could not give out rain checks. That is the only caveat that concerned me in that me and my partner got drenched on the 5th hole but later sun was out and we were fine.
Front nine is straight forward while the back nine is a challenge.
The course is in very good condition. The fairways and greens are excellent. No weeds, just good ole' Bermuda grass in the fairways and the rough is typical deep Bermuda. Stay out if at all possible.
outstanding course maintenance
Only one hiccup...please fix system errors when accessing and paying for golf deals by iphone app.
2 in 1
As another reviewer mentioned, this course plays like 2.
The front tends to give me a bit more trouble, while the back is suited to my game. Overall the course is in great shape. If you play in the afternoon you may get paired with some high school kids but they are very good. The Golf Now rate was perfect.
Accurate Tee Shots Required
Salem Glen was in pristine condition in late July. The fairways, greens and even the rough was plush and green. The course doesn't require you to be long off the tee but does require you to place an accurate tee shot or pay the price. The rough is thick and can easily swallow an errant shot. My only complaint was the difficulty of determining yardage for approach shots.Yardage markers were only on the cart path and a small stone in the fair way. A range finder is almost a necessity or great advantage for anyone new to this course. I would definitely play this course again and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a challenge.
ALways a fun and challenging course
Got a Hot Deal! special and so for that price, this was a great deal. This course is always fun to play and offers challenging holes. With 5 sets of tees, every golfer can test their skills.
Course was in good condition. The greens rolled well and had a reasonable pace, but not as fast as this course usually is.
But fairways, greens and tee boxes where in good shape.
Overall great for the price we paid!
The course was in great shape, and greens rolled really good. The only bad thing to say was some of the tee boxes were in poor shape. but other than that.....good to go.
Good course
I play this course often. It has nice terrain changes and the fairways are on the wide side, so you don't have to hit every shot perfectly. It is a good layout. The course is in very good shape. Course management has worked hard over the past few years to improve it's condition. Greens were aerated this past weekend when I played, but putting was not a disaster as it often is at other courses in similar situations.
