Great shape ! Fantastic course

Salem Glen is in terrific shape right now . All bunkers contained new sand , fairways in very good condition, and greens rolled quick .

Pace of play was excellent . The staff at the pro shop and cart girls were super friendly . I’m incredibly pleased with the rate we got on GN for our 4some.

Love it!

We really enjoyed this course! The bent grass greens are hitting their prime this time of year, new bunkers throughout, and great tee and fairway conditions. Will definitely be back.

Not Good

The worst condition I’ve ever seen a course in. Greens have so many ball marks. It’s like putting over moon craters. The ruff was so high if you missed the fairway or green, you’re lucky to find your ball. And then good luck hacking it out. I don’t know why they would let such a nice course get so beat up. our round took forever because all we did was look for lost golf balls all day. Not fun at all! I will not return . Not worth the trip or the discount price.

They’ve let Salem Glen go down hill.

I’ve played Salem Glen many times over the years. This is the worst condition I’ve ever seen the course in. I will not return to Glen Raven until I’ve been informed that they have improved course conditions. Not worth the trip or the discount price.

Lost greens

I really like this course and have played it several times. The greens are not in good shape. Ball marks are everywhere and the overall conditions of the greens are going down. I hope they get them back or change them out.

Overall Course Experience

Upon arriving the set up is great as to the beautiful clubhouse and adjacent range. Pro shop is just ok as to merchandise not much for logo merchandise. Not a friendly group.

We teed off on Sunday at 10:30am and we finished at 3:30. It took 30 minutes to play the 15th hole. There was two groups ahead slowing up the course. We never saw a ranger and they have GPS on carts which is the best way to find the on course holdup's. We did see two fellows rescue an electric motorcycle.

The cart girl was always checking in and a savior in the 90 degree heat. Superintendents/staff were watering the greens during play.

Course layout and tee options are fantastic. Unfortunately people are not repairing ball marks which made the greens difficult. Superintendent did punch and sand to help you could see.

Bottom line is I would still play the course. I’m sure the slow plane was just an anomaly and the clubhouse and the food service is fantastic. If they just fix the slow play problems it’s a great place to play..

Challenging and fun

The fairways are generous, and we liked the hilliness and variety of holes designed on the course. Looking forward to working on my game again on this course it was fun!

Enjoyed the course. Fun,

I played a round here with my son and we had a great time overall. The course was in very good shape—well-kept fairways and smooth, true-rolling greens. One unique and fun feature was the option to rent motorized golf bikes for just $10 extra. They were easy to use and made the round more enjoyable.

The front nine moved along nicely, but the back nine slowed down quite a bit. Not sure where the ranger was during that stretch—it would’ve been nice to have someone keeping pace of play in check.

Still, a great experience and a solid course, especially for a father-son outing.

Awful Greens

I’ve played this course several times but this will be the last! It is a 1:45 hour drive from my home but the conditions and the price was always worth the drive.

Not only have you raised the prices, you have managed to ruin the greens! Tee box’s and fairways are in good shape, but the greens are not. Practice green looked like a chipping green and the chipping green was over grown with weeds!

And then there’s the staff! When asked if the greens are like the putting green we were told that they were in great shape! So a big lie! Just tell the truth, would not have been as mad if you had told the truth!

Worst greens ever

Well, tee box’s fairways were in excellent condition. And then there were the greens. Pitch marks were out of control! Greens are very soft and that’s why they have all the pitch marks. But the Greens have black fungus on them. Charging $80 for these greens is a crime.

I’ve played this course several times and it has always been in great condition and could not believe it was the same greens that I’ve seen there.

Drove from Charlotte to play and have to putt on crap greens I won’t be back. The Warrior, Rock Barn, Waterford, Riverbend are such a better value.

Salem Glenn management should be ashamed of the green conditions.

Should be ashamed!!

You have absolutely no business charging 70 plus bucks to play on greens that are absolute trash. If you like putting on the moon with all the craters you have to avoid then it’s the place for you! 35 dollar course at best
