outstanding course maintenance
Only one hiccup...please fix system errors when accessing and paying for golf deals by iphone app.
2 in 1
As another reviewer mentioned, this course plays like 2.
The front tends to give me a bit more trouble, while the back is suited to my game. Overall the course is in great shape. If you play in the afternoon you may get paired with some high school kids but they are very good. The Golf Now rate was perfect.
Accurate Tee Shots Required
Salem Glen was in pristine condition in late July. The fairways, greens and even the rough was plush and green. The course doesn't require you to be long off the tee but does require you to place an accurate tee shot or pay the price. The rough is thick and can easily swallow an errant shot. My only complaint was the difficulty of determining yardage for approach shots.Yardage markers were only on the cart path and a small stone in the fair way. A range finder is almost a necessity or great advantage for anyone new to this course. I would definitely play this course again and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a challenge.
ALways a fun and challenging course
Got a Hot Deal! special and so for that price, this was a great deal. This course is always fun to play and offers challenging holes. With 5 sets of tees, every golfer can test their skills.
Course was in good condition. The greens rolled well and had a reasonable pace, but not as fast as this course usually is.
But fairways, greens and tee boxes where in good shape.
Overall great for the price we paid!
The course was in great shape, and greens rolled really good. The only bad thing to say was some of the tee boxes were in poor shape. but other than that.....good to go.
Good course
I play this course often. It has nice terrain changes and the fairways are on the wide side, so you don't have to hit every shot perfectly. It is a good layout. The course is in very good shape. Course management has worked hard over the past few years to improve it's condition. Greens were aerated this past weekend when I played, but putting was not a disaster as it often is at other courses in similar situations.
Good course, greens need to be aeriated.
The course was generally in good condition; however, the greens had not yet been plugged this year and were so hard you couldn't leave a ball mark even on full shots. That combined with a very windy day made it almost impossible to get the ball close to the hole unless to a back pin. But the greens did putt well and were rather quick. I played the front as a single in about 75 minutes. On the back, I joined a threesome and we played in less than 2 hours. Staff was very friendly!
Course was in good shape; got behind a fairly slow foursome.
Greens were quite hard and difficult to hold on approaches.
JUST ENOUGH CHALLENGING HOLES TO COUNTER SOME THAT OFFER GOOD BIRDIE CHANCES
REALLY LIKE TO PLAY THERE MORE THAN I DO BUT PACE OF PLAY IS ALWAYS SLOWER THERE. COURSE CAN BE OPEN IN FRONT OF THE FOURSOME IN FRONT OF YOUR TWOSOME BUT SEEMS NO ONE EVER HEARD OF LETTING FASTER PLAYERS THRU. HOW DISAPPOINTING
Great Course
Friendly staff, course well kept for season. Highly recommend.
nice course
3/22/13 Played for $14, what a Golfnow deal! Tight lies on dormant bermuda fairways & fast greens made for tough approach shots that were hard to hold
Best gem of triad
Play this course almost every week. Not a member but its the best value without question. Staff in pro shop and Grill are extremely friendly. The course is in amazing condition and the greens are rolling like glass, nice 11,12 on the stimp and smooth as glass. Tanglewood and Oak Valley really don't compare at this point in the year.
this course has great layout
Turned out to be a great day, on a fantastic course. The smooth and speedy greens were the best I've played on in years. At the hot deals price, a great value.
Not a good course for Golf Now members.
We booked a round on Golf Now at a good price. We arrived at 1015am for an 1116am T-time, used the driving range and putting green and headed to the T Box at 1105am. At 1116am...our time to T off, there we 6 full carts in front of us. They were all members of the course and were able to jump in and play whenever they want. They were slow and we ended up with a 5hr and 20 min round. This does not make for a good marrage with GolfNow.com. Those of us booking on Golf Now, prefer to begin play at our scheduled time...not 40 minutes later and not on a course that does not manage its slow players. If you ar looking for a 4 hour round..look for another course.
awesome
I know it was late jan, but the course was in great shape. I suspect the greens will be much faster when it gets warmer and dryer. Nevertheless, they were still pretty quick and rolled sooooooo smothly. Had a alot of fun holes. some straightforwward, while others made u work. A very nice course and we look forward to returning
Course was in good shape for this time of the year. Great track.
Played on cold day and not too many people were out. Pace of play was great. Fairways were domient because they do not overseed in the winter. Greens were as good as any other place.
Great Layout
GO play this one. It is pretty challenging. Nice clubhouse. In a community setting. Nice driving range. A good place to join!
split personality
This course is very well maintained and challenging. The front nine takes you along the Yadkin River and has a wide open feel. The back nine has a different personality with its hills, rolling fairways, and elevated tee boxes. There are lots of opportunities to score but course management is key. I played one round where I was very long off the tee and another where I was a little weaker. Both rounds were productive and I didn't feel like I was scrambling either way.
Way to busy.
Showed up for our 12:44 tee time at 12:20. It was Tuesday in December so I didn't think it would be busy. I was informed when I checked in that they were running 20 min behind and to go to the driving range and he would come get us when they were ready for us to tee off. 1:10 rolled around and still nothing so we went up to where the Marshall was stationed and he was no longer there. I went into the pro shop and the said to just go tee off. We had to wait an average on 6 min on each hole before we could tee off because the course was just over booked. It was dark before we got to the 17th hole and was not able to finish our round.
This course has great practice area
Course was in great shape for December, and the greens were great
