Rocky River Golf Club at Concord
About
Rocky River Golf Club was carefully carved from lush, rolling hills and natural wetlands with the intent of preserving the beautiful terrain as much as possible. The course flows across the dramatic natural contours of the land, providing holes with plenty of elevation changes. Running alongside the rolling fairways are winding ribbons of native wetland grasses that weave through rocky outcroppings. Golfers shouldn't be surprised if they come across some of the wildlife that inhabits the course, which includes cranes, deer, and beavers. In addition to the stunning scenery, the golf course offers a challenging round. The large, contoured greens demand accurate iron play. Errant shots will find their way to the wetland areas or the patches of seeded fescue. In addition to the golf course, Rocky River offers a driving range with four target greens as well as a putting and chipping green.

Great Course - Punched Greens and Clubhouse Reno
Fun course - very accommodating to an out-of-towner that headed to the course right from the airport.
Paired with another single and a couple for a 1230p tee time - we all had a good time.
Greens were just aerated (I was aware of this when I booked, so definitely not knocking the course at all), so it was a bit of a "plinko" putting day - I am sure those greens will be immaculate once they heal.
Clubhouse is currently under renovation, so the pro shop and small food/drink stand inside are pretty cramped at the moment.
I cannot say enough good things about the staff - from the pro shop attendant, to the starters/cart jockies, to the cart girl, to the marshal - all A+ service with a positive attitude on a hot July day.
Practice facilities were adequate, pace of play was great, and the course had just enough challenge to make it fun, yet accessible to my 18 HDCP game.
I played from the green tees to add a bit more challenge (and because my playing partner elected to play from there) and I had a blast.
I will definitely be back next time I'm in the CLT area - thanks for a great experience!
A fave
Aerated greens usually here at this time of year. Great layout. One of my favorite layouts around charlotte
Nice course, pricey
It's a challenging 18 hole course, back 9 is narrow, be accurate. Most staff were friendly, college staff were inattentive and using fowl language, carts were not prepared when issued. There is no grill, some cold sandwiches and a small bar. There was no drink cart on Sunday. All in all a nice course, but $85? I expected more.
You have to play this course!
If you haven’t played this course, you’re missing out. Layout is so much fun and challenging. Staff is incredible and course conditions are excellent.
Tee boxes are quickly becoming a problem
I've always liked Rocky River and the course was always in great shape. Unfortunately this season too many tee boxes have fallen into a state of disrepair. Seems like half of the tee boxes are more mud than grass..they should have sodded pre season but they didn't. A lot of very poor footing to be found unfortunately. The rest of the course is in great shape so it just really stands out how poor the tee boxes are.
Great course!
Beautiful course, surprised to see it surrounded by wetlands. Well maintained range and course and friendly staff
Top Tier
Where do I start. The course was absolutely beautiful. Greens were nice. Staff was polite and courteous. I truly enjoyed my first time there and I am super excited to come back to do a full 18holes.
Challenging layout
Good pace based on previous rounds. Fairways and greens in good condition (except one #3). Some tees were spotty and the course is a little rough around the edges. Overall a fun day.
Great course minus pace of play
Great course minus the pace of play. When making the turn, we had multiple groups let on to play nine. The group infront of us was 5-6 guys with 1 cart. Enough said.
Amazing Staff! Great Value
Was greeted at the bag drop by the starter who informed me who I was playing with, took my bag and set it up on a cart as well. Course was in solid shape despite the rain earlier in the week. Cart person came around frequently and the snack bar had plenty of grab and go options at the turn. When I finished my round I was greeted and had my clubs cleaned. The course is solid, but the staff is the reason I will be back!
Good greens and layout
I like the course layout and the greens had good speed. The fairways are also good, but there are some rough ground conditions on the edges. I try to take advantage of the Golf pass hot deals to make it a better value.
A nice day at the track
I picked this course because it is convenient for everyone who played with me.. we all thought it was going to be more upscale than our foursome typically enjoys but we were wrong.. it was just a nice course in the shadow of the Z-Max drag strip (no racing on our day but it does make sense to check the race schedule as it gets loud). The course is in very nice condition.. true rolls on the green and wide enough fairways to accommodate us hackers playing the short tees.. there were two sets of tees behind us that I expect would be more challenging. Overall it is a pretty course with woods, water, and a couple glimpses of the track.. I will definitely play here again.
