Rocky River Golf Club at Concord
About
Rocky River Golf Club was carefully carved from lush, rolling hills and natural wetlands with the intent of preserving the beautiful terrain as much as possible. The course flows across the dramatic natural contours of the land, providing holes with plenty of elevation changes. Running alongside the rolling fairways are winding ribbons of native wetland grasses that weave through rocky outcroppings. Golfers shouldn't be surprised if they come across some of the wildlife that inhabits the course, which includes cranes, deer, and beavers. In addition to the stunning scenery, the golf course offers a challenging round. The large, contoured greens demand accurate iron play. Errant shots will find their way to the wetland areas or the patches of seeded fescue. In addition to the golf course, Rocky River offers a driving range with four target greens as well as a putting and chipping green.

SlyDog
Course was in excellent. $45.00 on golfnow was a great deal.
Very nice course
This course is in excellent condition. The greens were nice and rolled well, the fairways were grassy. Definitely can’t wait to play again but I hate that #18 is always cart path only
Southern Golf
What a great course for being public. Really enjoyed it. Will definitely play it again!
First experience
This was my first time playing Rocky River golf club. I went there based upon positive reviews. Normally I wouldn’t travel that far to go to play golf because there are many courses in my area. However, I travel 35 miles because of the positive reviews. That being said, the course is in good condition and very fair and very playable for the average golfer. The only drawback was at the pace of play was very slow and there were no Rangers to keep pace of play moving.I was surprised how busy it was for a Monday on this golf course. I thought it would be a lot less crowded and the pace of play would’ve been quicker. I would like to go back but I’m hesitant due to pace of play and the distance.
Premium price??
I have always enjoyed this course. For the price currently being charged you would think the greens wouldn’t still be bumpy from the previous aeration. Overall the course is still super nice but the price would tell me that the greens are in pristine condition.
Once again OVERSOLD
2nd and last time playing here for a long time. This time waited to tee off on 16 of the 18 holes. Waited on average 5 mins in each tee box. NOT WORTH IT. $35 OK I will wait. Over$50 NOT WORTH IT.
Great layout and in great condition
This is a fantastic Dan Maples course. Layout has something for everyone: long par 4's, short par 4's, grip-and-rip holes, and narrow placement holes. It makes you use every club in your bag, which is a sign of a great layout. The course conditions were fantastic and so was the pace of play. As an added bonus, since the course is basically nextdoor to the Charlotte Raceway, you get great views of the raceway and can occasionally hear the pro's doing practice runs. Not to be missed!
Ranger gets paid to do nothing.
3 tee times were taken by a bachelor party and most came in with no golf clubs, balls, etc. by hole 13, the same group had it backed up to where 3 groups were waiting to tee off. We passed the ranger on 14 parked in the woods smoking a cigar and that’s the only time we saw him. For $70+ on a Saturday, it wasn’t worth the 5.5 hour round.
Visting Charlotte? Play. This. Course.
Beautiful, scenic course in great shape. Greens rolled true, fairways were well groomed, God help you if you got past the first cut into the deep stuff. As a +20 handicapper, I still thought the course was a fair challenge for someone of my (lack of) ability. Staff was excellent, friendly- you truly got the feeling they were happy to see you and wanted your business. Rocky River needs to be the poster child for muni courses operated by for-profit companies.
Beautiful Layout in area
Challenging layout and pin placements were difficult for a Monday. Recent aeration didn’t affect greens and speed was decent. Will definitely be back to play mid week as deals are fantastic for the type of course and layout Rocky River presents.
Staff/bag/cart attendants were very nice and Christian in particular was helpful in getting us out in a timely fashion.
Hot Day
It got up to 91 with a heat index of 100! There was no beverage cart. Thought I was going to have to quit due to lack of hydration, but made it all 18 without passing out. The lady who was to drive the beverage cart was told to stay in and run the bar. Bar person did not show up. After the round, I purchased a small bottle of water for $2.25. Not impressed with this situation. However, the golf course was great and in good shape. Carts had GPS that is over programmed with ads and warnings. Carts were restricted in too many places to get good readings on distance. I will try to come back this fall with cooler temperatures. Bermuda greens were in good shape. Definitely worth your time and money!
